Post speculation on what may happen after death. These do not have to be serious but they can be. This thread stems from a dream I had at some point within the last year. I will start with my own personal opinion, which I feel is most likely. Personally I feel that the most likely outcome after death would be that there is nothing. There is the analogy some people use that it is like a computer breaking and not working again. I feel that because we are a collection of atoms, these are simply recycled within the universe and return to the earth. Because these atoms never meet together in the same structure again (as that would be impossible given the amount of atoms we …

I thought I would just ask what your high school experience is or was if you remember. Was it good, bad, enriching, pointless? Since I graduate Saturday, I must say time flew by faster than I thought. What comes to mind first when you think of high school?

Hi guys, I visited 2 Coldplay concerts of the MX tour in Germany during the last year. Before the Back to the Future Theme was played, some kind of Hip-Hop song was played very loudly (at each concert). What I understood from the lyrics was something like: "99 dogs and a bitchy one" ...what seems to be total nonsense :(. Has anybody an idea from what song I'm talking here? I searched (nearly) everywhere for it... Cheers, Jan

So fucking annoying. Only just realised. Think I did it about eleven hours ago too. Leg all blue. Might even post a pic of my bare thigh to get the thread going. Share your stories of leaking ink.

OK, I'm unsure of where to put this thread. I was thinking of News and Sports because it is discussing current news from around the world. Then I was thinking Entertainment and Arts because it is a magazine and it is famed for it's photography. Also, it seems like the place where a book club should belong. Please can somebody move it to the appropriate section of the board. Anyway, the other day I bought my first National Geographic after my friend was letting me read his and I find it so fascinating. It is a monthly magazine and each issue costs £4.99, so quite expensive, but then I found out if you get a 12 month subscription you can get all 12 issues AND get the…

It's been a while since I've started a thread. Recently I've been reevaluating my life, especially after some really rough patches with work. Anyway, it's made me think more of how I have so much shit, yet I'm not happy really, and how by doing things rather than buying shit it's what I like. Things like playing music, going outside/being in nature, writing, etc. So the topic popped up and I began reading more about it how people try and minimalize the things they have in their lives (mostly things), and focus on what's really important and brings them most happiness. I wanted to see what you thought of this topic and if you have ever tried it. There's this great…

I have terrible problems with stress (to the point where If you look up the symptoms, I probably have had all of them at one time or another). One of the signs is small habits and annoyingly I can't stop rubbing my hands through my hair and pulling out hair. I only just changed my bed sheets and there are already loads of loose hairs on it :uhoh:  My sister even said that she noticed thinner patches on my head. I start exams on Tuesday and I finish in over a month. I would like to still have hair by the end. Does anyone have any good tips for reducing stress? Does anyone else suffer from stress problems?

A place to discuss pornography. This can range from concerns people have on young people and access to pornography, the affects they feel it has on people, personal views on it, both positive and negative, anything you want. I'll leave it as open ended as possible before putting forward my input at some point in the future but for the time being i just wanna see how the thread evolves. I'd rather it be mature discussions about pornography than simply a pervy/hater thread but do with it as you will. I make the thread as there is a lot of discussion at the moment about young people and the internet but the thread can be used to discuss all facets of pornography.

Before reading, I recommend reading into this interesting speech. It's from a celebration of the anniversary of the Internet a few years ago. It's more about pop culture and being a teen before the Internet was around. Highly fascinating, and sort of links in with what I started rambling about. If you don't want to read much then just skip ahead and read my rant, it's enough writing as it is. Right, so everything's boring. Well not everything, but from my perspective it kind of is, because I'm a young person and like the young people before me, all I really care about is pop culture and immersing myself in the world of music and fashion and books and TV sh…

This thread (if it takes off) will likely spread out into wider discussions on the media but I just wanted to start a discussion on the way that the news reports certain events, and the events they choose to report on. I could also sit here all day and talk about some of the methods of gaining the images and information that they then report on but I'll keep it restricted to this. Some of you will have heard of the Daily Mail sidebar of shame. On the online site it used to be filled with women in bikini's. Someone too fat, someone too skinny, someone too something. Always 'too'. And there'd be a feast of perverted photo's and teasing captions to get the click required …

I don´t care if someone replies this thread. I just wanna say something here I can´t write in another site. I REALLY MISS MY CLASSMATES, mostly the most annoying ones. It´s that I miss their jokes and laughes. When I was at school, I couldn´t do with it. They were always trying to distract everyone, pissing off the teachers, and all that kind of things that assholes can do. And the worst thing is that all the teachers hated us because we were the most unbearable of the school, wich was true. And I complined that we were always in trouble because of them. But... after all this time without them, Ive found out that the uni is not the same. Everyone is too mature for me ri…

Last night I had a dream that I was playing football (with quite a few random people who I didn't know) in the evening. All of a sudden an old man came from out of the trees unconvincingly dressed as Father Christmas. On the other side of the pitch to him were two young children, who (for some reason I knew) were his grandchildren. Anyway, he looked really sad, but was trying his hardest to make the kids happy. People who were playing football got annoyed though because he kept coming on the pitch to try and give the presents, interrupting the game. This made the grandchildren kind of disappointed, at Father Christmas more than anyone. So I looked to the side and saw I…

Has anybody ever done these? My friend has been doing them and he seems to enjoy them. I'm unsure of their worth, but this isn't my major motivation for completing them. I want to do them to occupy me and to learn new things. I've previously used a site called Coursera which provides courses from big US universities such as Harvard, etc. I've only watched the videos (of three courses - one on an introduction to sociology, one on evolutionary biology and the other on neuroscience and drugs). I'm about to start a course on edx.org titled Human Health and Global Environmental Change, but this time I will be actually taking part in the work, rather than just dipping in …

Does anyone have a "shrine" in their room to their passions, whether it's music, gigs, a certain musician or a fandom? These are the ones in my house; the first is my sister's one to Coldplay, the second one has my gig tickets (thought I need to the rest). I read somewhere that Paul Weller used to have one to the Beatles. Feel free to share pictures or whatever.

Saw the word in one of Nick's threads further down the list and wanted people's thoughts on it. It's an interesting beast, culture. It shapes who you are and is therefore vitally important, both it's positive and negative aspects. It's highly likely much of what you believe and indeed take for granted is based on your culture. The laws in your culture, how diverse and open to diversity your culture is, the music of your culture, the media of your culture, all affect you. Even down to the language you speak. Different languages conjure up different images and some languages have words for things that others do not. The variety of idioms used also lead to a plethora o…

Has anyone else ever lost something that they've never found again, even when they've moved house/cleared the entire room out? I'm just curious as to whether I'm going mad; I've lost four bottles of squash, three items of clothing, my girlfriend's phone and a razor, that were all put in the same place on the floor. I lock my room when I'm not in it. Not sure it's paranormal, but it's a bit odd.
