Hey Everyone, I front and write songs in my band, we're called Herculean, we're currently gigging around Scotland and hope next year to get more gigs around U.K. I thought I'd write a Christmas song this year, I heard that they're the hardest to pull off, but I think mines has gone alright. I'd really appreciate it if people checked it out, it's called 'The Night Before Christmas' :) www . myspace . com /stuartmcinnes

here is a site i discovered a few weeks back. im not entirely sure how well known it is amongst music lovers here but a great music mag i read often said they only discovered it last week, so i dont think it's that well known. anyways it's pretty much your regular sessions website, so the band go to their studios and record a few of their songs and are then uploaded and available for free. but there is a slight catch. the bands MUST use daytrotter's instruments not their own which at times makes the performances very very unique and interesting. here is a sample of the stuff u can find on there Foals - http://www.daytrotter.com/dt/foals-concert/20031396-3737560…

Sellouts? For those who don't know. Matt Cardle, the winner of this years X Factor has released Biffy Clyro's track 'Many Of Horror' with the name of 'When We Collide'...many people are angered at the name change, the fact that Biffy Clyro seem to be sellouts to the machine that is the X Factor, etc. What is your take? Personally, I love the track (Biffy Clyro are on of my favourite bands) and whether you like the X Factor or not, you have to admit that Matt Cardle is a brilliant singer and I think his cover is not bad, well not as bad as people are making it out to be...

in the past : now : is one of my favorite singers , but her is not commercial as many thanks . his music an inspiration in my life and my childhood. and I remember it was the first singer on vinyl that I listened I was wondering if the fans here for this Great Lady ? she recorded a new album so difficult and sad to hear. but great

  7. I was wondering. Because people in this World Of Music thread have an appreciation for good music and know the difference between a brilliant song and a shit one. I'd like to know what people think of Coldplay's "Christmas Lights" from a non-fangirl point of view (why it's posted HERE). Because I know the poll set up in the other section will of course reflect a completely biased result. My opinion: It's poor. The band has come so far, this seems like lazy songwriting and arrangement for a band that has made the quality of AROBTTH. I hope it's not the direction they take for LP5 because I know they can do better. I think this is just a discard that EMI requested fo…

in my excitement over seeing U2 live for the first time i started wonder if modern rock music had a big four (like many professions and sporting leagues do) who would be in it. this is what i came up with The Beatles - highest selling band of all time Rolling Stones - "biggest" band in the world for over 40 years Led Zeppelin - the four most talented musician to ever be in the same band U2 - stadium trotting for over 25yrs and showing no signs of slowing down what does everyone else think? pink floyd? queen? ac/dc? bruce?

Anger at Prince free CD giveaway Anger at Prince free CD giveaway The music industry has reacted angrily at a decision to give away the new album by US musician Prince with a tabloid newspaper. Planet Earth will be given free with a future edition of the Mail on Sunday. The 10-track CD from Prince - whose hits include Purple Rain, Sign O' The Times and Cream - is not due to be released until 24 July. Paul Quirk, co-chairman of the Entertainment Retailers Association, said the decision "beggars belief". "The Artist formerly known as Prince should know that with behaviour like this he will soon be the Artist Formerly Available in Record Stores," said Mr Qui…

From Spies: Here's a little tidbit that we received; according to Katie M., Guy Berryman's cousin, Grant Tyrie, plays bass in a new Scottish band called "Little Buddha," and they were playing at the Archway Tavern in London on Wednesday, March 3rd (yeah, this was a little late, sorry!), but they will be returning to London next month to the Borderline on April 10th. Grant himself replied to this message, you can hear their music and read all about them on their website: http://www.littlebuddha.net By the way, Grant is the tall one wearing the Buddha shirt and combat trousers :)

Does your family have a similar taste in music, or do you all listen to completely different music? I was just thinking about what my family members listen to and how different our tastes in music are, and I'm curious to know what it's like for everyone else. I have three brothers. The oldest one mostly listens to rap and kind of screamo-ish rock music. I don't know what bands he likes, but whatever he listens to, I really can't stand it. My second youngest brother listens to bands like Nirvana, Metallica, Muse, Pearl Jam, etc. My youngest brother doesn't listen to any music, I don't think. :P My dad likes bluegrass and Pink Floyd, and I don't know what my mom …

So every year the radio over plays the same old Christmas songs until you're ready to shove a fruitcake through someone's head just for humming one. But for some reason, those very same songs become awesome as soon as your favorite band plays them. So tell me, what are your favorite Christmas songs either covered by or written by your favorite bands? Mine have to be the newly released Christmas Lights by Coldplay, and every Christmas song The Killers have ever made. DISCUSS!
