Hymn for the Weekend

I think this song is getting a single release on Friday. Pure speculation but hear me out:

We have already seen Amazon CD's advertising both AOAL and HFTW which means that they are both singles AND that they both will be hyped up tracks BEFORE the album release. This Friday will be two weeks before the album release and two weeks after AOAL release.

To me this would make perfect sense and would potentially get more attention as a Beyonce track and more hype build up (which frankly I don't think AOAL has done very well here in the US. still haven't heard it on radio.)

In my opinion next week(Friday) would be a more likely option, theres probably gonna be more hype to it and Coldplay will be focused on the tidal performance this Saturday, which should show AOAL,Amazing Day,Everglow,Up&Up and AHFOD based on the sound check last friday.Unless they suddenly add Hymn in as well there dosent seem to be much point of getting another single out so quickly without much hype.

I don't think they will release another single before the album since AOAL video will be released a week before the album release.

My guess is the second single will be officially released in January or February

My hope for this song has dwindled into a tiny speck of cold dust floating out in infinite space.

God, I'm scared to listen to it at this point

If inspired by Flo Rida, that is the most thing i have ever heard... Truly one of the worst hip-hop artists of our time and even a worse pop artist. Every one of his hits has been a really sh*tty remix of a classic 80's song. Blech....

Hope this is a joke..

Still really excited to hear this song though: we know its going to be radio friendly and possibly a club banger, but then again, it has choirs and meaningful lyrics? Could be really good! But the question is whether or not it is actually a banger or not..and if so, then to what capacity? EDM, Dance Rock? Funk?

Similar feeling, not quite as bad though. Even Avicii is capable of making better music than Flo Rida. I'm just relieved FR isn't rapping on the track, considering the way Chris has been going lately. "We recently got one of the most talented musicians we've ever heard to be on A Head Full of Dreams. I can't reveal much else but let's just say these birds on the album cover are flying high "In the Ayer." :laugh3: Imagine? :(

Then why would they advertise Hymn For The Weekend on the front of the album (see the cd at amazon.com) if no one had heard it yet?

^Indeed. We haven't heard the track yet. Yes, we now know it is an explosive club stomper, but we don't know what that entails musically. Obviously they are not going to make a song that sounds anything like Turn Down For What or Flo Rida haha. The only thing we can really expect is a repetitive dance beat and probably some heavy bass. Everything else is on the table. Who knows! Could be the next VLV or Clocks!
