Agreed on both points. I listen to the instrumental sometimes when I'm running . . . just can't bring myself to listen to the album version.

I wouldn't have thought me as an Oldplayer would ever say that, but Fun is indeed an AHFOD track I could imagine somebody (or me, if I'm in the mood) crying to. So bitterweet and melancholic. It has hugely grown on me. Especially the beginning with the vocals and guitars is so sad (no pun intented).

Hm, interesting. I thought Army of One would be pretty well-liked by the forum but on the AHFOD ranking thread it doesn't seem to be a favourite. I guess that's because it doesn't really go anywhere, but I love the organ and even the weird voices on the track. And XMTS is growing on me. Imo it's better than the dull studio version of Up&Up.

Ok I'm little behind on listening to some of the new Coldplay tracks. Everglow kind of sounds like a combination of Moving to Mars and Atlas. Everglow: not their best song. But major props to Johnny! He literally carried that song. I wouldn't mind hearing it w/ him just playing the guitar!

I have to ask: does anyone love Prospekts March/Poppyfields and Help is Round the Corner as much as I do?

 

Prospekt's March may be (if this exists) their best song ever! The fact that this song is only known by a little number of people makes it even more precious for me. The song has a special place in my heart, together with only a handful of other songs.

 

I still can't get over how they have destroyed the potentially best song on LP7, Up&Up, by that awful production. :(

I don't mind Army of One, it's at least listenable. Unlike XMTS, HFTW and the absolutely horrible Amazing Day which almost makes me vomit it's so bad and cheesy, what was Chris thinking?!

On a positive note I don't hate Everglow as much now. In general though this album is just so forgettable and dull.

This album doesn't get any better with repeated listens does it? So bad.
