Random Coldplay thoughts...

Featured Replies

Just rewatched the Live 2012 dvd to be ready for Everyday Life ... and i must say that MX tour and MX era were definitely the best to me. It may not be their best record but feels like the moment where they truly became legendary. The shows and the symbiosis between every member were at their best. Plus it reminds me a time of my life where i was allowed to be dreamy...

  • I just wanted to say, after 5 years of being part of the Coldplay fandom, first on Coldplaying, now on Coldplaying, Twitter and other platforms, a wonderful thing happened today: Coldplay followed me

  • I ran away
    I ran away

On this day exactly 5 years ago, a young and innocent person who was just getting really into Coldplay wanted to sign up on a forum called Coldplaying. Faced with the question of what to pick as a use

  • Today exactly 5 years ago, I joined the Coldplaying community and I don't regret that that. To be honest, it's probably one of the best things that have happened in my life! I had never thought I woul

Coldplay will perform at the Maida Vale Studios in London this month!

It's been 12 years since the last time Coldplay visited the studio to do a performance back in 2007!

Coldplay will do something like an evening session (Chris' words) at Maida Vale Studios, performance announced by Annie Mac here:

Unfortunately, we don't know when they will do this ''evening session''.

I don't know if the BBC Radio 1's broadcast on November 10th has anything do do with it,

here's the link : https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000b77z

By the way @Stephen, is it possible for you to fix the links' colour because white doesn't make it easier to read them :grinning:

I thought the same today :D :D

It kind of annoys me tbh :joy:

Random Coldplay thought:

I think Coldplay should do more soundtracks for films/movies, I think they are really good in writing songs like this. Remember Miracles and Atlas. I love these songs, especially Atlas.

It's almost 5 am and I am listening to a 40 minute long Coldplay Christmas playlist( made in 2016 by a wonderful Coldplayer here can't remember who) :joy: Don't judge, I am having fun and that's what matters :joy:

Edit: had forgotten about the christmas with the kangaroos song :yum

Now that Coldplay are back, I've realized the huge emotional impact that they have on me. It's weird, but it so happens that during this hiatus, I had pretty much lost hope on many things. I had lost hope in the world and in humanity and it was all just fear. But now that they're back, I refuse to be hopeless, like, I genuinely see things under a different light, I definitely start feeling hopeful again.

I think part of it is that with them back, I have new dreams and projects to look forward to, whereas when they were on break, I had to be 100% focused on..well, real, barely starting adult life and let's face it it's hard at times and not so fun

Now if I could apply that hope and energy to my own personal and professionnal life that would be excellent! :joy:

Guy finally used his Instagram for something Coldplay-related, haha!

I enjoy his photography and car-related content, though, as well as that Synchro Sunday thing he did earlier in the year in which he'd pick an album from his record collection and invite followers to listen from start to finish at the same time.

that was me, I think :D

I thought it might have been you but I didn't want to give credit to the wrong person :D Coldplay should cover more Christmas songs

I never saw this until today... Brendon Urie singing Fix You:

I'm not the biggest fan of his newer Panic! At the Disco work, especially now that it's really just a solo project instead of a full band, but man oh man he is a talented singer. Now I kind of wish he'd collaborate with Coldplay.

Exactly, it tells us more about how good of an interviewee Chris is than why there won't be a tour. Typical tabloid misinformation from the BBC there.

Got four hours of sleep last night and when I first woke up and saw this post I thought for a second they changed their minds about doing a small tour rip

Oh my goodness same, I woke up, saw this, and immediately thought it was a tour announcement :joy:

Not to make a big deal of this but, is Chris alright? He hasn’t been anywhere near his usual bubbly self in any of the EL interviews thus far. Even in the Ghost Stories era he was more upbeat. His comments on Glastonbury got me especially concerned; refusing to play there again all because of something some idiot on Twitter said. That’s very unlike him.

You are right, Chris has changed a lot, no more joking, no more laughing and he seems so very thin-skinned, though he says he doesn't mind criticism. He was heavily criticised for his two appearances on the last Galstonbury Festival and it might be that his bandmates criticised him as well for doing so many small gigs during the last summer, and always on his own without the band. Maybe there are difficult things going on in his personal life, who knows. But his refusal to play Glastonbury may also result from the fact that they won't have enough songs which they could play. Hardly any song from the new album would be suitable for Glastonbury.

I do think it's weird that they've been talking about not caring about what people think of them anymore and then this one tweet kinda sets Chris off. Especially after the way Chris says he reacted to criticism of the band's Super Bowl performance. But it's understandable.

Chris has got fame, but he's also human just like the rest of us. People with fame may develop a thick skin in the public eye, but for all we know they could be struggling beneath the surface. To me Everyday Life and Ghost Stories both represent a lot of that angst and sadness underneath the surface of the band that just can't be expressed through the MX/AHFOD Coldplay persona of this band that plays larger-than-life shows with bright colors and songs about being happy. GS and EL are what happens when they shed that skin and allow themselves to be vulnerable.

As for Glastonbury... they just played Glasto 3 and a half years ago, and they've performed twice in the past 10 years. Add to that the fact that the Everyday Life era isn't really suited for big shows with big crowds, and I think it becomes clear that 2020 just isn't the right time. I don't think it's the right time for festivals in general, apart from that Global Citizen Festival appearance next September (assuming that isn't canceled).

I am a person who thinks I have it under control and don't care what people think, then something comes along that sets off my insecurities again. It is a cycle...some days I can handle it beautifully, some days I can't. I imagine person like Chris who seems to also have anxiety and insecurity goes through this too, even if he is famous.

Is it just me or does every single person that's too "cool" to like Coldplay without totally hating them have a soft spot for Shiver
