"Miracles" new original song by Coldplay for movie "Unbroken"

I think its well known I'm fiercely in favor of the band returning to their older sounds but all I will say is this song is breathtaking. From 1:20 to 1:45 is about the most beautiful music the band has created. The song is absolutely flawless and for me better than anything on GS, apart from Ghost Story (which is their best song since AROBTTH).

Coldplay are just masters of creating beautiful songs and once again I'm weak at the knees with Miracles.

Just like VLV, I don't WANT the band to sound like this but I'm happy if its the direction they're choosing.

I think you've found yourself in the wrong thread. This ain't called the "covers" thread, is it?

It's fine on this occasion, its pretty much the first cover, interesting to hear! May wanna start a thread too in the covers section :) I've added some text too, just to state its a cover as the Youtube title doesn't

Agree that Atlas isn't a cake walk musically. If Atlas is simple, what does that make Clocks, which is considered a Coldplay masterpiece? I think criticism of music and what makes it good or bad is silly. It really comes down to two things -- did you like the sound, and did you like the message? What does it matter if the chords aren't on the level of Chopin's most complex pieces, or that the lyrics aren't the most cunning a poet can write? Painstakingly analyzing music kills music completely. It's amazing how people take something so subjective and then try to apply objectivity to it. Let it go.

oh my god i love you! you have the same point of view that i have

Don't want to be too negative but what really puts me off is the "snapping" beat in the beginning. It reminds me more of a contemporary hip-hop track.

I just really don't like electronic beats. It's the same thing that bothered me with True Love. I don't know why they decided to use so much electronic percussion since MX.

Gladly the snapping stops during the song, which apart from that is quite good.

Can anyone hear Charlie Brown as the song fades out in the end?

[smoke is rising from the houses]

That's not Charlie Brown my friend, that's Prospekt's March. I was actually thinking the end of the song reminded me of the chorus of PM but much more up beat

oh heyyayy (potentially 3 syllables from how he extends hey)

I'm floating up above the world now (9 syllables)

Here I lie (3 syllables)

on my own in a seperate sky (9 syllables)

 strikingly odd similarity for the syllable times

not the beginning of PM imo but still we agree on the same song at least. :)

What I mean is:

As the song is actually fading out (aka the last couple of seconds where the volume is being turned down) there is only one sound left in the mix.

That sound sounds like the "baby voice" in Charlie Brown (which is actually Chris' voice sped up).

random person in the audience: "YELLOW!"

Chris: "yeah I could play Yellow..."

other random person: "a sky full of stars!!"

Chris: "I could play that yeah"

*thinks for 3 years*

"I'll play a song called Viva La Vida."

also, damn that man can play the piano holyshit. (already knew that obviously, Miracles just reminded me of it)

Yes I sometimes forget about that myself when I hear all these polished Coldplay songs recently where there is barely any piano left and then BAM a live performance like this comes out of the blue and there's this muscular piano god ghosting over the keys holy dAMN

*cough*

:|

I may have gotten a little carried away there lol :awesome:
