So, after realizing that there isn't a thread for Roland Garros, or tennis in general. I thought it would be nice to discuss a bit about the tournament. I really hope I'm not the only avid tennis fan on here... First of all, I am really pumped that both Raonic and Bouchard are in the round of 16! Neither of them are especially good on clay, and it's always amazing to see that Canada actually has some tennis players. It would take a miracle for Raonic to win, but Bouchard has a pretty good chance, especially with Williams out. (Which was the oddest thing of the whole tournament so far) Djokovitch is not playing his best at all, which is actually quite good, because…

So I don't know if this is just happening to me but ever since chrome updated to the newest version it stopped working on my computer. Every time I try to open it, it opens briefly and then freezes. I've tried un-installing it and re-installing it, deleting all of its files and it still doesn't work. Does any one know how to fix this?

NEWS IN RELATION TO EARTHQUAKES ETC. AND ACTUAL NATURAL DISASTERS The reason for creating this NEW THREAD called "UPDATES OF THE SITUATION IN THE SOUTHEAST ASIA" is: TO MAKE IT EASY - FOR THOSE INTERESTED - TO HAVE AN OVERVIEW OF THE SITUATION IN THAT REGION including - what is going on in that region - the relief efforts of the relief organizations AND - some articles with reports for instance from the rescuers or someone from the relief organizations being in the area to get an overview of the situation. On 10 May 2010 I am renaming the thread to cover natural disasters as such. New name should be: NEWS IN RELATION TO NATURAL DISASTERS. …

Ok... I understand that Coldplay is a global band at this point, but with their British roots, and the amount of British fans on this forum... some of you have got to like Formula One, right? As Chris would say "Anybody out there?" Yes, I am American, yes I love Formula One. I was hoping we could have a conversation.

Swedish soccer match called off after man dies amid fan fighting STOCKHOLM - A Swedish soccer league match was called off during the first half Sunday after a man died following fighting among fans before the game. The 43-year-old Djurgarden fan was found "seriously injured" about 2:30 p.m. in central Helsingborg in southern Sweden, police said. He was taken to a hospital, where he died. He reportedly had been hit in the head by an object. Swedish media said Djurgarden fans stormed the field after word spread that the man had died. Police did not release his name and said no arrests had been made. "The Djurgarden family is in mourning," the Stockholm club s…

Google developing smart contact lens Google's vision for wearable technology took another ambitious leap forward Thursday when the world's largest Internet search company announced it is developing a smart contact lens. The lens measures glucose in tears using a wireless chip and miniaturized glucose sensor. While at a very early stage, Google hopes the technology could help people manage diabetes better. The project is the latest invention to emerge from the company's Google X unit, which works on long-term, risky new technology that may never become commercially successful but has the potential to change the way people live in drastic ways. The …

I stumbled upon this trilogy quite by accident. I saw the trailer for the film a couple months before I considered reading the books and well-before I found myself up late at night, refusing to put the books down. It is great, to say the least. But to say little is never my style, especially about something I like. Back to the series. It is fantastic, gruesome, adventurous, and the author, Suzanne Collins, has the reader hanging on till the very last sentence of the trilogy. I thoroughly enjoyed this fascinating and original story, and I have a feeling most others will, though this is based on nothing much other than the fact I was completely enthralled with this tale;…

Tove Jansson: Love, war and the MoominsBy Mark Bosworth Helsinki This year Finland is celebrating the centenary of the birth of Tove Jansson, creator of the Moomins, and one of the most successful children's writers ever. Her life included war and lesbian relationships - both reflected by the Moomins in surprising ways. There is Moomintroll, Moominmamma and Moominpappa - little white trolls who live in Moominvalley, with other fantastical creatures such as the Hattifatteners, Mymbles and Whompers. Tove Jansson's Moomin books have sold in their millions, and been translated into 44 languages. Philip Pullman, author of His Dark Materials, has described her…

What are your opinions about this case? Before the verdict is announced, do you think she is guilty or innocent? Although the case is getting a bit of press here in the U.S., the details still aren't clear (at least, not to me). I'm particularly interested in the opinions of those from Italy, since you probably hear more details regarding this case...
