so the ARFM-16.mp3 is in german language and this is what he says in it:

"But what i don't understand is that Stephenson called it "The Rocket". Yes i know this was one of the first steam engines... oh yeah, but why the roocket. I mean, have there been rockets in 1829? Yes maybe.. wait I'll google it (keyboard typing sounds). Give me a second. ah ok I've found an article here. Yes, I'm reading it right now. It say's, the rocket could be for the drive. They had fireworks in china in the 10th century and guns that look like rockets in the 14th century. yes, but here it say's, that Stephensons named it after a british military gun from 1804. They have been super fast and covered long distances. So it's a bit like a train. Apparently in York, yes in England. I would really like to see it"

This definitely is a big hint to something, but i'm not sure we'll understand until all is revealed :laugh3: there are just so many possibilities

What if this is a new story within the same universe?

Highly doubt that it would be either a direct continuation of MX story or universe. Coldplay don't do the same thing twice. If they following directly and officially on Mylo, there would be very telling signs on the website (like the graffiti or direct references to songs). That's not really the case here, except for maybe 1 symbol and a vibe that indeed is a bit reminiscent of MX and its comics.

It's very possible though that LP9 includes bits and songs that were originally made and scrapped during/after MX, but in a different form and different titles that originally planned, probably. That's their usual MO.

It's a new story I think that has its background from Viva/Mylo, like most of the things they recorded afterwards. I think the theory about these stories might be that there is a song title in each of them. Or at least a reference to something (like Rabbit Hole). Neon Moon, Higher Power now surely on the album. But all of this feels like a great concept album.

yup, they're definitely prepping their spotify for the album. I spotted a Twitter user a few days ago saying that they also stopped highlighting their singles playlist on their front page - something's definitely coming up really soon.

Is that Swedish? Can you translate what it says about Holst?

It’s not Swedish. It’s detuned English. Other things mentioned include Hammersmith Socialist Choir. Sounds like someone reading from Holsts biography from Here

Oh and Gustav Holst created Whitsun music festival. Whitsun, the Christian celebration takes place this year on 23rd May right by the Glastonbury performance for Coldplay.

The Planets by Holst is well worth a listen to on YouTube. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s sampled on the Coldplay album as has been used/sampled in film/music for years

I would not be surprised if Brian Eno was involved in the making of this album. From the alienradio.fm promotion it sounds like a strange strange concept thing but then again we were told, there will only be surprises from now on. I cannot wait for how it will sound!!! What a time to be a Coldplay fan again.❤️

Ah thanks! Detuned English, wow. I didn't realize it but i will try listening again.

And yeah I know The Planets very well, one of my all-time favourite orchestral suites (especially love Jupiter, Venus and Saturn)!

Fun fact, I always thought the guitar/piano melody of the live version of Animals (starting at 0:42 here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASXvUpNcl-w) sounds like a melody in Saturn (starting at 7:07 here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MO5sB56rfzA

A billboard during a football game in a big stadium in Chile...now they're just showing off :laugh3: if you ever wonder what they did with their half a billion $ from the AHFOD tour....they're putting it all on this pre launch campaign apparently ?

I’m from Chile and I’m watching the match! The alienradio graphics have appeared several times now.
This is the most important match of the year here, so there are millions watching the tv right now. Great campaign ?

What is it with everybody commenting "really? This is disappointing coming from Coldplay.

Hate to burst your bubble but there are no aliens in outer space, no aliens in any universe.

The Earth is special and unique, whether you believe it or not. Yeah, our Earth, we got the good stuff right when it all started and..."

Just bots? Or have i missed something?

Some random person on twitter seriously posted that, and so now it's being copied as a meme (because let's face it that's hilarious :laugh3: )

My long post before new music drops. TLDR: I'm super excited and optimistc that this is going to be the perfect Coldplay era for me, but ya never know. For those of you new to the speculation train -- you may not like the new music, but that's okay! We're gonna get what we're gonna get and we should try to be open to whatever happens.

Spoiler

Disclaimer, this is just my opinion as a fan of 15+ years. Viva & MX Era's were undoubtedly Coldplay's most creative, diverse, and fun eras. They worked with the most interesting producers and Chris was in top songwriting form, and the demos from Viva like Bucket for a Crown, The Man Who Swears, Fall of Man, Bloodless Revolution sounded (for my taste) like some of the coolest songs he ever wrote and i've been praying ever since they get some sort of release one day.

I also love the band's fascination with space and how much of an opportunity that opens up to bring in electronic, synth and big guitar sounds. Some of the band's most compelling musical moments come from "spacey" songs like the guitar solos in Atlas, AICAIY, Moving to Mars and the absolutely massive symphonic sounds on ALIENS and Twisted Logic and the sparse atmosphere of songs like Midnight, Trouble in Town or the Mylo Interlude tracks. Everyday LIfe brought us the sounds we may have expected from the Wedding Album, plus Arabesque, arguably a top 5 all time Coldplay song. So I do wonder if MOTS/Alien Radio are going to deliver more amazing ideas from past eras that I've been dying to hear. Big guitars, soaring strings, bombastic synthesizers. It's the kind of music to rock a stadium and imo that's Coldplay at it's very best. EL delivered those quiet, intimate moments from Oldplay, now I want the bigger moments of Oldplay.

Of course, I have to remain cautious because ever since Viva, I think the band has delivered slightly more mixed bags. They may give us a blistering rock song like Major Minus or a lovely soft sleeper like Always in My Head, but they also have collaborated with fratboy villians (Chainsmokers) and wrote some songs that feel less essential to their overall catalogue for most fans (Anothers Arms, Fun, UFO, Kaleidiscope, Cry Cry Cry). The singles have remained steadily solid, but AOAL and HFTW are easily bottom-tier Coldplay. So this new project might be teasing us a weird, wonky, rock space opera. But it could also easily be a mishmash of global pop sounds with cheesy choruses. As someone who's been let down before, I'll say this: You're going to like some songs, you're going to dislike some songs. Over time, that opinon may change. It's really easy to get hype and believe this new album is gonna be a 10/10 rock opera or a perfect sequel to MX. In reality, it will most likely be a mix of sounds and new stuff you aren't expecting! Just be ready to enjoy what you get and keep an open mind! I take comfort that even if I don't love some the songs I listed above, others do! That's the beauty of it.
