What album disappointed you this year? What didn't live up to expectations? Mine has definitely got be 'Surfing The Void' by Klaxons, after waiting ages for a follow up to their fantastic debut, 'Surfing The Void' was very mediocre bar a couple of exceptions.

Okay then, here's a thread for people to find new music that they would like based on the kind of music they already listen to (yes, I'm aware of last.fm, but a personal response from another music fan would be a lot better). Basically you give the person above you a list of artists they would like (try to go for lesser known ones), according to a list they provide of what they listen to already. You then put down the kind of artists you listen to, and the next person will make some suggestions. And so on. When listing who you already listen to, try to be as extensive as possible, so that the next person has a clear idea of what you like and they won't put down music that…

Third Man Records/Warner Bros. Records is excited to release The Greenhornes' first full length LP of new material since 2002's 'Dual Mono.' This new album may be their strongest collection of songs yet. It's diverse yet very concise, from the dark pop of lead single 'Saying Goodbye,' to the bubble glam of 'Song 13,' to 'Cave Drawings' moody psych; it's an eclectic and mature work and very much The Greenhornes own. i've spent much of my christmas day watching episodes of Seinfeld and i saw that episode about Festivus, which is a way of celebrating the holidays without the usual gift giving and family commitments that come with it. Part of the celebration includes the "Airing of Grievances" where you tell everyone things and people who have disappointed you that year. i thought we could celebrate the day (which is typically december 23) world of music style by listing the bands/artists who have let you down this year. now i hate to create any negativity around here but i thought this would be interesting. maybe their new album wasnt as good as you expected or you saw them live a…

Make a list of some songs that you listen to when you're in the mood for depressing / dark / sad songs that will draw an emotion out of you like you want to be sick, or something was taken from you. I hope that makes sense... e.g. Every time I hear "Gone" by M83... I think of the hardest times in my current relationship, always when I thought she was going to leave... The title is where I make the assumption, but the sound itself plays on me. There's one point in the song when it sounds like a scream is being drawn from someone. Slowly it rises in amplitude and resonance. At the climax, this sound, a scream overpowers all the others. I hear myself scr…

Okay, so I know there's already an Owl City thread that we've discussed it in, but it's like one of my very very favourites of his projects and I wanted to make it a thread. :wacky: I could go my whole life listening to just Port Blue. And if you like this, there are some other projects you'll probably like. Like I also suggest Windsor Airlift. *posts song from signature because people might wonder what my signature is* [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTjQOngnIYM]YouTube - Windsor Airlift - A Wolf Am I, A Wolf On Mischief Bent[/ame] So here a few songs I guess. Okay, so I realize this is a Coldplay thread not in the Coldplay section....BUT. The World of Music seems to be filled with quite a few folks who don't visit the Coldplay section, at least not daily like this section of the forum. I'm interested to know if people in this section are bigger fans of Parachutes or A Rush of Blood To The Head. I think those two albums brought quite a few posters to this forum. Which album do you like better and why?

Anyonebody else think that John Butler's music is just the most amazing thing you've ever heard? lol Oh my God, I just bought the "Live at St. Gallen" 3-CD set. It is like the best album ever!!! well probably not quite, but close. John Butler is very, very talented. Haha, I'm trying to resist saying something corny like "it's like the guitar is an extension of his fingers", but he just plays with so much emotion,it is great. So what do you peeps think?

I probably should have got into these in the Summer as they seem like a good sunshine weather band, but yeah, I've been listening to these guys for a month and I really like them so figured I would bring them to peoples attention. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glQ5gM2DgtU&feature=related]YouTube - Real Estate - Younger Than Yesterday[/ame] [ame] [/ame] Those two are from their EP. Still haven't been able to get hold of their album (which does not contain these tracks), but I'm excited to do so.

hello thread reader. DON'T LEAVE! Glass Vaults are a band from Wellington, New Zealand. They are pretty much the best new band of 2010. Last weekend they played at a cool little festival (which I also played at). It was pouring down with rain, it was freezing, it was midnightish and they played this song Don't Be Shy. It was one of the most amazing moments of my life! That sounds really stupid but it was. Luckily, someone filmed it! (I was right next to the guy who did. omg front row!!!!) [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDsDXgGbyuM]YouTube - Glass Vaults @ Around the Wireless, Dec 10[/ame] PLEASE WATCH. The audio isn't amazing but the song is FUCKING I…

Hey everyone, I was wondering if you could give me some feedback on this album my friend and I just finished under the name "Vermilion Club". Not sure if it will be up everyone's alley, but check it out and see. The album is streaming up at bandcamp and you can also download it for any price (with no minimum, meaning you can get it for free as well). Thanks! vermilionclub.bandcamp.com - Dylan Campbell

Their debut album is one of my favourite "summer" albums, just happy indie rock. They have a new song anyway: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=T0HVFCJA Maybe you should check out some of their old stuff too though: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LaKF9FjoOB8]YouTube - Good Shoes - Never Meant To Hurt You[/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sOluYR1bqBo]YouTube - GOOD SHOES /// 'photos on my wall' High Quality[/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LoU6xszikNQ]YouTube - Good Shoes -Morden[/ame] and if anyone wants their first album, which I would suggest, I will happily upload

Just wanted to recommend one of my favorite albums - Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell. Honestly, I'd recommend any Social D album. They are both catchy and raw, which is a rare combination indeed. They are a blend of Johnny Cash Country, Punk, Rockabilly, and a touch of alternative. I love them.

Don Van Vliet — the iconic experimental musician known as Captain Beefheart — died today due to complications from multiple sclerosis at a hospital in Northern California, according to reports. He was 69. From 1967 through the early '80s, Van Vliet released some of the most challenging rock albums ever, which showed off his quirky knack for free-form experimental rhythms, avant-garde melodies, and his gruff, smoky howl. He released music that would challenge fans' assumptions and expectations about rock 'n' roll. "People like music to be in tune because they've heard it in tune all the time," Van Vliet said in 1978. "I really tried to break that down." Vliet's caree…
