Not sure if there's a thread, but I figured it'd be a cool thread to make to see what songs people have really been into and perhaps it might get other people into songs. Here are some songs I've been into: [ame= ] [/ame] [ame= ] [/ame] [ame= ] [/ame] [ame= ] [/ame] [ame= ] [/ame] [ame= ] [/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G82q8Yds0hA]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G82q8Yds0hA[/ame]

There has almost certainly been a thread like this before. I may have even made it haha. I'm talking bands or artists who have released a consistent decent volume of work, or who have defined a generation with seminal albums or have been pioneers and have been at the forefront of a shift in mainstream or alternative mainstream musical genres. You know, people who will really be remembered and rediscovered by future generations. When I was younger I found it impossible to think we'd have people like Bowie or the Beatles or anybody who released so many albums (since I was into a lot of indie stuff at an earlier stuff and their shelf lives tend to be quite short) or ev…

I've heard his name crop up a bit but he doesn't have a thread. Anyone heard this guy's new self-titled album? Or his three Pitchfork-acclaimed eps from last year? Very good electronic music if you ask me.

Lovely little band formed by Simon Tong (The Verve, Blur etc) Erland Cooper (Erland and the Carnival) and Hannah Peel. Released a brilliant album called Orkney: Symphony of the Magnetic North last year a concept album all about the Orkney Isles off the north of Scotland. The album is set to be re released on June 24th alongside a film project entitled 'Hunting for Remoteness'. Just heard this. A couple of my friends enjoyed a gig of hers (and her bands) last night so I figured I'd give her a listen. I like it. Some very good bits in there. Kind of between CocoRosie and Scout Niblett with a bit more of an ethereal nature. Heavy in places too. Some songs just really nail it. Is vinyl really the best way to listen to music, sound-wise or does it make no difference? Not a factual poll, just what do people prefer? Do people genuinely buy records to listen to on vinyl because it's better quality? Do people just not care either way?

Brit's, Grammy's, Mercury's, NME's, MOBO's, Ivor Novello's? Which would you least want to win? You can specify individual categories too. And you can debate the meaningless/meaningfulness of awards, too.

Spotify will launch in the US by the autumn, according to reports. Newswire Bloomberg claims the music-streaming service is gearing up for a third-quarter launch in the States. “We’re buying server space in random parts of the States and there are licensing discussions too," Spotify’s senior vice president Paul Brown said in an interview with Bloomberg. “But they are going fine because we’re in a long-term partnership with the labels and publishers.” Spotify is also in discussions to release its mobile software on Blackberry and Palm smartphones, Brown said. The service is already on Android, Symbian and the iPhone. Indeed, the iPhone app has just been updated w…

I've been talking quite a lot about this band recently in other threads here. Thir debut album is more dub and 2-step oriented while its follow-up has a "psychedelic ambient" sound. UK: Emeli Sandé makes Official Chart history Emeli Sande now holds the new record for the most consecutive weeks in the UK's Official Albums Chart Top 10 of any debut album. 'Our Version Of Events' was released in February 2012 and went on to become the biggest selling album that year. It hasn't dropped out of the Top 10 since its release and has been in the UK's Official Albums Chart for 63 weeks. The 26 year old singer has overtaken British music icons The Beatles who previously held the record for almost 50 years with 'Please Please Me'. Their debut album spent 62 weeks inside the Top 10 between its release in 1963 and 1964. 'Our Version Of Events' has sold …
