I think I will enjoy it live, but it's not the kind of Coldplay song I favour on a record. It's meant to be an EDM song and I'm not an EDM fan. But there's going to be something for everyone on this album, old fans and new.

I think the track makes perfect sense in context of the album. Sequencing seems to go from a darker to a lighter more positive-thinking tone and ASFOS definitely has single appeal, I think it will do great! After hearing the clips yesterday on Zane the album sounds really strong.

You should know that I sat through ALL of Mylo Xyloto...I kept hoping and hoping for over 2 years for them to somehow fix the commercial crap. When I heard this I genuinely exclaimed 'what the F*****K' which for me is the only possible reaction to this song. I'm genuinely ashamed to call myself a Coldplay fan at this point.

Its better than ETIAW, Paradise and DLIBYH IMO, they all had a 'plastic' quality to them in terms of production that this doesn't have. I feel it's slightly more grounded, yes it has pointlessly overbearing synths but the track has a decent vocal. Tbh I feel the two singles on this album (Magic and ASFOS) are the weakest track on an otherwise flawless album so far, and I have high hopes for Ink and True Love. All of this hate is unjustified.

I think its overly produced Coldplay song. (see the I THINK part, yeah its what I think). Like I think PoC and ETIAW are overly produced. I'm not saying its a bad song. Its just not my cup of tea.

im sorry I think this just brings an uplifting feeling for the album.. Even with it being so produced I think it works because we know the meaning and why its there.. so I actually really do love it ! I cant believe some of you can be so down on an album that obviously is done for other reasons then to please us.. Just enjoy the emotion of it ..

Am I the only one who thinks that Avicii did a really good job with the production (except for that drumkick he uses everywhere)?

Also, some of the reactions in this thread take me back to when ETIAW and Paradise were relased. I missed having a good laugh while reading all the comments.

Sitting through all of your posts is the real challenge

Man this song is intense, I don't even want to stay put when listening to it. I can't help but jump around. Can't wait to hear it in concert! It sucks so many people dislike this song on the forums, ah well, whatya gonna do? All I know is that Ghost Stories will have a lot of variety and I'm welcoming all the different styles Coldplay has to offer with open arms.

That's exactly what I see it as! I don't really think it's that bad as everyone's making it out to be, it's just all the over hype that I'm guessing to most it didn't live up to that has everyone going nuts! As some people have stated, I definitely see this being one of the tunes that people will be going nuts to when it's played live. Just calm down everyone, it's just one song from the album, enjoy the rest :)

Really? You are acting like MX was some awful album, It had some pretty good songs in it. A couple songs shouldn't effect your whole view on a band. They have more hits than any band out right now, You shouldn't feel ashamed to be a fan of coldplay because they consistently make great music. If you don't like a couple of songs thats okay. Tell me what other band in the past 15 years has as many hits as them? None.

I'm sure we're all VERY proud that you sat through all of MX. But if you're gonna quit on Coldplay for whatever reason, no one is gonna miss you.

Listened to it for I dunno, 11 times now, and don't want to listen to it anymore, whereas I can listen to Always In Your head for like hours.

 

WELL let's just say, the song is fucking powerful live and I loved it, I guess it's just too upbeat and EDM for me. It definitely sounds like a cool Coldplay remix, but not like an actually Coldplay song.

As it currently stands they mine as well just changed the song to "Avicii Ft Chris Martin"
