Since a lot of us really love this thread and some even said it's their favourite part of Coldplaying, I was just thinking...

Shall we try to set a mark and vote the Oldplaying thread for best thread of 2015 ?

I think Chris has changed a lot and they are unlikely to return to their roots anytime soon. By that I mean, within the next 20 years. They may change and evolve again as they grow older but it will take a long time till we see something notably different. Since the band doesn't like to revisit sounds and styles of the past, it's unlikely they will go completely back to the roots but who knows if we won't get something rockier in the far future (if they still exist as a band then).

 

I feel very sad to say I think the Parachutes-Viva era sound has officially sailed. I don't think they come back from this sound. They're (Chris, at least) ultra famous with ritzy friends who seem to be steering them that way. Unless they all move back to a small London town and recede from the limelight, this is the Coldplay sound until they fully break up or die.

I haven't seen anyone campaign for anything yet and I don't wanna be the first person to do so, hence I am waiting. But even if campaigning starts I was wondering if we should not lie low instead and count on our own thread users to vote because we have so many haters out there who would try everything to stop us.

Don't underestimate your thread... I think it has been a good uniting one that brings into focus for each of us the reasons we persist with the band (despite differing opinions) ;) The only thing I feel sorry for is that it has been somewhat hijacked (me included) away from its original intention of celebrating all things Oldplay, which is actually quite different and unrelated to recent posts about how poor / annoying Newplay are...

Thanks for the answer...Reading all the comments and some chris interviews just let me wondering that they should take a break for while after this tour..I hope it won't be for so long (about 7/8 years) but still enough to let them,or better Chris, put some new ideas up

I appreciate some of the new songs and I'll enjoy them as much as other old song,but some other don't make me feel so good..

For example,about Hftw,i think that is just another Chris fancy like asfos,poc,nothing more...but we'll hear that song live for a while...how this song started in some way is not so much different as yellow,if you remember how that song started...But Yellow is not even comparabile to that 'song' and that's sad :D

The only thing i wish is that they'll keep in mind what they're really good at,doing great song with only 4 instruments,and since they are still able to do it (atlas,ghost story,miracles) i won't give up hoping in this

I heard Speed of Sound get played on the radio this morning, and it was so refreshing to hear their old sound on the radio again. I've really been appreciating X&Y a lot lately, I always loved that album but really really loving it right now :)

 

 

Maybe something similar is what's happening, Coldplay is going pop. But then they'll go to sleep and remember they should rock out instead lol. I love this video so much. Actually Johnny going jazz didn't sound too bad :P

Although I suppose in hindsight, a lot of things were revealed with that one, weren't they... I was both surprised and touched that they (CM in particular) shared that one with us - they could just have easily decided to keep it private, although I suppose maybe CM wanted to show and share his joy with the world

Do a lot of Coldplayers listen to other music besides Coldplay? I read a lot of very, very strange comments in some of the thread which are mad. I get the feeling a lot haven't listened to much music in their lives.

Please see my signature below...I always enjoyed to listen to a lot of other music, but coldplay is my favorite band. I mean was ;)

Besides have anyone of you seen the comments below coldplay's fb, twitter or instgram posts? It makes me sad...maybe the musical direction is set for the next few years :( wtf :(
