  2. Coldplay - 'Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends' (EMI) Released: 12/06/08 4/5 If singer Chris Martin is to believed, then, in 2006, the world came very close to losing Coldplay. In a recent interview to promote his band’s fourth album, Martin (who it should be said has a reputation for exasperated self-deprecation) claimed that the foundations of Coldplay were crumbling to such an extent as touring for their last album, ‘X&Y’, drew to an end, that they had stopped talking to each other altogether. Too many “swanky dinners” and endless award ceremonies had, according to the singer, left Coldplay in a state of disrepair, and left Martin wanting to “erase the p…

  5. First, I have to start telling that Ben got the gift ideas for Chris and Jonny from me!!! Scroll down to see the proof!!! I think that's the reason why Ben got Chris to say hello to me on the show! Although Ben referred to me as a "she", when I am clearly a "he", it was amazing to hear Chris say "I am going to see hello to Mariano in Caracas". I am going to play that bit part over and over again!!! The only bad thing is that my friends are going to bother me with the "she" thing, saying that I am gay because I like Coldplay...So, I need your support coldplayers!, LOL! I want to say THANKS!!! to Ben Jones, he is really an amazing guy! Congrats on you becoming a fathe…

From: http://winnipegsun.com/Entertainment/Music/2008/06/10/5827206-sun.html Viva Coldplay! Chris Martin & Co. breathe new life into their music with groundbreaking fourth album By DARRYL STERDAN "We reached the stage where we thought, 'We can't get much bigger, so we have to try and get better.' " So said Chris Martin on The Hour last week, explaining Coldplay's state of mind going into their fourth album. Well, lots of bands talk that talk. But these Brit-rockers actually walked the walk. They set up a rehearsal space/clubhouse to work casually and undisturbed. They brought in visionary producer/guru Brian Eno -- known for his work with U2 -…

  8. New Coldplay album set to smash sales records Coldplay's fourth album, Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends, is likely to become the biggest selling album of the year, according to online retailer Play.com. The entertainment website says it expect the four-piece's new release to achieve its biggest pre-sale order ever. Customers have been snapping up copies of the Brian Eno-produced album at the rate of one every minute during peak times and it looks set to exceed the sales figures of the hugely successful Spirit, by X Factor winner Leona Lewis. And while Violet Hill, the first single from Chris Martin and co, was released as a free download, Viva La Vida…

Don't get me wrong I love Coldplay i really do and I love the album its there best yet. But I just feel after seeing the live performances that theres something wrong with Will and Guy Mentally. Chris is very much best friends with Jonny and it seems while performing Chris Acknowledges Jonny way more than the other two. It makes you wonder if there is jealousy or slight envy from Will and Guy. I hope im wrong i really do as they have in the past seemed really close as a unit but Guy (I no his is shy) doesn't seem quite with it he seems very distant. Musically no problems from any of the four but i just hope they stay together as a group and move upwards and onwards... …

  14. I LOVE COLDPLAY! I really really do, and with that said, I have to have a small rant. If I ever see them in those fucking jackets again, I am going to throw up and then cry. At first, I was like wow, those are different, and they fit with the video well, but now they wear those fucking things everywhere. I know they have to stink by now, because none of them are too keen on changing clothes that often. I was watching an interview with Liam Gallagher, the crazy sod that he is, said something that hit me and it was that they (oasis) don't go for all the glitz and glamour crap, that they are just 5 lads on stage playing their music and they don't need a big stageshow or f…

  15. Coldplay Give Track-By-Track Tour Of Viva La Vida, Explain Handclaps, Tack Pianos And The Number 42 'The longer you go on as a band, the harder it is to surprise yourself,' frontman Chris Martin says. By James Montgomery There probably won't be a bigger rock album released this year than Coldplay's Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends, unless, of course, Bono and company decide to bless us with whatever they've been working on. And even then, it's probably still going to be close. Because at this point, Coldplay might be the biggest rock act in the world. Like fellow giants U2 or Radiohead, they don't release albums so much as they create events, which…

  23. Will Champion, left, Guy Berryman, Chris Martin and Jonny Buckland of Coldplay. Coldplay has sold 30 million copies of its first three albums, won four Grammys and cranked out several colossal ballads that, by apparent mandate of the Writers Guild, must be played during every TV drama's romantic-crisis montage. Only the deaf can claim not to know Coldplay. Loving Coldplay is a bit more complicated. Thanks to the band's ubiquity and decency about rock stardom, Coldplay has nudged its way into a place alongside U2 and Radiohead in the holy trinity of bands that affluent adults consider good, good-hearted and worth breaking the bank to see in concert. But a small cult …

  24. There have probably been dozens of threads like this over the years, but what the hey? What was the first thing that jumped out at you and made you fall in love with coldplay? For me it was a feel of innocence in their music in an era where there was so much angry, cynical music being made. Don't Panic had such a sweetness about it.:) Even though they're much more worldly now, that thread of innocence still runs through almost everything they do.

  25. Unless you’ve been hiding in an anaerobic chamber under a rock in a former nuclear weapons testing site, you’ll know Coldplay’s new record is almost upon us. Gareth Dobson gives The Quietus’ track-by-track lowdown. Given that Coldplay’s third album X&Y was a clunking dogs dinner of a record strewn carelessly across the studio floor and hastily reassembled, it’s reasonable to be more than a little cautious about another much vaunted Chris Martin effort. Dont forget that X&Y came on the back of a press barrage that suggested strongly that the record would save lives, whiten teeth and resolve the Middle-Eastern peace process; it was essentially the biggest bou…
