Has anyone ever heard of this band before? :wacky: They're from Yokohama, Japan and kicks ass. They did a theme song for Naruto and Bleach, if you're anime fan. They also have a new album coming out in September, called Landmark. :wacky: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCwtmCxJgik&feature=related]ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION - Solanin - YouTube[/ame]

Whether you've respected the HoF or not, it has been confirmed by Rolling Stone that you can now vote for the possible inductees for the 2013 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Yes, now you can vote! Some of the first time nominees includes Deep Purple, and rap groups N.W.A. and Public Enemy. Rush has been eligible for such since 1998, but this is their first time to be nominated ever. Donna Summer, who passed away earlier this year, also appears on the ballot for her fifth nomination. Heart also appears on their second nomination. The full list: Albert King Chic Deep Purple Donna Summer Heart Joan Jett & the Blackhearts Kraftwerk …

Ambient Music. I know some people have to be fans of it!?!?!? From Eno to Hopkins, this is the place to discuss it. I'm currently playing Insides and Opalescent on repeat, and one of the all time favourites is Eno's Apollo album. Come out from under the rocks...

I was discussing this with a friend over the weekend: Is Pop a genre or a quantitative quality? i.e. Radiohead might be "pop" because they are very popular, but they aren't what you'd think of when you say "pop." Like the new Coldplay album is more "poppy" than their older stuff, but they're just as popular as they used to be. And there are indie "power-pop" bands that sound "poppy" but no-one knows about them. Get what I'm saying? Discuss it. Now.

Ahh...Mr. Eno ~ I have been interested in Coldplay for some time (not enthralled like most of you, was really spellbound by Dave Matthews but he sucks as of well...BTCS) and since I saw that Brian Eno was producing the latest CP album I have been checking out some of Eno's previous music. I must say, that Eno is darn near well...brilliant in his own right. If you don't know his music check out the following tunes, you will be pleasently suprised: 1 - An Ascending (Ascent) One of the best productions I have ever heard in my life 2 - Deep Blue Day - Very spacey but relaxing and enjoyable 3 - Golden Hours - Just fantastic 4 - This - Extremely catchy, check it out! …

Okay, I can't find a thread for this band, so I'm starting one. Am I really the only fan? Basement Jaxx were formed in the mid-90s by Simon Ratcliffe and Felix Buxton, two producers and DJs from Brixton, London. The band were part of a wave of dance music in the late 90s, influenced by Chicago house, and they had early hits with Red Alert, Rendez Vu and Bingo Bango. 2001 and 2003 records Rooty and Kish Kash respectively were nominated for the Mercury prize, and the latter won a Grammy in 2004. In 2005, the duo headlined Glastonbury, and to date, they have worked with such recognized names as Yoko Ono, Dizzee Rascal, Lily Allen, Paloma Faith, Kelis, Sam Sparro, JC Chase…

Mylo Xyloto vs. Opening the OK Computer CD These are two very similar songs in that neither is really a song at all. The former is a pointless act of Eno instrumentals, while the latter is a pointless act of attempting to break the seal off the case, then getting pissed off because there's some sticky residue stuck to the case that you still can't wipe off with water and a towel. MX is the winner here, because you avoid the risk of water damage to your purchase. Hurts Like Heaven vs. Airbag Again, very similar songs, because HLH talks about heaven, while Thom Yorke repeats the words "I am born again" in Airbag, which is the key to heaven in many religions. I have to …

Supremacy vs MX/Hurts Like Heaven Coldplay hits the ground running with their fast paced smash Hurts Like Heaven that really sets the tone for the rest of the album. Madness vs Paradise Both songs are similar in style and this was a hard decision but Madness won out mainly for the last minute of the song. Panic Station vs Charlie Brown This was BY FAR one of my favorite Coldplay songs as soon as I heard it. Nothing againts PS but CB is a CLASSIC! Survival vs Us Against The World This one is fairly easy. Survival is one of the worst Muse songs ever. Follow Me vs MMIX/ETIAW This one is too hard to choose. I need to listen to Follow Me more and have always l…

Flesh and Bone vs MX/Hurts Like Heaven Both are unbelievable openers and too close to call Runaways vs Paradise The fight between first singles ends with Coldplay winning The Way It Was vs Charlie Brown The heavy crowd favorite Charlie Brown comes out on top here Here With Me vs Us Against The World Both slow songs here but in both formats (lyrics/music) Coldplay wins A Matter Of Time vs MMIX/ETIAW Hard to decide but in the end ETIAW never really won over the fans Deadlines and Commitments vs Major Minus The MM lyrics are incredible especially the references to Peter Pan Miss Atomic Bomb vs POC Nothing against Rihanna here but the heavy favorite 2…

Here is a topic that I thought might be interesting to get some other people's opinions on and it might even lead to some people being turned on to some new music which is always good... Who do you find to be "the best" at this thing we all love... music? Who is the best drummer in music today? best vocalist? best bass player? best guitarist? best lyricist? best songwriter? best producer? and anything else you might want to add. of course it is all opinion and the best to you could mean a lot of things... pure skill level, originality, technique, and so on... but I'd love to hear what people think.
