COLDPLAY star Chris Martin cheated death when his plane hit a dust storm as it tried to land at a remote African airstrip, The Sun can reveal. The 27-year-old singer, in Africa to publicise fair trade issues, told how his life flashed before his eyes as the pilot wrestled with the controls. Last night Chris, who has an eight-month-old daughter, Apple, with actress wife Gwyneth Paltrow, 32, revealed: “It was so terrifying. The plane was all over the place. I saw these 2 song titles before. Was Parachutes originally named Always? and Don't Panic a Beautiful world? I think that the person who typed the names didn't know what the songs were actually called, however it is possible that Parachutes was named Always. Though I wish they would have continued Parachutes (the song)

The rumour mill has already started turning for this year's Glastonbury festival and here are some of the bands you can expect to see on the Pyramid Stage (and when!) at this year's Glastonbury Festival. On Friday night, it is expected that Keane will be the act that plays before the headliner (or perhaps the third from last). Michael Eavis saw them at their re-scheduled gig in Bristol last night, and we're told that although the band were keeping their lips tightly zipped, the same can't be said for Michael. Saturday night - which Michael has been quoted as saying would have "the best songwriters in the world today" - we believe will be headlined by Coldplay. We're…

A-ha take on Coldplay - Jan 18th Coldplay have teamed up with A-ha - well one member of the Norwegian trio at least. Mags, who now goes under the name of Magne, performed a showcase of his new material in London last night. His solo album features collaborations with Ed Harcourt, Andy from Travis and Will and Guy from Coldplay. Magne told us how it all came about: "It's a friendship network really - with Coldplay we met in Barcelona on tour." "It's a friendly thing and we then came to realise that they'd grown up as A-ha fans - we had sort of a mutual appreciation society happening!" "They have been to Norway since, and as my kids are huge fans I co…

Fatherhood has spurred campaigning Chris Martin to do even more work for charity. Chris has always been passionate about causes like fair trade and the third world debt - but has become even more committed about making the world a better place since his actress wife Gwyneth Paltrow gave birth to baby daughter Apple in May last year. He explains, "Being a new father has made me look at the world differently. I'm a father who travels a lot and has seen how rich nations like ours exploit poorer ones through crazy trade laws and huge debts. I want the world to be a better place when my daughter has grown up. "I don't want my daughter having an adulthood like somethin…

We have heard from many sources that the new album is not done, even from the band members themselves. But how close are we talking? Are they still recording, still deciding between those final tracks, or are they deciding a tracklist and doing final artwork? I know we have been hearing a few bits of news but nothing really official, and I am really starting to wonder how far off this album really is. I know it's for a great cause, but Chris going to Ghana for Oxfam while the band still isn't done the album just doesn't seem right to me. Has anyone else been thinking this?

"yellow" saves their debut album. "the scientist" and "clocks" save their sophomore album. people are trusting chris martin to keep on writing classic songs. if their next album is filled with fantastic but not classic songs, people will say they are a "3 hit wonder" band and their career would be doomed  im seriously worrying about them... it ain't easy to write classic songs... a lot of my friends love coldplay only because of the classics such as the scientist and yellow. without these two hits, CP wouldn't have been so big      my 2 cents, dont criticize me   new male member: Howie

Will Champion popped into have a brief chat with Jo Whiley today (Thu 6th Jan) and admitted he was nervous after not having done an interview for about 16 months. He succeeding in keeping most album information secret although he did reveal that "What If" is one of his favourite songs. "I think it's going to be one to watch out for in my opinion". He revealed the album was not quite finished and so no definite release date as yet. He called it a "never ending process", with "some old songs resurfacing that had been put on the back burner". He discussed track listings and the number of songs: "We've got about 14 or 15 to choose from, but we want to try for 10, or 11 wo…

Check This Out. About two weeks ago I checked out amazon.co.uk and they had the release date up for March 28th. Now they have posted May 24th, so is this a sign that because the album is yet to be completed they are forced to push back everything? If we have to wait until May I will be dissapointed, although I know it would be worth the wait. http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0006L16N8/qid%3D1101828285/sr%3D1-32/ref%3Dsr%5F1%5F2%5F32/202-5138289-7290259

Q Magazine (Jan 2005 edition) revealed their number 1 anticipated album of 2005 is Coldplay's 3rd LP. Here's what they had to say: The biggest albums and brightest new stars of the next 12 months revealed... Number 1 - Coldplay. The most anticipated album of this coming year. "We came off tour thinking that we were the dog's bollocks," says guitarist Jonny Buckland. "We quickly realised that wasn't the case." After spending the best part of a year working on the follow-up to 2002's A Rush Of Blood To The Head, the band recently ditched everything - including long-time producer Ken Nelson - to make a fresh start. Despite the upheaval, the album is set to see the l…
