September 26, 201510 yr [video=youtube;z4cLC_ItTms] A whole 1:20 seconds of the song + video ! :) It includes the intro as well... dunno if thats been posted before yet Yay more of the song! The guitar in this is really beautiful. What some are saying about this song potentially being written for GCF makes sense, although the fact that it is supposedly coinciding with a bunch of AHFoD-related stuff makes me a little skeptical that this is just a one-off song. Who knows though
September 26, 201510 yr Read about the new snippets only now an listened to them. My take on the song: From what I've heard I don't like it too much' date=' it goes into the much-dreaded bland direction. That's my personal opinion from hearing the snippets. Is it from AHFOD ? Perhaps not. Think about it, Global Citizen keeps going on about how this day will be great with many people united against poverty etc etc. What would fit more than a song specially written for this event that says "amazing day, amazing day..." ? If Coldplay have written songs specially for departing Radio DJs, the surely can write something for an anti-poverty festival that Chris is the 15 year curator of.[/quote'] hmm bland?? I don't think it's really "bland" but I guess it's your opinion. BTW we only heard 1:20 of it so let's not get too let-down too quickly now. I really like it myself, I don't think it's all that bland. BTW you might have something on writing a song specifically for the GC event. You could be correct they wrote it just for that, and with the lyrics Amazing Day you might be right. But I have a feeling it might still be a part of AHFOD. But who knows till it happens. If that is the case though then I honestly hope that they premiere two songs so we have at least one new one for AHFOD. All in all I can't wait till tomorrow - t-17 hours! :D I have A Head Full Of Dreams... and one of them is to go to a Coldplay Concert :laugh4:
September 26, 201510 yr I would have been surprised IF you came back after that jump LOL me too- but then again my desire to hear Coldplay's new stuff (and to be alive in general) might give me the strength to come back ;)
September 26, 201510 yr This is definitely not what they played in India. I still don't think they'll play a new song from A Head Full of Dreams at global citizen - either they won't play anything new at all or this is from Ghost Stories era
September 26, 201510 yr That ending though! [emoji7] here are most of the lyrics: "sat on a roof, there were stars, yeah, show me a place where I can be in your arms and I feel ? In your arms, drifting away, in your arms, I just want to sway, amazing day, amazing day, amazing day." [emoji111]️
September 26, 201510 yr I must be the only one on the forum who hasn't listened to the clips. Does anyone else like hearing the final studio version first instead of any live versions/samples?

September 26, 201510 yr Hmm, if these lyrics are correct, they suggest that my hunch about it being a GlobalCitizen-related song may be wrong after all. They are clearly about love... I still think it's a song from the GS era.
September 26, 201510 yr This is definitely not what they played in India. I still don't think they'll play a new song from A Head Full of Dreams at global citizen - either they won't play anything new at all or this is from Ghost Stories era The only explanation is that they originally were going to play new material at Iheart, but they ran out of time. This might be a suprise song like how midnight was released. Suprise "Amazing Day" then India video song later as the lead single.
September 26, 201510 yr Sorry to say this but it's really disappointing to see them just make a bad remake of AIMH. I really hope this is not an indicator for what awaits us on the rest of the album. The worst part for me is the electronic drumbeat. It's so cheesy it makes me cringe.

The worst part for me is the electronic drumbeat. It's so cheesy it makes me cringe. That is definitely not an electronic drumset. The full YouTube video is more-or-less "proof" of that.
September 26, 201510 yr Although the lyrics contains 'amazing day, amazing day' how does it confirm that thats the title?
September 26, 201510 yr this is probs their most U2-esque track yet. very reminiscent of "City of Blinding Lights" i just hope chris can walk the line between sappy and sweet successfully. AIMH and Magic were such sweet and lovely songs, but my god, i cannot sit through Ink or True Love anymore. but from what i can tell of this song so far, im pleased
September 26, 201510 yr I still think it's a song from the GS era. Could be, but it sounds more upbeat......then again, that could be why it was left off GS. Im still thinking it's a special song just for the event....
September 26, 201510 yr The only explanation is that they originally were going to play new material at Iheart, but they ran out of time. This might be a suprise song like how midnight was released. Suprise "Amazing Day" then India video song later as the lead single. I'm not sure why people are assuming this was ever supposed to be the first single. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love the song from what we've heard, but I'm sure they either sound checked as a surprise for the fans, or wanted to tease us with something, knowing others would record. As far as the iHeart thing, they definitely did not cancel it at the last second. Those shows are planned down to the minute and bands cannot make decisions like that without consulting someone well beforehand.
September 26, 201510 yr It sounds a bit bigger in sound than GS for me. Didn't Chris say that at some point during making the Ghost Stories, bigger sounding songs started to come out? One of them was A Sky Full of Stars. But it could be anything until we don't know what it really is. It could a song from new album, it could be a special song for event, it could be a song that we never will hear again... Now it's just an "unheard song". So let's wait for the next step. We will hopefully know more at the end of day. And this song did not have electronic drums. How could people miss the sound of cymbals. Even i heard it :D
September 26, 201510 yr Dammit. This is what happens on the one day that I'm too busy to check for anything new. :sad2: I better go listen to those snippets...
September 26, 201510 yr Okay, here's my reaction... I hear a lot of Always in My Head in this, there's the same basic rhythm. For that reason, the drumming is similar, except this time those are real drums!!! :D :will: In my opinion the song doesn't replicate anything from MX or GS except maybe AIMH. I'm ecstatic now, I can't wait one bit for the whole track even tho it's supposedly not the India song. Maybe that means we'll get two new songs rather than one...
September 26, 201510 yr I agree, it sounds a lot like Always In My Head:gs: A more happier version anyway, well by happier I mean Daytime. You know like GS was night and AHFOD will be day:sunny: I made a thread about exactly this! Glad I'm not the only one who sees this.
September 26, 201510 yr And this song did not have electronic drums. How could people miss the sound of cymbals. Even i heard it :D Me too! I mean give Will a break people XD

I still don't think they'll play a new song from A Head Full of Dreams at global citizen - either they won't play anything new at all or this is from Ghost Stories era Nah, don't think so. GS was about Gwen and Chris seperating. You can't shove a joyous love song into the GS recording like this. I'm 50% sure it's from AHFOD.
September 26, 201510 yr It could be from a number of things. But I'm thinking even upbeat albums have slower, more driving songs, just look at MX and it sounds more fleshed out/complex than the GS songs. I love how the lyrics' demeanor combine with the somewhat melancholy melody though- very Parachutes-esque. The song gets better the more we hear it (imo) :) Not sold on the hat though. Expecting him to RollBack Walmart prices with that smilie
