One of the best bands in the music history. My opinion, of course. They're one of my fave bands since years ago. I think their music is sweet, honest, elegant and close. It's a pity they split up a few years ago because they were talented. I'd love to see them live. But I had the good luck to be in a little private acoustic gig of Neil Finn, when he released his first solo album. I talked to him and explained him how much I loved the band and his music. He seemed very nice and grateful... :D So, anyone here like them? :smug:

Hey all, so I went to Lollapalooza last year to see Coldplay, and needless to say it was the best concert I've ever been to. I was like 5 rows back and they put on an amazing show that no other band I've ever seen could compete with. UNTIL a few weeks ago. My buddy took me to a concert by a local Columbus band (I go to OSU) called Twenty One Pilots. I had never heard of them, and thought it would be nothing more than seeing a mediocre band play for $5. I was blown away. I've been to many concerts, and Coldplay topped the list by a mile, but this local band is nipping at their heels. The show was literally amazing and their music was fantastic. Seeing as though I enj…

Adam Yauch, one-third of the pioneering hip-hop group the Beastie Boys, has died at the age of 47, Rolling Stone has learned. Yauch, also known as MCA, had been in treatment for cancer since 2009. The rapper was diagnosed in 2009 after discovering a tumor in his salivary gland. Yauch sat out the Beastie Boys' induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April, and his treatments delayed the release of the group's most recent album, Hot Sauce Committee, Pt. 2. The term predictability can never be tagged along side the name Diamond Rings. Diamond Rings is the solo project of Canadian indie rockers The D’Ubervilles’ John O’Regan. First of all their is his androgynous image, which is in full display in the video for the track “All Yr Songs”, a video that was controversially pulled down off of youtube by Song BMG. Known for glamourous costumes and live stages, it was a surprise to hear such a smooth baritone voice to go along with the electro-pop sounds. The vocals are a real drawing point on this album, ranging anywhere from a post-punk sound to a more modern Brandon Floweresque sound. This mix or past and present vocals keeps th…

I can't believe there isn't a thread on this pretty good band. So what do people think about Guillemots, they have a new single out tomorrow (made up love song #43), and IMO there album is one of the best of the year for just sounding different to everything else, every track is different to the last one. It's five o clock on a cold friday morning. I might do a mega post tomorrow in mulitmedia with all the ep's and singles they have released to date

Britpop band Pulp have reformed and confirmed details of two shows in 2011. The six original members, led by singer Jarvis Cocker, will headline London's Hyde Park on 3 July as part of the Wireless festival and will also top the bill at Spain's Primavera Sound event on 27 May. The gigs will be their first performances in 15 years having last been on stage together in August 1996. The band said they would "play songs from all periods of their career". They added: "Yes, that means they'll be playing your favourites." Having formed in the late 1970s, the peak of the group's commercial success came during the 90's with tracks like Common People, Disco 2000 and …

There isn't a proper thread (that I could find, anyway) about these guys so I thought I'd start one up. For those of you who don't know them, Friendly Fires are an English "dance-punk" band hailing from St Albans, and they're AWESOME. I have recently rekindled my love affair with Mogwai. Most loud guitar rock bores me to death these days, but Mogwai can rock me pretty hard. And their best stuff (in my opinion) is the more quiet, understated stuff from their last couple albums. They're one of the few bands around today that can do both brilliantly. :D

are any of you an active supporter of your local music scene? do you go to shows all the time? are there any bands from your town that you think should be huge? I can only think of me and briggins as far as I can tell, most cities have amazing underground music scenes. New Zealand's one is pretty small and easy to keep track of, cos we're a small/young country. But it must be amazing being from somewhere like New York and going to crazy small shows :bomb:

Candidate is a band from NYC, not to be confused with the UK act of the same name. The music draws inspiration heavily from the likes of The Stone Roses, Coldplay, The Cure, The Beatles, Krautrock, and Bowie. There's a new sexcellent free single out, 'April Again', that I'd like to share: http://candidate.bandcamp.com And if you've made it this far, to be honest: yes, I am in this band, and this is self-promotion :) Thoughts?

  23. The Beach House you’re about to meet isn’t the same you may remember from before. Lives have been shuffled, tangled and re-aligned. When Victoria Legrand and Alex Scally returned home to Baltimore last winter, they were worn thin from touring and travel. But deep inside them hot energies were incubating, ideas they had been whispering back and forth in the wake of their sophomore full-length, 2008’s Devotion. By the following spring they began handing themselves over completely to those impulses, holing themselves up and exchanging ideas in a new, secluded practice space for dangerously long periods of time. As the songs that would become Teen Dream began to live, brea…
