Is there a thread for this genre? Anyway, I'm interested in listening to music of this genre. So far, I've only known Damon Albarn's Mali Music of this genre, but I have not listened to it. Any recommendations?

Anyone ever heard of Ray LaMontagne I have his cd that a friend recommended. He's really good and has great lyrics. I would recommend the song "shelter" or "hannah". I'll post them on rapdshare tomorrow.

Anyone heard of them? I saw them live on Jools Holland last week, and really liked their sound. So I picked up the album today and it's pretty good. It's just so different, and Matisyahu himself pretty much breaks all stereotypes...a real breath of fresh air. I highly recommend downloading the songs 'Youth' or 'King Without A Crown' if you want a listen. http://www.matismusic.com/

I've only downloaded their 2nd album from a couple years ago, cuz it's the most recent, but I'll probably get their first as well pretty soon.

A search reveals no existing thread for Dan Bejar's Canadian band, Destroyer (though if I'm just being stupid, please merge). So why not show them some love? Bejar has a lot of side projects and contributions, but Destroyer is his baby. They recently released "Kaputt", an album which has been met with rave reception, and honestly the first album of theirs I've listened to in full. Really good stuff. Their albums are in english and currently are touring US and Australia. Myspace WikiPage i know they have more fans here. check their myspace or lastfm page for concerts. Currently they are our most international band i would say. I hope they won't take some wrong step as others have done.
