Okay so I know theres already been many threads about this but here we go… So I started listening to Coldplay prior to the release of AROBTTH. I had just got into rock music so I didn’t have any high expectation or intelligible understanding of what good music is, but I was instantly blown away. I don’t believe theres a comprehensive logic behind why people fall in love with certain music after the first listen but I guess it was their sheer brilliance. I think we all know AROBTTH and Parachutes were by far their better albums, opinions divided on which one is the best. Okay so, I think I have a pretty good love story in which Coldplay had a part... One day when I was 17 and in my high school, I was sitting in a classroom with my friends during lunch, and a big guy comes in with one of my friends, but I've never met him before. Ok so Coldplay have new instruments, new guitars, piano, etc, all of which have loads of writing on them. The words are in all probability lyrics of songs on LP5. Watching the Rock Am Ring gig, i picked out some of the inscriptions on on of Chris's many guitars, among other other obvious inscriptions such as "MX" and One eye on the road..." Never have I been so frustrated with a website. The amount of comments/threads etc I've read in the past day about how much they hate coldplay for making ETIAW and how dissapointed they are and so on and so forth has really made me quite annoyed with most people on this website. If you don't like the song, great! No need to go bashing Coldplay about it! I guess my idea for this thread comes from the fact there are quite a few people who don't seem to like the new single. Even if you don't like the new single or the other new songs, will you still try to see them live? Example, with U2, although No Line on the Horizon isn't a favourite of mine, I will end up seeing 3 shows from them supporting that album. While I wasn't a big fan of Viva, I travelled halfway across the continent to see them play in Dallas. If/when they do their next big world tour I will probably try to see them even if I don't care for the new songs (although I have no concrete opinion on them yet). How about you? Why is everyone hating on Coldplay's new songs so much? If you don't like it, keep it to yourself, don't go around making threads to just bash the new songs or style of the era. Coldplay are taking a new direction, I like it because they really branched off and dared to try something new; they are being creative. Wow, such a long time since I was active on this forum, but since Coldplay started posting all the video teasers for the song I just couldn't help myself. I find it fascinating that people have such various opinions about this song. I too was one of those people who believed that LP5 would turn out as a mainly acoustic album, following in trail of Spanish Rain, Death will never conquer etc. However, this didn't surprise me at all.
