April Fools!

We reported that Chris Martin had been admitted to University College Hospital after breaking his arm playing the popular game 'Guitar Hero'.

A black SUV approached the hospital at 5pm yesterday, driven by his wife Gwyneth Paltrow, a hooded Chris then jumped out and quickly entered A&E. According to a hospital source Chris was complaining of a sore wrist and was later Xrayed. The source says: "He was very pleasant and patient, he waited just like everyone else and was cracking jokes about being unable to play a plastic guitar."

The singer left the hospital later that evening, ignoring the well wishes of the photographers waiting for him. A rep for Mr Martin could not be contacted for comment.

Kanye West - Homecoming Feat. Chris Martin - Video (2008)

The video was released for Kanye's single Homecoming featuring Coldplay's Chris Martin. As Rant/Rave blog wrote, "Kanye. Chris Martin. In a black-and-white homage to Chicago. I have nothing else to say. Enjoy."

Meanwhile, Natasha Bedingfield, the British songtress was eying a collaboration with Chris Martin. The 26-year-old stopped by SoHo's Bar Martignetti to chat with OK! about her tunes, touring with Justin Timberlake and why she'd never be caught red-handed without knickers.

It was taking Prospekt an unusually long time to upload the tracklisting to Coldplay's new album "'Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends.' In light of this it had been decided that it can mean only one thing, Prospekt has got lost on the way to Coldplay.com.

Age Six Racer decided to give a helping hand to Coldplay.com to find out the tracklisting and tell the world of coldplay fans what said tracklisting was! As you can see, Prospekt is lost along the way, if you come across him, feel free to kick him on behalf of Coldplaying.com then continue on your mission to save the world!

Coldplay LP4: Official Tracklisiting Revealed By Prospekt

The official tracklisting to Coldplay's fourth album was officially announced. Interestingly, the album appeared to be called 'Viva La Vida'. Prospekt said:

Two interesting omissions - Chinese Sleep Chant and The Escapist.

Coldplay Indulges Experimentation On Fourth Album

Coldplay lets its creative flag fly on its fourth studio album, "Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends," due June 17 via Capitol, Billboard reported. Here's their article:

"We're still obsessed with making songs that can be sung to the rafters," frontman Chris Martin says. "We just wanted to present them differently."

To accomplish that goal, the group turned to co-producers Brian Eno and Markus Dravs, who adorn the material with grandiose embellishments the likes of which have never been heard before on a Coldplay album. "Viva La Vida" begins with a strident instrumental, "Life in Technicolor," built as much on an arpeggiated synth foundation as it is on an acoustic guitar melody. The same instrumental is tacked onto the final song, "Death and All His Friends," as a hidden track dubbed "The Escapist."

In between, the band frequently breaks from verse-chorus-verse constructions, particularly on "42," which is comprised of three distinct, seemingly unrelated sections. "Yes" shifts from a string- and tabla-driven rocker into a shoegazer-y breakdown, while a funky groove emerges from out of nowhere in the middle of "Death and All His Friends."

Elsewhere, Martin and the piano are at the forefront of the shimmering "Reign of Love," while "Cemeteries of London" conjures a foreboding vibe apropos of its title and "Lost!" swells with massive-sounding church organ strains. Drummer Will Champion credits Eno with upending Coldplay's usual working habits in the studio. "Brian has this amazing ability to demystify wonderful music and make it seem very achievable," he says. "We weren't afraid to try anything."

Coldplay recorded a number of other songs that did not wind up making the final track list, including "Postcards From Far Away," "Lukas," "Rainy Day," "The Goldrush" and "Now My Feet Won't Touch the Ground," but it's unknown if they will be released in some form down the road.

Coldplay Arrive In Sicily, Italy, To Film Video For First Single, 'Violet Hill'

Coldplay arrived in Sicily, Italy to shoot the video for the first single, Violet Hill, taken from Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends.

It was originally thought that only 'Prospekt' was present in Italy, but Italian media has confirmed that it was the whole band, ready to film a video for the first single of the fourth album. Confirmed today, the film set has been a very restricted area, and is located in Enna (the Italian city at the highest altitude), near Nicoletti lake. The source, an italian newspaper, Il Mattino, said that the single will be released in May and the tracklist will include the soundtrack, 'The Escapist'. The film 'The Escapist' is released around the same time as Coldplay's fourth album, in mid June.

According to the above news article, Coldplay were guests at Villa Angela in Taormina, residence of Jim Kerr, lead singer of Simple Minds. Coldplay returned to the region where they previously played to 2000 people in concert in Misterbianco, in the province of Catania. Chris Martin said of the journey, 'We would like to return to play in this wonderful theatre in the future.'

The article confirmed the first single as Violet Hill along with the hidden track The Escapist. Coldplay not only shot the video for their single (note that will be released in May) on the lake Nicoletti of Enna, but also appeared at Siracusa and Catania as well as the beautiful Taormina, for a photo shoot.

Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends: Exclusive Premiere In Barcelona?

According to Spanish Media (El Periódico de Catalunya), Coldplay chose Barcelona to premiere the world exclusive of their long awaited fourth album, Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends. The media outlet also claimed that Coldplay had filmed a videoclip in Santa Maria del Mar, Barcelona's cathedral.

Coldplay Arrive at Moses' Birthday Bash

Coldplay band members turned up for Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin's son Moses' belated birthday party.

They waited until Coldplay returned to the UK - where they were preparing to release new album 'Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends' - to give Moses his birthday presents. "His daddy is in London. So we're going to do presents when we can all be together," Gwyneth Paltrow said prior to the bash.

A Spell A Rebel Yell

It was announced that Coldplay would release 'A Spell A Rebel Yell' free with the NME. A free Coldplay 7-inch vinyl single would be given away with the issue of NME out on May 7. The vinyl would also include 'Violet Hill', a song that will appear on the forthcoming LP. Krissi Murison, deputy editor at the NME said Chris Martin contacted them direct. "He called up our editor one night from the studio, he said 'I have just written this song and it's the pefect song. NME readers are gonna love it, we have to get it out there.'"

New Coldplay Single Premiered On BBC Radio, 29th April

It was announced that Coldplay would premiere the first single from their fourth album, ‘Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends’, on Tuesday (29th April) on BBC Radios 1 and 6, which will then open the floodgates for thousands of other radio stations to be allowed to air the track. Here's how Coldplaying reported the track as it went live:

Coldplay's free download offering proved to be no shrinking violet when it went live on the band's Web site (April 29).

The site slowed to a halt soon after new song "Violet Hill" -- which has a harder, more experimental sound than previous Coldplay releases -- was made available just after midday U.K. time. After several attempts, downloaders managed to obtain a copy of the track, the first from the upcoming album "Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends." The Web site asks for the user's email and postcode details, after which an automatically-generated email is sent to the downloader's inbox.

Back at Coldplaying HQ, you'll be interested to know that although we managed (just) to remain online, we can exclusively reveal that this is what everyone did to the server:

'Violet Hill' was downloaded for free by over 600,000 people in the 24 hours since it was made available at 12.15pm on Tuesday (April 29). In the first 12 hours it was downloaded by 300,000. This figure doubled overnight as other countries logged on to Coldplay.com, the source of the free download. Meanwhile, Last.fm were keen to point out that the Coldplay figures are a record, exceeding even the most popular track from the Radiohead album that was streamed for free back in October. That notched up 22,000 listens in 12 hours.

You voted in your droves (quite literally) on what you thought of Coldplay's new single, Violet Hill:

The results of the poll alerted the British media, as you can see from the BBC website here.

Coldplay Announce Free Gigs

Coldplay announced that they would play two free shows to celebrate the release of their new album 'Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends'.

The band would play London's Brixton Academy on June 16, and New York's Madison Square Garden a week later (June 23). Barcelona was also on the agenda. Fans were advised to keep checking the band's official website and not to contact the venue box offices, as no tickets will be made available for sale.

Album cover revealed...

Meanwhile, the release of the record, the follow-up to 2005's 'X&Y', was been brought forward four days in the UK to bring it into line with global release dates. The release date was now June 12.

Not only that, Coldplay also unveiled the album artwork to ‘Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends.’

The band used a classic painting by French Romantic painter Eugène Delacroix from 1830 called ‘Liberty Leading The People’ (La Liberté guidant le people). It depicts the a woman personifying Liberty in the French Revolution leading the army in their march over dead bodies holding the French tricolour flag aloft. It’s currently on display in The Louvre in Paris. Coldplay weren’t the first band to use the image on an album cover. In 1999 Japanese rock outfit Dragon Ash parodied the cover on the sleeve to their album ‘Viva La Revolution.’

Coldplay Hire Ex-Bakery

Chris Martin reportedly revealed he hired a former bakery to become Coldplay's new headquarters. He hired the site in Primrose Hill, north west London, to deflect attention, the NME reports. Chris told the music weekly he chose the building because it was so unappealing. "I used to walk past it every day," he told the magazine. "For years I used to walk past it and think: 'What an ugly place'. Then, one day, a To Let sign appeared outside. I thought: 'Hmmm, that place is so ugly, I bet no one would bother us if we move in there'."

Guitarist Jonny Buckland added: "It's the first time we've had a proper band home since we were rehearsing in my student bedroom in 1999."

That was just the start... Coldplayers the world over turned into investigators... and found the premises!
