Watchdog bans Make Poverty History ads (September 12, 2005) LONDON (Reuters) - Make Poverty History (MPH), hailed as one of the most effective lobbying campaigns ever with its simple message and signature white wrist band, was banned on Monday from television and radio advertising in Britain. Advertising watchdog Ofcom said the goals of its campaign, including an array of stars clicking their fingers to ram home the message that a child dies of preventable poverty every three seconds, were political and therefore outlawed. "We have reached the unavoidable conclusion that MPH is a body whose objects are 'wholly or mainly' political as defined under the Act. MPH is…

At the risk of sounding technologically idiotic, is there any way I can convert AVI movie files to other types, specifically MPEG. There are so many great AVI videos on this forum, I'd like to burn them to a SVCD or something like that. I've searched all over the web and can't find a good *free* program for stuff like this. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Still loving this show and I watch it religiously however I was thrilled on Saturday night to hear "Square One" being played when they went to the Premiership table! Did anyone else notice this? It also occured on MOTD2 on Sunday and I guess this is going to be a regular thing. If you haven't noticed this then watch out, it's quite cool...

Dear oh dear EXCLUSIVE: COCAINE KATE By Stephen Moyes THE Daily Mirror today reveals shocking pictures of supermodel Kate Moss snorting a fat line of cocaine during a debauched drugs and drink session with junkie lover Pete Doherty. As the white powder induces a sudden rush to her brain, she rocks back in her seat and laughs hysterically. The coke is kicking in. Within seconds she leans forward and again sniffs into a tightly rolled-up £5 note, hoovering up every last grain of the Class A drug. It is clear from the extraordinary images, captured during a Mirror undercover investigation, that the 31-year-old catwalk queen is a practised user. Rumou…

North Korea insists on peaceful nuclear program The Associated Press TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 2005 BEIJING North Korea on Tuesday insisted it has a right to a peaceful nuclear program, dimming prospects for progress at international talks on ending the communist nation's atomic weapons program. Envoys were arriving in Beijing for the resumption later Tuesday of six-nation talks on the issue. The latest round, the fourth since 2003, broke for a recess last month after a record 13 straight days of talks failed to yield an agreement. The North's demands for a civilian nuclear program have become a sticking point, with Washington strongly resisting the notion, …

Its fab!! I thought it was ace. I was really impressed by how gripping it was even though a large majority of the action/dialogue takes place between the 2 characters whilst they're sat on the plan, trapped in their seats by bad weather.

Hey guys, I'm working with my friend Ryan (Hydroponikz an aspiring rapper) on making a website design and truth is I'm running out of free time, and anything we create I just dont really like. So anyone who is very experienced in website coding (minimum knowledge: CSS, PHP/HTML, Flash) want to help me code/design my friend's site? We want to get him out there asap. Also anyone who could provide hosting for his music/help us make a good flash player built into the main site would rock too. I unfortunately cannot really pay (for certain reasons which I will gladly state if neccesary), so I'd want someone who can do it for hobby. If anyone wants to do it just for th…
