A Head Full Of Dreams (Title track)

Featured Replies

Do you know how many times I have listened to Clocks ? But only four weeks ago did I begin consciously noticing the Clocks pad that floats in the background of the song. No kidding ! And only two months ago did I notice the looping underlying melody of Only Superstition that is very subtle and which you may not notice if you focus on the vocals.

It took me an embarrassingly long time to hear Guy's bassline on Clocks, and it's arguably the second most important element of that song

Really? I play piano and whenever I play clocks most of the left hand is the baseline instead of chords.

I've always been confused - Is his bassline the one that mimics the "home, home, where I wanted to go" melody throughout the song, (in the chorus at least)?

Yeah

Ah, that would make it easier then. All of my musical experience comes from the clarinet and all the various saxophones :P

Oooo interesting :)

Okay can someone please explain to me why everybody bashes Coldplay production what the hell does it even mean I'm so confused. Like I don't think songs are good because the layers are well arranged, I like songs because I like the melodies and music!!

The melodies are great, but I can look back and see how production kinda screwed up a song. Chris's voice on HLH. Love listening to the live version, but I get bothered by the studio versions vocals on the verses. AND PARADISE! Love the live version, I had a problem with the studio version having the strings be most of the sound. Why not combine that with Chris on piano and Johnny on guitar when the song first starts?

Only heard the live version so far and I truly hope it is not that messed up on the record. Many compare it to U2 but to me this is the most Coldplay song so far frok this album. And the only one I fully like so far :( including Up&Up...

This is a STUNNING record. Their best opener since Politik in my opinion and i'm not ashamed to say it !

Can't wait to hear this song as the opener in a concert. It is going to be M A S S I V E ! ! !

Easily one of the best songs on AHFOD

it'a little messed up

i mean....everything's good, but Johnny's guitar is pretty much "buried", especially on the last 'a head full, a head full of dreams' before the bridge.

on the live version is very prominent and it goes so well with Chris' voice

I thought the same thing. They should've allowed that guitar to sorta...overtake the music.

Ok, just finished listening to the track. The live version vocals are WAAYY better than the studio. Was Chris sick or something when they recorded?

Is that partially due to the natural atmosphere of Jazz&Blues tradition of Kansas City?

I think that for most of the album actually. I am very disappointed with Chris' vocals on this album.

I like this song, but the beginning of the song is a rollercoaster for me. It starts beautiful, then it gets like "meh, what is this?" for 10 seconds and when this is over, the song remains at a decent level.

This song seems like U2 feat. Cut Copy

Easily one of the best songs on AHFOD

So far, but that's coldplay, you never now what would grow in a month or after live gig. I digged Paradise only after live in Paris.

I think it's a vocal effect on some parts, it reminded me a little of the backing vocals in Hurts Like Heaven

I think it starts amazing I already can imagine the music video. The wooah's are okay.

U2 influences on this one. I really like the song! A mix of X&Y and MX's vibes
