Hey folks! Despite lurking on this account, I think I've been here since about 2010. Absolutely love Coldplay and can't wait for the new documentary! :heart_eyes: Thought I'd come out of lurking to share a song me and some friends wrote that might help fill the gap between albums. It was one of the first songs we wrote, around the time we were listening to a lot of Viva la Vida back in music school (despite scowls from fellow music school students :confused:). I don't really understand how solo artists work and this has been bothering me for a while now xD To clarify, I'm talking about artists who claim to write their own songs, not ones who sing someone else's music. Off the top of my head, someone like Ed Sheeran or Taylor Swift, I'm pretty sure they play one or two instruments at the most. So they write the lyrics and the melody. But what about the other instruments in a song? You can't really write a drum section if you don't play drums or a guitar riff if you don't play guitar, can you? So someone else writes it then. But then how are they different from someone like Chris? Doesn't he do the same thing? And I don't me…

I fancied having a discussion about the music that inspires Coldplay B-sides. In a totally self-interested way, I want to find more music that sounds like Sleeping Sun. Because i cannot place the inspiration for that song. For me, it makes me think of a bunch of antelopes running through the Australian plains??? But are there other bands that sound like this? Hey guys, i assume coldplaers like U2 and Keane too so i have got a questio, in the song Cnat stop now by keane the piano sounds exactly like the piano/synthetizer melody form U2's Unforgetable fire chorus. Since i can´t find anything about this cans you tell me if keane borrow u2's melody like coldplay borrowed kraftwerk's, or if it was just inspired. Btw did you enjoy Liam gallagher's album?
