  4. I appreciate you're all excited, and that there is currently no search function available, but please check the first couple of pages before starting a new thread on anything related to the new album. Chances are, someone's started one :D :kiss::kiss::kiss: KEEP COLDPLAYING TIDY Now the search function is up & running again, please use it. And lets try & stick to the relevant forums. If its about one of the songs, use the sub-forum in Coldplay. About a show: Coldplay Live. General Coldplay news: Coldplay. Completely Random: The Lounge. SPAM: don't even bother !!

I Checked to see if this was posted and couldnt find it anywhere. Great review for those of us that prefer reviewers that GUSH!!!! Viva La Vida leaks! PMA has an initial review! Yesterday, Viva La Vida or Death and And All His Friends leaked. And PMA is happy to report that the once-ridiculed band (stemming from a classic 40 year-Old Virgin joke) is now cool to like again. So stop hiding, Coldplay fans. Rejoice. Because Viva La Vida may just be 2008’s best album so far. “When it started we had high hopes,” Chris Martin sings on “Yes,” one of the ten new songs Coldplay has laid out for us with their new album, Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends. This l…

Not sure if this is good or bad but i thought it was a good read We all got to listen to Viva La Vida today, so we're sort of in the same boat here. Press play, and the album starts with "Life In Technicolor," a shimmery piece of keys and electronics that eventually moves into a "Where The Streets Have No Name"-y, lyricless rev-up, all of which is an announcement: Hey, did you hear we got Brian Eno to do this record? Hey, we did -- and now we're sorta hoping this to be Coldplay's Joshua Tree. Unfortunately, that it is not. But it is great at not being X&Y, which is a major accomplishment. Over three albums, Chris Martin found a simple and relatively understate…

  9. So here is my biggest complain about the album other than I wish they just made it 13 tracks long rather than double tracking. I feel that because Viva La Vida and Violet Hill were released early, not only did I not realize how awesome the songs actually are when listening to the entire album, but they also are relatively overlooked in anyone's top songs. While I think the entire album is amazing, there is not a doubt in my mind that they are both in my top 5 out of 13, Viva La Vida facing off with "Yes" and "42" for my top spot. It was worth having the songs early to promote the hype, especially with such killer songs remaining; however, does anyone wish they could h…

  11. Anybody else agree? It's sooo difficult now only because VLVODAAHF changed my life!! I can see why they aren't extremely proud with X&Y after hearing this- Just wondering if I'm the only one who feels this way. Obviously I'll love them for everything they've done, but I cannot shut this new stuff off!!!;)

It makes for interesting conversations, but generally I don't think it's a good idea to compare albums or songs and rank them against each other. You're sort of turning the music into something to be studied, like pulling the wings off a butterfly. Leave it alone for a bit.

  13. MTV News spoke to Chris Martin and Johnny Buckland about their love of Rihanna, working with Kylie and their awesome new album… MTV News: When and how did you decide to start this new album? Chris Martin: What normally happens with us and what definitely happened this time is as soon as we finish one record, we think we can do better and so we start working on another one because we feel like we have everything to prove again. You know what I mean? So as soon as we finished X&Y, we got straight back to work because we knew we could do something better. How do you go about writing as a group? CM: We have a team of 8 year olds who work in a factory just ou…

Now that we've got a few "reputable" dead-tree blogs (aka "newspapers") reviewing VLVODAAHF, let's tear apart the critics. Begin by noticing these criticisms are mostly directed at the persons behind the music (ad hominem for you logic-lovers our there). Here are some of the common tid bits I've noticed they enjoy pulling from their bag of tricks: 1. Chris Martin is married to Gwyneth Paltrow. (TIME magazine) By citing this irrelevant fact again and again, reviewers are planting a seed in the minds of readers that encourages a connection with Hollywood, and the fast-paced, superficial lifestyle it represents. Therefore, Coldplay's music is …

  23. June 6, 2008 Coldplay: Viva La Vida Pete Paphides Risk schmisk. An album just like the last one – now that really would have been a risk for Coldplay. But pre-release murmurs that their new album represents a leap into the unknown put you in mind of someone being made to walk the plank and them saying they fancied a dip anyway. The fact is that there’s no reason to believe that Coldplay are a gambling band. For album two, A Rush of Blood to the Head, they super-sized the formula that had worked so well on Parachutes. Having gone global, prudence prevailed with album three. X&Y stacked up unspecific stadium anthems that, in emotional terms, seemed to do t…

Don't think this has been posted, checked last three pages, let me know if it has though :) Coldplay almost fell apart in recent years, but reconnected through unconventional bonding exercises (like making their own clothes and buying their own studio). The resulting album has fewer anthems and more low-key music, says Chris Martin. He tells Brian Boyd about hating paparazzi, loving Christy Moore and why his band are "the seventh best in the world" A GROUP of drunk, colour-blind four-year-olds were trying to draw the Sgt Pepper's outfits worn by The Beatles. The resultant sketches were taken to a first-time clothes designer who ran up something awful-looking and g…

Now that we've all heard the album, what songs do you think would be likely singles? There are 2 singles left assuming they stick to the 4 single routine, though a 5th one may be in limited release in some countries. Right now I'm pretty doubtful that 42 will be released. Lovers in Japan is probably next, and they'll probably release Death and All His Friends afterwards since it's been on Grey Anatomy and such. So far we know 1. Violet Hill 2. Viva la Vida 3. Lovers In Japan (maybe) 4. ???
