I'm liking this swish look they have going on in shirts and ties, with little waist jackets. Image for the future? or like Viva will have some correlation to the album?

It's something that has got me thinking recently. I was reading a BBC review on a-ha 25 - The Very Best Of and it stated that the album 'leads one to the unexpected conclusion that they were the Coldplay of their generation, accomplished at writing songs that carried an emotional depth capable of reaching out across arenas'. http://www.bbc.co.uk/music/reviews/qrd3 I certainly see the similarities. I would consider Coldplay a soft rock band/mature pop band and the best of their era. Likewise this can be said of a-ha. Now I know what you're going to say - Coldplay have tonnes of hits. a-ha have only Take On Me and The Sun Always Shines On TV (this being a particul…

I've been listening to many versions of Coldplay's song, and yet again, I find myself in awe of how beautiful it is, both lyrically and musically. "You're the target that I'm aiming at, and I'm nothing on my own." Those lyrics are so incredibly powerful to me. Many will disagree and many will persecute, but I am 100% certain this song is towards God. I notice a lot of hate towards this song. Why?

It will be just like the other game, but strictly about Coldplay. :D The question can be anything related to Coldplay as well as the members! I will start it off easy! What was the first EP ever released by Coldplay?

Obviously I'm not actually suggesting that it'll be called Prospekt's March II, but do you think we'll get another sort of thing, i.e. a bunch of leftover songs from the LP5 sessions that they release? I, for one, hope that they do. I think they have enough songs that it shouldn't be too much trouble to do so.

http://www.gigwise.com/news/59730/Coldplay-Glastonbury-Invite-Like-Touching-Robert-Pattinson-Balls Coldplay have compared being asked to play Glastonbury to Twilight actor Robert Pattinson inviting you to touch his balls. The band, who last topped the bill at the festival in 2005, are one of a number of acts rumoured to be headlining the event in Somerset next June. But in an interview with Q magazine, singer Chris Martin played down the reports and said it “depends if we get asked”. He added: “That’s like getting asked to dance by Robert Pattinson if you’re a young girl. Imagine if Robert Pattinson called and asked, 'Do you want to touch my balls?'.” Meanwh…

Does anyone remember the article that said Coldplay was recording in zero gravity, with a vintage tape recorder, to find the "perfect drum sound?" What song did they use that recording on, if any? Was it the Goldrush?

SATURDAY: Everyone, just want to apologize for being negative with everything. I was disappointed to not do the Q&A but what I did get to be apart of was a once in a lifetime opportunity. I had been having a couple of bad months and I think I sort of put a lot of expectation into the night. It wasn't necessarily what I'd hoped for, but in the circumstances I chose not to look at the countless positives. I really do apologize for that. It was different than what I'd expected, but if I'd known going in I'd still have wanted to do it all the same. I feel quite bad if this has gotten back to the band. They let 100 of their fans be apart of a video. How many bands would do…

I'm just listening to them on shuffle at the moment in iTunes, and the acoustic version of 'Lovers in Japan' came on and it got me to wondering about that rarity where a raw and stripped down version of a song is better than the album version, another one that instantly springs to mind is the 'Swallowed in the Sea' acoustic version, which blows my mind everytime I listen to it! what are your favourites?

Title by Hilary (VivaNewYork) :nice: Looks like Gwyneth Paltrow might be coming to a decision soon about her marriage to rocker Chris Martin. Despite reports of Chris being spotted kissing other women, the two have yet to call it quits but many speculate their marriage is strained. And one supporter of Gwyneth leaving his ass is none other than Madonna. According to reports, Madge believes with the right guidance, Paltrow can have “the perfect divorce, with no squabbling and sharing the children equally.” A source adds, “Whenever Gwyneth complains about problems with Chris, Madonna’s solution is she should leave him….Madonna has never liked Chris because he…

Anyone find themselves coming out of a Coldplay hibernation? Last year and a half or so they kind of went missing on my Ipod play count but are slowly creeping back in (bar the song Viva La Vida of course). I think I'm consciously preparing myself for the release of LP5, ready to compare and contrast! Oh and I would expect an announcement on Coldplay at Glastonbury, along with U2, sometime after Christmas.

You can find a place that no one knows Where money talks, and streets are gold Someone stands in every door And if they speak, they break the law (Who was that mouth?) (Who was that mouth?) Ask a question - blank faces Read the news and turn the pages Watch them play a different game And no one knows your name The words of PSB may be apt for the evening. So what do they have in store for us? Coldplay karoke - Chris draws names from a hat to sing with them on stage? Coldplaying Oscars - for the wittiest, longest, most read posts etc? The band shows us Guy's photos from his competition

Probably there are other threads like this one but I'm too lazy to search. It's almost time to start to get a massive amount of news about LP5 and the excitement is already growing. But I was thinking about VLV and how my opinion of that album has changed. I absolutely loved it when it was released and probably that was influenced by all the crazyness and fangirlism in the air. I still like most of the viva songs and I think that as a whole it works well but it could be way better. I haven't listened that album in months and when I do I skip yes, violet hill, etc. [insert "oh I miss the old coldplay" kind of comments here :P] What do you think now? has your opin…

I've heard VLV so many times I've lost count. I have personal reasons too why it means a lot to me, but the thing I've noticed is that rather like a well written joke or sitcom, you never tire of listening to it (I'm thinking Fawlty Towers here!) and each time you hear it it sounds like the first time you have done so. If ever there was a showcase for Chris Martin's writing or Brian Eno's producing talent - here it is. VLV was awesome when I first heard it and it remains so today. I've never tired of hearing it once. It sounds just as fresh as it did back in 2008 to me, and I'm still finding little nuances to the song in the way it was produced. I regarded it as wor…

Did anyone else here see the Brian Eno documentary last weekend on BBC4? It was a bit disappointing that for the Coldplay section they didn't elaborate on what Eno had actually done (I guess so he remains enigmatic) to tweak it. The Coldplay section was just covered by showing the VLV video in full, which although nice to see was a let down in the context of the docu as there was little else.
