Young Guns released their second studio album today - it's called Bones and I'm already loving it. I just wondered if there's anyone else fond of them?

Anyone else listen to this artist? I've known about the song The Daydream for a while, but just recently an album was released... it's really great! Probably one of my favorites of the year. You can stream the album here: http://www.spin.com/articles/first-spin-hear-tychos-effervescent-dive-lp

Could be a new band nobody has heard of, or a classic you'd never got round to listening to and anything in between that just made you think "Wow, this is good" I am currently listening to: Le Loup - The Throne of the Third Nations Millennium General Assembly and it made me think that this thread should be created. Le Loup, on their Last.FM, are compared to Animal Collective, I personally don't agree with that comparison but I can see why they would think that, they have the whole Acoustic/Electronic crossover thing that I really love and first witnessed on Thom Yorke's solo album with a bit of Sufjan Stevens/Fleet Foxes thrown in. It's really worth checking o…

I'm not spamming, I'm just notifying all you peeps of a great band I saw last month. They blew me away and I've just found out their album comes out on Monday. Had not idea. But anyway, Exits by The Boxer Rebellion got a striking 7/10 in NME this week. I advise you to buy, this band were the first band to knock me off my feet for a long, long time. Was anyone else at any of the Jim Beam dates last month with The Raveonettes?

It's time for our annual albums of the year poll! To get us started, I'm pasting in last years version of the rules. Updates to follow. In the meantime, talk amongst yourselves and post lists-in-progress here. The idea: Make a ranked list of your 5 to 25 top original studio albums released this year. There will be a countdown of Coldplaying's favorite new albums after the deadline. The deadline: 9AM EST Monday January 2nd The rules: ~ Original studio albums only, please. No EPs, live albums, reissues, or compilation albums. Soundtracks must be primarily original material. For example the Scott Pilgrim vs. The World soundtrack was not eligible, but the …

What do you think about the "Dean of American Rock Critics"? I think he's a great critic and his capsule reviews are quite entertaining sometimes. :D He's eloquent and insightful and we have similar taste so I like finding out what he thinks about my favorite artists. Example

So I saw this topic on another forum. I didn't see one on here, and although I'm wary of starting a new thread, I'm curious about what Coldplayers think. I'll start. I really really don't like U2 (swear I'm not trying to troll here!). I find that a lot of their stuff is very bland for my taste, and their albums are all the same to me! I also really don't like Bono (his voice is too repetitive and he is a boring lyricist, in my opinion). They're just plain-Jane rock to me, and I don't see what the big deal is. However, I do respect them for paving the way for bands like Coldplay to take the main stage. I really think that they basically created the arena-rock niche …

I just listened to the new dubstep album by Korn called The Path of Totality and I have to say it's far superior to any of their previous material. What are your thoughts?

OK, this is not a thread about wanting to be cool. It is about looking at an artist or band, not disliking them, just not really getting them but at the same time realising that you like similar things and the artist in question has affected millions of people and has many fans. It could just be that you haven't heard the right song to get into them and you are approaching them from the wrong angle. A year ago, for example, I found Neil Young quite annoying. His voice was too high and the music did nothing for me. Then I hit the right track (can't even remember which one now) and all of a sudden I got it. That really helped me understand where he was coming from, and f…

This is something that I've been wanting to see be done for quite some time now...I just never had the guts to post a thread giving it a shot. Finally, I've decided to post my idea. :shy: I think that it would be SO cool to have a competition of sorts in which people cover their favourite songs. It doesn't always have to be CP songs. It can be anything you want. And you can be ANY age, from ANYWHERE, of course!!!! : ) You don't have to be superstar material. Just choose a favourite song and put all your heart and soul into it. There should be a deadline, and also some way in which people can vote on the covers. You could go all out and make a music video, or just record a…
