I won't ever want them to become Radiohead, or at least, this Radiohead.

I'm glad they're striving more to be themselves now. Regardless of what people may say.

Songs like Coloratura and Arabesque frustrate me because they prove Coldplay can still make powerful, boundary-pushing and highly creative music, but they actively choose not to 90% of the time.

I'm just hoping there's some sort of resemblance to the X&Y sound in LP9. Moving To Mars is a great example of a non-Oldplay song that's like that. It reminds me of What If. But I also want someth

Yeah it's so weird My Universe and Coloratura are going to be on the same album, I feel like track track 10-12 is going to be very this:

I won't ever want them to become Radiohead, or at least, this Radiohead. Not because A Moon Shaped Pool isn't a good album (it is), but because we have to look at things with balance and not calling a masterpiece every album Radiohead put out.

Yes, we all agree Coldplay should take a less mainstream musical pattern, but I still think people overrated this new RH album, like every time they released something from 1998 on.

I don't know what people say, but I wanted to say that I actually don't like most of Radiohead's discography, and especially In Rainbows and The Ling of limbs. I feel they got kinda carried away with that experimental ambition, but I am glad to see they have come back with MSP.

I'm glad too, but what I wanted to say is that Coldplay will never be Radiohead, and that's a fact. I'd only like to have ©oldplay back just one more time... after that Chris can marry Ariana Grande, Will can become an actor, Guy a photomodel and Jonny a barman

Coldplay or Radiohead? If you mean Coldplay then please tell me where I can find an artist that made more of Coldplay pre 2011

I never wanted Coldplay to be Radiohead. I love Radioheads 2nd and 3rd albums but when you compare Coldplays sophomore and third effort, it's a completely different sound. The relationship is purely casual and the similarities are only surface level.

Coldplay should just be Coldplay and signature Coldplay is the first three albums.

Oldplayers, listen up !

We (The I Ran Away Project) are in the final stages of preparing our video message to the band, asking them to play I Ran Away live during the AHFOD Tour 2016.

The last part of the video will feature the usernames of all Coldplaying members who support the idea to ask for I Ran Away live.

I am including those that have already said they would sign a petition like that. If you want to include YOUR username in the message sent to the band, please message me or post your intention here !

The audio is already availble in this thread, the video will be available shortly:

Wow that performance in Barcelona, good memories :)

Nice little video I Ran Away. Best of luck to you, hope they pick your request.

See You Son with the whole band for the first time. the feels! :wacky:

Wow wow wooow I kind of just found this thread and I love everything about it. It's not like an homogeneous pack of nostalgic and purist thoughts, but there actually is a variety of ideas and opinions here, freely expressed without constant judgement over being "puritanical", "fake-fan for not liking everything Coldplay does".

This thread is perfect and it feels like sweet home to me.

I don't know if it was discussed or said already (couldn't read more than the first 5 pages on mobile app) but my opinion about the direction the band's sound has taken is that maybe it's not just Chris's emotional state, but maybe the band relationship as well. More than 18 years being together may have tired, worn their relationship, their sync, their will of playing music together out. Maybe this new soulless but independent sound is what made it comfortable for each one of them to keep playing together as a band. Maybe if they took a break until they started missing sharing their energy with one another...

As it turns out, working full time and taking college classes eats up most of your time. I'll watch that See You Soon performance when I get home. Still waiting on Strawberry Swing though.

A typical situation these times: An old song is chosen as request. Jonny, Guy and Will deliver without a problem. Chris forgets lyrics and/or generally messes up something.

What is it with Chris and the old songs ? :( I feel there is not much love for the old songs from Chris... There also seems to be a certain rush to get songs over with as quickly as possible:

Yeah... it seems like he doesn't put much effort in preparing for these songs

To be fair remembering lyrics is way more difficult for me than remembering how to play a song. With that being said, it's kind of his job.

To be honest I've noticed it isn't just these songs either... He mixes up other lyrics even to brand new songs pretty often it seems. Ones that come to mind are Amazing Day and Army of One, among a few others.

I don't know what's up with Chris. Mixing words on songs old and new, and of course the clocks thing. I really hope he is well... Perhaps he's just become a little too carefree. But I don't know...

Yeah, I wonder the same. He took such an emotional hit the past couple years. It may all be catching up with him. I sometimes also wonder if he is just tiring of the band or vice versa. He seems to be doing more on his own, like the Global Citizen artist procurement gig and The Voice a couple years ago.

Intentional or not, when they stop mid song it really ruins the performance for me.

This tour seems all about showmanship and flashy appearance rather than the actual music.
