I know another place that did this, and I think its a good idea as well to turn off thread making and new members for a period too. You might want to think about how restricted and what time period, but helps to keep things tidy.

The site will most likely crash anyway lol, I will take all this into consideration. Thank you as always!

The other day I received a physical copy of the Japanese edition of Everyday Life. I was surprised to discover that it was different from the regular version, which I had purchased before, in another

  • I think most of people here need the original lyrics AND the Japanese translation of them which only come with physical versions.

*Don't tell Coldplay lol*

Arabesque is such an interesting track. I think it will get a lot of backlash but it shows they aren't afraid to experiment which is so admirable

Im hearing Orphans..... the percussion sounds remind me of some percurssions sounds used in Low :p

WILL SOMEONE PLEASE COMPARE THE SONGS TO PREVIOUS TRACKS OR ERAS.

(sorry, I just wanna know vaguely what to expect)

Orphans - maybe slightly Miracles, the original version?

And Arabesque doesn't sound like Coldplay lol, but it's good!!

Could not resist to listen to the leaks, sorry @Coldplay. I'll still buy the vinyl!

[spoiler=Reactions in spoiler]OH MY GOD Arabesque. I can also see the similarity with some of NGHFB's work in the beginning. Brass. That verse in French. Totally different from what they have done in the past. I may have been harsh with Coldplay recent work sometimes regarding their (imo) lack of inspiration, I can only be satisfied.

Orphans is quite short but catchy as hell. Even Chris' voice (which I was a bit tired of in the last era) does not bother me at all.

just realized those are probably their kids again on Orphans, dawwwww

Have you heard any of the new songs? :)

Couldnt resist those two flac files when i searched for them on reddit  :p

Are we getting 1 song or 2 today? Seeing people have heard a couple of songs already leaked so just clarifying...

Today we officially get "Arabesque" and "Orphans" for sure!!!

Got the files but on my phone where i can't easily share them. Just three hours, people!!!!

[spoiler=if you want to be spoiled....]

Orphans: A near perfect indie-pop single. Guy's bass is incredible, Jonny contributes nice guitar licks, the chorus vocals are back, production is RICH -- lots of fun details sprinkled through the mix (a flute?). Love lyrics too! My only criticism is that it feels like they didn't have a strong bridge to the chorus, so the song is shorter than it needs to be and the chorus comes on kind of awkwardly (like no drum fill or guitar to fill the space between the bride and chorus? And Jonny's guitar could be louder).

Arabesque: Wow this is truly new for Coldplay and quite incredible. Reminds me a bit of something that could have been on Arcade Fire's Reflektor. Incredible groove, tons of horns, saxophones, weird sax solo that isn't very good but has character, someone sings a verse in french? Jonny? What I love the most about this is how LITTLE Chris is in it.

Ok, holly balls - just had the pleasure of hearing 'Orphans' and 'Arabesque' :sun: :sun: :sun: :sun: :sun: :sun: :sun:

Without trying to spoil the fun for everyone, I genuinely haven't been this excited for a Coldplay album since Viva. They really have reinvented themselves. My sort of review of how the songs sound :

'Orphans' is definitely the more 'pop' of the two - reminds me of so many things, it has the funky bass of AOAL but is almost stadium rock sounding. Some fo it reminds me slightly of U2 with the chorus reminding me a bit of Foals. Coldplay have completely done it in their own way though - very catchy song, once of the best Coldplay songs I've heard in years actually.

'Arabesque' is definitely the 'experimental' track - clocking at about 5 and a half minutes, the only thing I can compare this to is 'Tusk' by Fleetwood Mac, has a bit of a re-accuring brass section then jazz trumpet in the middle of the track with a ball-sy ending that king of reminds me of DLIBYH (but Arabaesque' is a lot slower, more of a groove.

So excited for this era, a completely new sound for the band:cool::cool::cool::cool::cool:

hahaha that’s a saxophone (i believe tenor or alto) in the mid of the song. on the right track though!

Gonna need the french speakers to translate the french part when we get the Arabesque subforum/thread about lyrics.

Really think this album is going to be Coldplay's Magnum Opus :sun: :sun: :sun:

Ah my bad! Hahaha

Do we know if we will have tomorrow (or next week?) a single realease in cd or vinile?

Or is only a digital release?

Wow...just wow...

Agree with everyone about Orphans.

It’s a fantastic pop song. It’s like it’s from AHFOD but the production and mixing are actually good!

And Arabesque....just that last minute is incredible. The rest of the song is so so good. It’s such a different Coldplay but it’s really good change.

Can’t wait for everyone to hear it and can’t wait for the rest of the album!

WOW, that's all I'll say for now!

In terms of the Jo Whiley stuff, is there more than just that short statement she made and her list of favourite tracks? Or is that it? It's great and exciting but I thought someone said she spoke about it track by track
