November 4, 20196 yr I wonder what old friends will sound like. it's the one song on new album nobody is talking about.
November 4, 20196 yr I wonder if Old Friends and When I Need a Friend are going to tie into one another.
November 4, 20196 yr -Cry Cry Cry is credited to Coldplay, Jacob Collier and two others: Bertrend Berns who was a songwriter from the 60's and produced Brown Eyed Girl for Van Morrison (you've probably heard it) and Jerry Ragovoy who wrote for The Rolling Stones, amongst others. Okay thanks to you (and whoever the blessed soul is who updated Wikipedia) I think I might've stumbled upon a discovery. So Bertrend Berns and Jerry Ragovoy actually wrote a song together titled 'Cry Baby' which was recorded by Garnett Mimms and the Enchanters in 1963, and just listen to that beginning:- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBVFcnbAz28 Sounds uncannily like the snippet of 'Cry Cry Cry' that was played at the start of the press conference (with an additional "Cry"). I'm fairly certain this track was sampled for the song. Janis Joplin also recorded a cover in 1970 so could be from that too, though I think the voice matches up more with the original. -Champion of the World is credited to Coldplay and a few others, notably Scott Hutchinson who founded indie band Frightened Rabbit and recently died at only 36. Also I'm absolutely pumped about Scott Hutchinson being featured here -- was turned onto FR through the Midnight Organ Fight tribute album that came out earlier this year and instantly fell in love with Scott's vocals/lyrics. I'd be really happy even if it was just him singing the entire song, even though it's Coldplay's. Couldn't ask for a more fitting conclusion than that.

Oh lmao just found out that this has already been discovered on the Cry Cry Cry thread, nvm.
November 4, 20196 yr I always check the Wikipedia page for Coldplay's new albums because somehow they end up with info I never find. And: -Sunrise is credited to Coldplay and Davide Rossi -Church is credited to Coldplay and Jacob Collier, who has been mentioned previously. Also...Stargate. Not thrilled to hear that! -Cry Cry Cry is credited to Coldplay, Jacob Collier and two others: Bertrend Berns who was a songwriter from the 60's and produced Brown Eyed Girl for Van Morrison (you've probably heard it) and Jerry Ragovoy who wrote for The Rolling Stones, amongst others. -The Arabic titled track is credited to Coldplay and Alice Coltrane who is a famous jazz musician -Champion of the World is credited to Coldplay and a few others, notably Scott Hutchinson who founded indie band Frightened Rabbit and recently died at only 36. Overall, I'm definitely getting good vibes from this. Let's just hope Stargate's influence here is minimal. Wow. Apart from the cursed S-word all the other influences/collabs sound intriguing ! I think this album is gonna be a good one.
November 4, 20196 yr I have no doubt now after seeing the credits, that the original "November 22, 1919" video on YouTube is the track 'Sunrise'. It'll be an instrumental album opener with Davide Rossi arranging the strings we heard from the video.
November 4, 20196 yr Stargate.... not thrilled to hear that. According to Tidal, Genius and Wikipedia, Max Martin co-wrote and produced Orphans...fingers crossed Stargate's involvement will be as minimal as Max Martin's appears to be.
November 4, 20196 yr Apparently Trouble in Town and Guns are the new singles Damn. Five songs till the official album release? They shouldn't 'leak' so much! lol
November 4, 20196 yr Maybe it'll sound like... Unfortunate hypothesis - Life is Beautiful may be dead, because the lyrics look like they may have been recycled into Arabesque: "There's a new song coming on the radio Frutas florecen en todo el mundo Let the flowers all blossom The hummingbirds hum We're all born equal under the same sun Someone could be you and you could be someone So do to each other as you would be done"
November 4, 20196 yr Maybe it'll sound like... Haha the similarity between both titles also crossed my mind. Church to feature Lauren on vocals then ?
November 4, 20196 yr Apparently Trouble in Town and Guns are the next singles Much as I love getting new music, I hope not. I want the album to listen to as a whole before we know each and every song individually.
November 4, 20196 yr Ok, so here’s a random theory I have been mulling over this weekend since hearing Everyday Life. Do you think the whole “Sunrise, Sunset” theme could be about the whole of one’s life, with the songs ranging from birth to childhood to all stages of life? If so, the last song would be sort of at peace with itself. What do you think??
November 4, 20196 yr Ok, so here’s a random theory I have been mulling over this weekend since hearing Everyday Life. Do you think the whole “Sunrise, Sunset” theme could be about the whole of one’s life, with the songs ranging from birth to childhood to all stages of life? If so, the last song would be sort of at peace with itself. What do you think?? Interesting that you say that cause I've heard this theory before, but for Viva. That Viva would represent all stages of life in order (LiT - birth, childhood, youth, love, adulthood, death). But I think it's quite a stretch and doesn't fit perfectly. About Everyday Life, I feel like it really is supposed to represent one day (an "everyday") from the start to its end and back to the start of the next day (The Album basically ends with "First light, throw my arms open wide").
November 4, 20196 yr I have to look at where the songs released so far are in the set list. By this theory: Sunrise Early songs are playful, joyful Early to middle are a bit more jolting, as reality hits in young adulthood Then songs show struggles and learning and yearning to go back to younger, more adventurous times (here’s where I hear Orphans coming in) Then more calm, steady, content themes as one becomes more comfortable with themselves in their forties Sunset Reflective songs open, as middle age sets in and we start looks no back Bursts of adventure and restlessness represent retirement in the middle, Maybe then more longing to go back, more adventures and struggles Late songs are calmer, but show struggles of losing control over one’s body and life Again, a peaceful close. Sorry if these stereotypes of life stages do not represent someone’s experiences. If not, please add to this concept from your perspective, if you don’t think it’s already off path.
November 4, 20196 yr Ok, I agree with you, @I ran away. I went back and listened to Everyday Life, and the line “got to keep dancing when the lights go out” is what got my theory started. That song is in the right place. Maybe this idea holds, with the rest of the songs not necessarily in order??
November 4, 20196 yr Interesting theories! Also is there some kind of unifying spoiler policy on discussion of EL the track? I am one of those people trying to not listen to it or know too much about it before the album comes out since it's the CLOSING track. Without having heard the title track, the album's name, theme, and sunrise/sunset motifs make me think a lot of the music video for Oasis's the Masterplan - I was reminded me of this with the comment about Everyday Life potentially representing just one day:
November 4, 20196 yr Also, before I forget, I want to confirm: The live concerts in Jordan, they'll be happening at 11 PM EST on 21 November and then 9 AM EST on 22 November I believe? That would make it 5 AM BST November 22 and 7 PM BST November 22. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong I just want to make sure I'm able to tune in at the right time haha
November 4, 20196 yr Why are most songs 4:26? This must be a software bug, considering the total length of the album.

November 4, 20196 yr This must be a software bug, considering the total length of the album. maybe one song Is that long like guns or trouble in town
