well we now see the studio update.....I'm guessing that is the studio update. what are your thoughts on it? And what do they mean by 6 songs achoring the album? "On a Saturday night in late February, Coldplay are in their North London headquarters, listening to mixes of new songs. After spending months writing and recording with producer Brian Eno, the band is now painstakingly wrapping up its fourth album, Viva la Vida or Death And All His Friends. A few weeks ago, Eno jetted off to work on U2

  5. COLDPLAY star Chris Martin has made an emotional journey to Scotland for the funeral of his beloved uncle. He travelled alone to bid farewell to Angus Fleming on Arran. Ferry passengers spotted the rocker on his way to St Molio's Church in Shiskine, Blackwaterfoot, on Friday. And his band's hit song Fix You was played during the ceremony. Chris, 30, went home after the funeral tea and was so exhausted he slept on the deck of the ferry between Brodick and Ardrossan. Chris said: "I'm very upset. My uncle has just died and I've been to his funeral. It's very difficult." There was no sign of Oscar-winning wife Gwyneth Paltrow, 35, or their three-year-old daughter …

The new record is going to have nine tracks on it (or so we've been led to believe) and the title (VLVODAAHF) has nine words. Coincidence? Er, maybe.

  11. I'm not sure if this will work out or not, but I think its a good idea that we should keep discussion of the content on Coldplay's Timeline in a seperate thread. Why? Well I for one keep thinking that a new star has been posted every time I see it bumped up to page 1. Which causes much unwanted anxiety and disappointment when it only turns out to be a complaint or a plea to Coldplay for more information (and I don't mean anyone in particular, because we've all done it, including me). I've also made this thread because the timeline will soon be a separate part of the Coldplay.com website when the new site goes live. So then it will no longer be new stars on coldplay.com…

  12. After a courageous, 11-month battle for her life, Toronto Sun writer Sherri Wood died last night of brain cancer. The Etobicoke native was two weeks shy of her 29th birthday. http://jam.canoe.ca/Music/2008/03/24/5091751-sun.html http://jam.canoe.ca/Music/2008/03/28/5129381-sun.html Anastasia Saradoc (EMI Music Canada): I was so incredibly saddened to hear about Sherri passing away. My heartfelt condolences go to her family, friends and co-workers. This fabulous girl will be so greatly missed! Sherri was so wonderful to work with -- she had a great energy and enthusiasm that not all journalists have. I will especially fondly remember our many Coldplay conversa…

  13. DANI FILTH - FILTH CHALLENGES MARTIN TO BOXING MATCH British rocker DANI FILTH wants to go head-to-head with COLDPLAY vocalist CHRIS MARTIN in a boxing match. The founding member of extreme metal band Cradle Of Filth has branded indie frontman Martin a "sap" saying he would be his first choice to have a fight with. He says, "Probably that c**t Chris Martin from Coldplay. I wouldn't even wait for the bell. "Absolutely everything about him makes me want to puke. He's such a sap, and the way that he wrote that s**t about 'freedom' on his hand was pathetic. "If you strongly believe in something you don't write it on your hand with a biro, you tattoo it across your f**kin…

Hey y'allz, I'm quite curious: When LP4 is finally released, will you be going for a solid CD or a digital release through iTunes or Amazon or the like? I'm a bit torn myself. On the one hand, a CD is the classic manifestation, that can be used anywhere and comes with a cool case. However... digital releases, especially through iTunes, tend to come with bonus tracks. There's a slight chance that a CD would lack certain bonus tracks. So, what do you think it'll be for you?

Well, I was in a field trip with my classmates, and in the bus we all decided to watch a movie, It ended up being "the 40 year old virgin"... You see, I've never disguised the fact that I love Coldplay, I have a bracelet at all times and wear t-shirts of them and what not.... As you can imagine, I passed the following 2 weeks hearing "You know how I know you're gay?" Now, tell your story... come on now, don't be shy, I know you have one ;)

  16. Band reveal how Coldplay frontman helped out REM have revealed that their close pal Chris Martin helped them name new single 'Supernatural Superserious'. The song, which is the first track to be lifted from new album 'Accelerate', was originally called 'Disguised' after being previewed at the band’s five-night run at Dublin's Olympia Theatre last summer. However, according to REM's frontman Michael Stipe, the track was renamed after a bit of advice from the Coldplay frontman. He told Jo Whiley on BBC Radio 1: "We were in London, in Soho, mixing the record and Chris Martin was working on the Coldplay record as well, and he's great friends with the band. "…

In the digital age, even though the bands fight over the tracklisting, the tracks are going to be dissembled in someone's playlist anyway, which, even though this is a sad fact for the band, doesn't mean that they shouldn't give up on a tracklisting because there are some people out there (AKA: ME) that still listen to the physical album the first time you hear it, so, they are really fighting about it for us, and we should be grateful, not wondering what is taking so long. Signed, T.H.

  22. I'm being serious here. I've been reading YouTube comments and posts on other forums left and right about how he's so arrogant and self-centered. Honestly, I don't see how someone can draw that conclusion. Sure some people might see the band as "Chris Martin and three other dudes" just as some people see U2 as "Bono and three other dudes", but that's only because they're lead singers! Lead singers always get the attention, regardless of what band they're in. So with that out of the way, can anyone direct me to evidence supporting the theory that Chris has this "I'm the greatest person in the world and you three other dudes would be nothing without me" mentality? And…

With this new perceived darker sounding Coldplay and the attitude of we'll do what we want even if you don't like it, does this pave the way for Twisted Logic to make it into forthcoming setlists? It may be more appropriate for it to make an appearance now due to their shift in sound than during the Twisted Logic tour.

  25. Since the industry is trying to discorage piracy I don't get why they don't go all out on the presentation of the CD format? In CP's case cheap plastic, no lyrics in fact no nothing really. Pretty much nothing except respect for CP to stop me stealing the CD on the internet. Most bands seem to have annoyingly unintresting or none existant inlays. What do you guys think?
