[spoiler=My thoughts]I was enjoying it up until the part where they start talking about the Viva la Vida album. Everything from there seemed very rushed, especially compared to everything before that. Mylo Xyloto hardly even got mentioned, which I was really gutted about.

[spoiler=The end of the bonus footage]I'm guessing right at the end when they're talking about a special edition or something they're talking about their NEXT ALBUM!

Can't wait to go later!

For those who have already seen it were they giving away posters at your cinema? I know for one off events like this in the past they have but not seen anything advertised to say so.

Not where I went. I'm in New Zealand.

Agree, though to be fair (and this is why I said earlier about focusing on unreleased footage) there was a mini documentary ages back on the Bakery along with other tidbits, it probably would have been rehashing most of what we already knew. Not that I know much of how much MX production/promo was ever released and probably why there was a bit more about Ghost Stories compared to those two

Just got to see the film! (Perks of living in Australia)

I don't want to give anything away but I did love it! It was so wonderful, I laughed, smiled and cried

And to anyone who is worried about the swearing, I took my mum too who loves Coldplay but really hates swearing and yes there were f bombs throughout and 2 c bombs but my mum was actually fine with it. Because it shows it was at their lowest points and much younger so it kinda fitted contextually.

I ain't been on here for years mainly because I didn't like there last album and the direction they are heading in, sort of gave up on them

But heard about this film talking about the early years and the new live album which I'm guessing will have mostly there new songs on there.

And a new album coming out which im hoping is a lot better.

Oh man, this breaks my heart. I was worried about not being able to attend but I suddenly don't care as much. I haven't been on this forum that long and even since joining I've been a sporadic member at best, but I've always seen you around whenever I come on. And you're ever-ready to extend a helping hand too! Fate really sucks for snatching this opportunity away from you. The Hardest Part invariably comes to mind when I'm in such predicaments as well. But don't let it break your heart, I'm sure good things are coming your way. My sincerest wishes for your hospital stay, I hope it isn't nearly as daunting as it seems. Take care!!! :)

And there you go saving the day again! Thank you so much, I'll keep my eyes peeled.

Hope you get better soon. I can imagine how crushed you are to miss it.

I already said something on Twitter but wanted to say something here as well. I am really sorry that you'll miss out on this but your health is way more important than anything. If I recall you won't be seeing it on Amazon Prime right? If so I have no problem gifting you a membership or giving you my account info so you will be able to watch as soon as you feel up to it. The DVD is only 3 weeks away, but if you wanted to watch it sooner I wouldn't mind helping out a fellow Coldplayer :)

I know it's the experience that you're bummed about missing, but there are positives to not seeing it in a theater. I know for myself and some others that when they showed Live 2012, the audio was really quiet. Also there were people talking throughout so that didn't help. It kind of ruined my first viewing of the film in a way and I am a bit worried about this one as well.

Anyway, I hope things go well for you tomorrow and try not to be too down. Let me know about the Prime thing if you are interested. I hope you feel better soon!

Sorry to hear about that I Ran Away. Hope you feel better soon.

@iranaway I'm wishing you all the best for a speedy recovery. You'll be there in spirit at every cinema and I'll send up a prayer for you.

I'm so sorry that happened and I hope you get better soon!

I'm so sorry to hear about this. I hope you'll get well soon!

Really sorry to hear about your illness, I hope you’ll get through this! It sounds like everything’s not lost (so to speak), you can still see the film whether through amazon and/or butterfly package.

As for me, I’m seeing AHFOD film tonight!!!!!!!! I don’t know how I’m gonna get through work today!

Already said on Twitter, but I really hope you get better as soon as possible! Your health is way more important than this, and like ColdplayKB said, the movie experience might not be as good as we're all thinking it would be. I hope that those extra minutes will make you a little less sad and i also hope that this fantastic community cheered you up. This is what I love in the Coldplay Fandom. It's like a big, worldwide family. We support each other and we are there in the bad and good moments. Get well soon!

Thank you so much for all your lovely messages. I had a difficult day, new in hospital and very distraught about missing the film event. I was upset and angry and cried a lot but now I've come to terms with it. I just watched the Mat Whitecross Q&A instead (thank you for uploading it on Youtube, @coldplaykb !) where a question of mine was picked. The interviewer's reaction to the username made me laugh :D

I wish all of you who have seen or are yet to the see the film today a wonderful experience !

@coldplaykb - turns out I do have internet in the hospital, so I might actually take you up on your kind offer of sharing a Prime account login ! This would be awesome !!

Pouring out my heart here. I'm so deeply sad and disappointed about missing out on this once-in-a-lifetime event and can't think about anything else. I very rarely go to the cinema, have perhaps been there five or six times in my entire life. Now along comes a film about the history of my favourite band - this was the ONE cinema film I knew I wanted to attend and was looking forward to ever since it was announced. And with the old unseen footage etc it was really something huge to look forward to, especially for an Oldplayer like me ! For around a month, in the bleakness of my life, this date of November 14 was something to hold on to.

But a few days ago I had to cancel my ticket. I'm quite ill and tomorrow of all days I'll be hospitalized, for what could be quite a long time. I'm so scared about everything and now this.

I'll be very honest, I'm really jealous of all you other Coldplayers who get to experience it :pensive: Everyone here and on social media is hyped about it and I read these things and I know I won't be there and "the hardest part was letting go, not taking part...was the hardest part".

Of course no one around me in my life understands what it meant to me, they think it's just a random cinema visit I had to cancel... :cold_sweat:

By the way, I asked Mat about the 10 mins extra footage for cinema because I was upset on missing out on that too. He said it might be streamed on Coldplay.com soon. That's at least something !

I am so sorry @I ran away . I feel so badly for you and hope that you are not in the hospital for too terribly long. Thinking of you!

I too won't be able to see it because the closest cinema to me that is showing the movie is over 2 hours away. Not possible for this mom of 3 on a school night, this particular week. We don't do amazon prime, either. I pre-ordered the Butterfly Package so I'll just try to stay away from any spoilers until I finally get to see it on Dec 8 (the day it's scheduled it arrive).

The silver lining of that is, we will have a new large-screen TV by then and I am hoping that the movie is the first thing I get to watch on it!

In the meantime, my Life in Technicolor book is supposedly out on the FedEx truck and about to be delivered :):):):):)

Anyhow, I really hope that you are okay and I am thinking of you.

What are your thoughts on it?

It was beautiful! Despite the many letdowns such as very low publicity in NZ, excessive offensive language and some of the film editing, I feel like this film has made me learn so much more about who coldplay really are and they will certainly give me a new perspective of their earlier albums and releases. It’s very inspiring, but also makes you appreciate how much hard work is involved in making a record. I can’t wait to see what they have in store next.

How about yourself @driftaguy ?

My thoughts on the film:

I enjoyed the film. I haven’t been listening a lot of Coldplay recently, but the film reminded me again of how much and why I love this band. I was pretty surprised to see how much there actually was old footage of them. It was great to get insight to their creative processes, backstage and touring life etc. I’ve never liked that Coldplay does not release ”making of” footage from the albums, but I’m happy the film had lots of it. I could watch that type of stuff for hours.

Sure, Mylo and Ghost Stories parts were rather short. I agree that around the time when they moved into Viva the film started to feel like rushed a bit, but it’s understandable that a film can’t last forever. Also, after having seen the movie I understand a little better why the band doesn’t seem to like X&Y as much. The fact that they included live footage of Politik and a little bit of studio O (Fly On) version as a background track for a while were pleasant surprises.

My thoughts:

Viva and MX parts were too short. For me these are two most interesting albums in terms of recording and hmm atmosphere, especially knowing that there was an acoustic album almost ready (piano version of "Charlie Brown" with accordeon was a surprise).

And for the first time ever we have heard:

"The Race"

My most prominent sensation after watching the movie:

NaxFTua.gif

I thought I have finally reached emotional detachment from this band

I WAS WRONG

WHAT DO I DO WITH THESE IRRATIONAL EMOTIONS CONCERNING 40 YEAR OLD DUDES

*screams into pillow*

So yeah, spoilers ahead n stuff:

Yeah well anyways, my highlights were Chris only dressed in a towel, the band taking a piss out of Phil in the studio, some random naked butt and the general insight of the early bands life. I mean, I already knew a crap load of stuff because I basically inhaled EVERYTHING in the past few years about Coldplay, but there still were some nice new footages and personal little films that made this film really nice and intimate :D

GOOD FILM WOULD WATCH AGAIN 10/10
