nathondetroit
Regarding the crappy piano sounds... I've noticed the pianos in general sound more lo-fi on this album. That's not a bad thing necessarily; Chris chose to tour with a keyboard sound from 1999 (kawaii mp9000) from 2002-2012 on his yamaha Gt20 controller. The real upright piano they use now doesn't sound better or worse... just different. I'd say it's an artistic choice on these recordings and it doesn't really bother me. getithom
I was super disappointed on my first listen. It's grown on me since, and I do have to say the thing I love most about it is the transition from Chris to Jonny's solo. It flows well and seems like DAAHF's cousin in that regard. I still prefer the live version, but things change. I remember hating the studio version of HLH back in the day and now it's all I can listen to! Written In Graffiti
Outstanding. Don't understand all the hate the mastering is getting on here. I really, really don't.
lefter
who sings 'believe in love', the last line of the song? Is it Annabelle Wallis? Interesting choice. Also, which of the solos in the song is Jonny's and which is Noel's?
sinnott87
who sings 'believe in love', the last line of the song? Is it Annabelle Wallis? Interesting choice. Also, which of the solos in the song is Jonny's and which is Noel's? At first I thought Noel was the first one, but the 2nd one sounds like classic Noel as he bends the notes. However Chris did say in an interview he wanted Jonny to do a solo like Noel and Noel to do one like Jonny...so I am not sure!
Durk
This track is outstanding. Everything I had read here led me to believe this was ruined and inferior to the live version. Not true. I thought the piano was all but gone. Again - so far from the truth.

Dagavi
This (along with Amazing Day) is one of my least favourites on the album.... but maybe I need to experience it live (just skimmed through the comments). The rest of the record is a stellar effort. Anyone else notice the "aah-aaah-aaaah"s also appear in the song 'Keep On Moving' by Five? Haha. appleguyjoe
I loved the liver version of the song. I thought to be a lock-in favorite on the album. Now, I'm not sure. It's a great piece but I thought the live version was better than the studio version.

Jedi Leo
I loved the liver version of the song. I thought to be a lock-in favorite on the album. Now, I'm not sure. It's a great piece but I thought the live version was better than the studio version. This is so true and in the beginning I was nearly upset! But now that I´ve listened to the album a few times one track after the other I can see how the production on Up&Up fits with the rest. If they had gone for the live version and crescendo exploding piano in the end, it would have been great but out of sync with the album as a whole imo. glangloi
I really appreciate how they made the 'Believe in love' line so subtle at the end of the song. Yes, if you hear the studio version before hearing the live version and know nothing about the end, you probably wouldn't even recognize it. But once you know it's there and can hear the words, it becomes really special. It's like you're waking up from a dream, and the final message is almost subliminal. One thing I love about Coldplay is that they can take a lovely ending like that and make you feel a whole different way about it live. And both versions can be great in their own ways.

Minarets
I would be shocked if Noels solos isn't the second one. It sounds like classic Oasis.
The Adversary
Really? I'm almost certain the first solo is Noel's! The second one to me sounds very like a Jonny solo.
Dagavi
OK, it's definitely growing on me. But probably due to the guitar solos... that's the best part of the track. Really looking forward to seeing/hearing it live. I can imagine the Manchester dates will be special, Noel will probably join!
Jedi Leo
I would be shocked if Noels solos isn't the second one. It sounds like classic Oasis. But Jonny played Noelesque and Noel play Jonnyesque , right? So we kinda have to switch them to find out who played what hehe

Stephie
Beautiful lyrics indeed! My uneducated guess would be that Noel's solo is the first one. Will they ever resolve this mystery?

Love the sunrise part as well. Not my favourite though. My favourites are all the analogies/metaphors in the verses.
