How much of Ghost Stories is about Gwyneth?

I remember a post (twitter from AlbumArtist) saying that this was not true. Post 214 in the thread about the separation.

It says: Album Artists @AlbumArtists
"The story that Chris Martin bought Mila Furstova's Dove as a gift has been made up by the media because Gwyneth posted the image on Goop.

Think about it this way: After more than a decade of albums and marriage, there hasn't been a deliberate Gwyneth love song. In a similar way, Ghost Stories won't contain any deliberate Gwyneth break up songs. But to quote Chris himself, "She's in there".

The sad thing is that, erroneously, all the media (including music reviews) will refer to this album as Chris singing about the break-up.

Therefore, for many it will not be much about the music but about the message behind the lyrics. I am doubtful that we will see a solid review of the album without taking this fact as background to the album.

It's quite obvious that is is a break-up album IMO, maybe it's not as obvious as Maroon 5's Songs About Jane was but come on, with those lyrics and those song titles how can Ghost Stories not be a break-up album? :(

I think even "Ink" has connection to their relationship. Well, "Ink" is a song about tattoo. Chris has "G" tattoo which is for Gwyneth.
I think Chris has had the 'G' inked over into a heart now.

I recall Chris saying some years ago that VLV was their Unforgettable Fire.
I feel like this is going to be their Achtung Baby.

I just posted this in the Another's Arms thread, but I want to share here as well:

Okay so I just re listened to Another's Arms after the news of Chris and Gwyneth's split and I really listened to the lyrics and what I got out of it was this:
When Chris says, "when the pages rip right through me" I think that's a good reference to the rumor in the magazine of Gwyneth cheating. Then when he says "when the world means nothing to me" I think he's referencing the fact that he is in one of the biggest bands in the world and has all these great fans, all this success and fame, but it doesn't mean anything to him without her. Its just something I really got to thinking about. I just wanted to share how I interpreted Another's Arms now.

Also from the iTunes concert wheres hes like "you guys are the best blah blah blah", and saying its been so long they have forgotten fans care or something. It really hasn't been long.

And MX was their Pop...

Now that I think of it, the 'plastic', unnatural feeling MX gave to me is explained. It looked more like self-persuasion of happiness than actual feeling. Perhaps, Chris is returning to being more honest with himself, though with much pain and difficulty.

If such interpretations are true I don't see how he will be able to carry out a proper tour for this album, singing these songs and thinking about their meaning every other night. Very sad.
On the other hand it might be an escape and/or a cathartic experience for him.

I also get the impression that while we are all finding out about this now- there's been some distance for him for a while. So he's further along in the grieving process- which you would have to be to launch an album and all that entails.

I think this album will be darker lyrically. My all time favorite album is about the breakup of a marriage, Achtung Baby. I have a feeling this Coldplay album will compete with Parachutes and AROBTTH for favorite Coldplay album.

I really believe that the three secret shows in LA that admitted only major Coldplay fans were to help Chris realize that he is loved and to help him get back to what he loved, music. Chris is certainly good at making shows intimate and it is heartbreaking that Gwyneth and he couldn't work things out, but they seem to be moving forward with their marriage in a loving, positive way. I think intimate shows will please the fans and the band after the bombastic production that was the MX tour.

This describes exactly the way I feel and I hadn't realised that until you pointed it out.

Yeah that is probably true. I still think it's quite admirable for someone who doesn't like to speak about their personal life to be able to perform songs that are specifically about that. Because this album might be Chris' most personal. He is making sacrifices for the sake of music... This better be a damn great album.

Can someone explain me how songs like Magic or Always in My Head are about breaking up?
I think the lines from Magic "and I just got broken/broken into two/still I call it magic/when i'm next to you" make that connection and are very direct.

My body moves/Goes where I will/But though I try my heart stays still/It never moves from Always in my Head. The title also stands out.

That aside, I wonder what Chris will do for any interviews/press for the album? I can imagine he will be asked all the time about the albums apparent connection to his divorce. That won't go over too well.. Hopefully they can respect his wishes and talk about the music and the few live shows.
