I'm writing a report on them and i need some insight from anyone who knows them well enough to make an informed opinion. I would go to my friends, but they don't know who they are. Few bands have made more of the past 12 months than Sydney quartet The Jezabels. Since releasing their second EP, She’s So Hard, in November 2009, the four-piece have toured the country supporting Tegan & Sara, Katie Noonan and Josh Pyke, and as headliners in their own right (selling out shows nationally in the process). They’ve watched Hurt Me, the lead single from She’s So Hard, receive heavy rotation on radio in Australia and abroad, a feat also achieved by its follow-up, Easy To Love. Fittingly, The Jezabels have seen their fanbase grow every step of the way – sometimes in the most unexpected places. “I think the biggest spin-out was when someone from Ge…

Hey All, Some of you may have read some of my Coldplay concert reviews on my website, the Original Prop Blog (which is really about film and television more than music)... well, this week I've launched a new website that is all about music - the Rock Subculture Journal. I've shifted my music-related articles from the other site over to it, so there is content to read already. One big focus will be concert reviews of a variety of bands, so if you have any interest, you are welcome to check it out. I'll be going to lots and lots of concerts throughout the year, so there will be many reviews. I'm also doing a little traveling to other cities (and hopefully c…

Guitar amplifier pioneer Jim Marshall dies aged 88 LONDON (Reuters) - Jim Marshall, dubbed the "Lord of Loud" for his pioneering work on guitar amplifiers used by some of the greatest names in rock music, has died aged 88. A spokeswoman for the company he founded said he passed away in Milton Keynes, southeast England, on Thursday morning. She could not confirm reports that he had been suffering from cancer and had a series of strokes. "It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved founder and leader for the past 50 years, Jim Marshall," said a statement on his company's website. "While mourning the Guv'nor though, we also salute a…

OK Go has become one of my favorites, after their first release. I haven't heard the B-Sides, yet, but I'm told they're good. This is one band I can honestly say doesn't care if they sound poppy (they do, in case you were wondering), they're just out to have fun. Their sound is incredibly fun and original nowadays. Download Hello My Treacherous Friends, Get Over It, and C-C-C-Cinnamon.

I was hoping people would be kind enough to post any bands or artist that I should get into that I may not of heard and I think Coldplay fans might have more diverse taste then most other fans, I guess. I'm not limited to anything except country music (seriously country music physically hurts me). If I were to have a top 5 right now it have to be: 1. Coldplay 2. Muse 3. Avenged Sevenfold 4. Mumford & Sons 5. Deadmau5/ Pink Floyd (Sry couldn't decide) Now I'm just ramblin' so if people would be nice enough just to post random songs or artist names it would help alot. Thank you for yo time.

Concert Preview: Jethro Tull goes orchestral Many musical artists wear creative diversity and mercurial imagination as badges of honor. Few deserve the distinction more than Jethro Tull. The English band, which came up in the late 1960s, melded more sounds, notably rock and folk, better than most of its peers and few since. The group's frontman and chief songwriter, Ian Anderson, became an icon through his versatile music and wildly eccentric performances where he introduced the flute to rock 'n' roll. Anderson is bringing the Tull catalog 8 p.m. Thursday to the Murat Theatre, 502 N. New Jersey St., Indianapolis, with an orchestra. He discussed this and many other …

Whitney Houston has passed away, her publicist has said. The AP reports that Kristen Foster has confirmed that the singer died on Saturday (February 11). No further details have been announced. The hugely successful recording artist had been expected to make an appearance at Clive Davis' pre-Grammy gala in Los Angeles tonight. A source close to Davis, who launched Houston's career at Arista Records, told The Hollywoo Reporter: "This is a sad day and it will be a sad Grammys weekend."
