So after my thread on X&Y (which you can read here! http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?t=75719&page=5 ) I thought it'd be good to create a thread on their debut album! An album which many of you favourite and believe is their best even. I think otherwise though. Don't get me wrong. Parachutes is a stunning and incredibly mature album for a debut album by such a young band at the time. Without doubt the most mature I have listened to and easily one of the best debut albums of all time. I find a majestic simplistic beauty in so many of the songs from Parachutes. Don't Panic, Trouble and Spies are three of the best written songs Coldplay have written …

  6. Pop, Rock and R&B artiste, Jon Germain has confirmed to Hitz Entertainment News that Coldplay's Chris Martin has contacted him several times indicating his profound love for his Quiver song. He said Chris texted him several times about a week ago expressing his love for the song, saying he could not stop listening to it. "He did. It went on and on. It’s like a whole text message about two pages full. He went on and on about the Quiver song and how he likes the song and all that, how he loves it and he can’t stop listening to it. Jon Germain recalled Chris Martin singing 'What ever it takes, What ever it takes,' lines from In My Head, but Germain said it was clea…

X&Y is an album that polarises musical opinion. I often hear people claiming it to be Coldplay's best album and others proclaiming it to be their worst and a Be Here Now moment for the band. I was curious because certain critics here in the UK call it their poorest effort and have often cited it alongside Oasis's 3rd album which is harsh because despite it appearing to be overproduced and too eager to be too big at times, X&Y contains some of Chris Martin's finest melodies. If I'm being honest it probably is Coldplay's best album melodically and I don't feel the album is let down by the anthemic guitar, reverb drumming or in particularly the bass. Where it is …

  8. Brian Eno has been interviewed by Exclaim.ca in time for next month's magazine, and he talks about working in the studio with Coldplay on the recent LP5 sessions, and what he sees going on. Below are the Coldplay excerpts that are relevant... Brian Eno really needs no introduction. Arguably one of the most influential figures in modern music, Eno is still blazing new trails 40 years into his illustrious career. He has no interest in discussing Roxy Music, David Bowie, U2 or his own past. And rightfully so, given that the last several years have been among the most productive: he's revitalized the songwriting and recording techniques of Coldplay... You really are coa…

I hope there is an actual full length ballad on the new album.I know during the viva sessions they said they wanted to throw away all their old tricks.Did that mean not writing ballads? Viva is very upbeat i think. There is Reign Of Love and part of Death and All His Fiends and even a part of 42. But they kind of broke those songs into sections. I love their ballads!!I would even be happy with just one!!haha. But I guess there is only so much you can do with a ballad creative wise??Who knows,I just hope there is at least one full length ballad on the album!!

  12. With a new album on the way and the Viva era now a thing of the past i can't help but feel that Famous Old Painters may just end up being the great lost Coldplay song. There is no way to know just how good this track is but Phil Harvey himself stated that there was a version recorded and mixed that he thought was very well done. It is true that the time for this song might be past but I know there are many others like me that would love to hear it. So here is my proposal. What if we got as many people as possible to send a paintbrush to "the beehive" with a note attached that reads, "Please release Famous Old Painters... Thank You- The Fans" Since the song has been fin…

Hey all, I was wondering whether we could all post lines from Coldplay songs, that you think is a really good line/lyric/quote. For instance, for a starter: "Everything I know is wrong, everything I do just comes undone".

I have to make a powerpoint about myself and family. My idea was to give every dia a title of a song like the one with my sister and brother giving the title 'Brothers and Sisters'. So yeah I want some nice idea's and titles. It doesn't have to be all Coldplay titles but that would be cool. :) Thankies

Guy will try to Fix You up with success ... The Pierces and their new mentor Guy Berryman ALABAMA sisters THE PIERCES have branded COLDPLAY star GUY BERRYMAN "Jesus" for resurrecting their music career. The girls - CATHERINE and ALLISON - had decided to call it a day after a frustrating nine-year slog that spawned three albums, beginning with their eponymously-titled 2000 debut. But the Parable of the Good Samaritan took a modern twist a mere 24 hours later when their pal Guy called offering to produce their next record, prompting the siblings to reunite. The siblings joined Guy and their bandmates for a stellar Biz Session, performing two original track…

  22. The producer behind Mumford & Sons hit album, who is currently working on Coldplay's next release, has landed an early Brit Award. Marcus Dravs - who also shaped Arcade Fire album The Suburbs - was named producer of the year ahead of next week's Brit ceremony. He was presented with his prize by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin at an event in London's Cafe De Paris. Dravs was nominated for his role on the Mercury-nominated Mumford album Sigh No More, as well as his work with Canadian act Arcade Fire. Unlike most of the other winners, the best producer prize is announced ahead of the Brits, which take place at the O2 Arena on Tuesday. <!-- ARTICLE INLINE…

  23. I'd like to see them do a punk/hard rock song. Y'know with loud guitars and some screaming (but not metal). It's not their style, but I'd like to see them try it, and maybe put it on an EP. They should also do a fun song that people like to sing along too, like yellow submarine. Which is more realistic than doing punk. What would you like to see them do?

This really is an amazing time to be a Coldplay fan and for those of us who have a true love for this band I can't say enough just how lucky we are to be living through it. I have been a member of this board since 2003 and have gone through the pre album board hype three times now. Every little bit of news makes the anticipation even greater and I love every minute of it. I love heading on to this site every day knowing that with every visit there is a chance I will see new song titles, magazine track descriptions, a tracklist, a release date, cover artwork... we are all right in the middle of it now. This is a feeling that future Coldplay fans (our kids, grandkids...)…
