Coldplay team up with Oxfam to raise land grab awareness Band will create new video for 'In My Place' using fan footage Coldplay and Oxfam have teamed up to make a new crowd-sourced video for an acoustic version of their track 'In My Place' that will be part of a campaign to combat land grabs. Land grabbing is the practice of banks, individuals or governments buying huge plots of land in poor countries for profit, which is damaging to those who live there, who can end up without a home or livelihood. The video seeks to highlight this issue by showing the sense of being out of place. Fans have been asked to submit video or photo footage by March 20 for the chance…

Top Five Artists You Need to Stop Hating (written by Corey Deiterman) "1. Coldplay Confession time: I actually love Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends, which was a damn good pop album no matter how you slice it. Brian Eno's lush production didn't hurt matters any either. Frankly, hating on Coldplay is just as played out as hating on any other band on this list, except it's even worse because they've done nothing so egregious as the others here. Why do people hate Coldplay then? Some of it seems to be their preachy attitude. Admittedly, they wear their causes on their sleeves, and it can get almost as grating as listening to Bono or George Clooney. But th…

Asked if Dizzee Rascal and the Coldplay feature on the fo…

Coldplay: 'We've got a name for our next album' Coldplay have hinted that they already have a name for their next album. The band, who this week release their new tour DVD/album Live 2012, teased their plans for the follow-up to fifth record Mylo Xyloto on Australian radio today (November 20). Speaking about the difficulty of pronouncing Mylo Xyloto, Chris Martin told 2DayFM: "The next one we're releasing is much easier to pronounce." When asked the next album's title, the frontman replied: "I can't tell you that!" before turning to guitarist Jonny Buckland and saying: "Can I give a hint?" Buckland shook his head and replied: "No." Martin also explained…

Adele, Coldplay, The Beatles are best selling artists in Amazon UK’s history The best selling artist in Amazon UK’s 15-year history has been revealed to be Adele. With all formats taken into account, Adele has proved to be the most popular in the online retailer’s history, with Coldplay and The Beatles in second and third place respectively. Adele also figures high up on the best selling mp3s list, but is beaten to first place by Rage Against The Machine‘s ‘Killing In The Name‘ – the subject of a campaign which handed the track the UK’s Christmas Number One in 2009, ahead of that year’s X Factor winner Joe McElderry. “Adele’s achievement in securing both the b…

...to the point that the recorded version sounds almost incongruous or just inferior? Its a difficult question to phrase in a way. And I kind of feel that this is a bit of a loaded question as a band that is as good as Coldplay is live will always be able to inject a certain passion and energy through the crowd that, ipso facto, isn't there with studio recordings. I'll shoot first: Paradise (the transition from the piano to the guitar and other electrical accompaniments live physically makes the hairs on my arms stand); Hurts Like Heaven (studio version sounds too electronicy for my liking, like something from the 80s).

Sorry I had no idea which board to put this in, so I'll leave it here. Anyway, so I was searching Youtube for Coldplay stuff and I came across this really weird contest show. I think you have to pretend to be an artist and imitate them to win the show. haha It's really weird when you watch closely and they are not even playing the instruments, and with no offence to the guy - It's pretty awful singing. Here's a link to him singing Paradise. There is also a whole host of songs they do. Enjoy ahaha.

Hi fellow Coldplay fans! I just listened to The Scientist for the first time in a long time and a thought hit me. I remember a few years ago, I had a track downloaded on my old computer. It was The Scientist by Coldplay but it was not the original. It was the song but with commentary. Chris Martin explaining the working progress behind the song. I remember him saying something like this: "When you're married and in public, I said to myself: I'm never gonna sing anything personal again. Everything's gonna be about science, and about... you know, art, history and things alike." Its frustrating but I can't seem to find this track anywhere on the internet. So if you know…

What influences has Coldplay had on you? Their style?Their direction in music?Their beliefs?Ive seen some people paint their guitars like the boys have. What do you do that they do.If it had not been for Coldplay what do you think you wouldnt be doing. An example of me is their style.I love the way they dress. They are very casual.During X&Y Chris was wearing a lot of those black jackets. So i went out and got a couple that looked similar.I also bought the same Adidas he was wearing at the time. And I have to say that I dont think I would have bought the shoes and jacket if it wasnt for Coldplay haha.I also bought a Make Trade Fair tee shirt. So I was wondering if any …

07. Prospekt's March EP (2008) Composed of material remaining from the Viva La Vida sessions, the Prospekt's March EP is an odd bunch of songs. Despite Martin's claims that any of these tracks could've made the already diverse album, everything here definitely feels like leftovers, or at least tangents. The first issue here would be that, despite it being pushed as an eight-track expansion of Viva La Vida five months after the fact, Prospekt's March is a bit thin on new material. Three of the songs here had appeared already in slightly different forms on Viva La Vida. The alterations in the "Lovers In Japan (Osaka Sun Mix)" are pretty negligible, while "Lost+" is "…

I'm not the biggest fan of musicals, but I was inspired by an Oracle question posted today: "Oracle, what do you think would be the opening song of a hypothetical musical that consisted of only Coldplay music? What song do you think would close the show?" What songs do you think would fit in a Coldplay musical? What would the setting/storyline be? I think Politik should open, the setting would be Viva-like, and Up With The Birds or Amsterdam should close.

Found a hilarious article: Coldplay fan Robert Kiunisala, 34, stripped during Brisbane concert and bit security guard BRISBANE'S biggest Coldplay fan has relayed to a court how he was overcome by a "primal urge" during the UK supergroup's recent concert that drove him to strip off and bite a security guard so hard he drew blood. Robert John Kiunisala, 34, pleaded guilty in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday to obstructing police, being a public nuisance, failing to leave a licensed premises, obstructing a licensee and assault occasioning bodily harm as a result of a bizarre series of events that took place at Suncorp Stadium on November 21. I live in New York, and Chris Martin has a house about an hour and a half away from where I live. Last week, I had a Coldplay-themed Sweet 16, and I wanted Coldplay to know about it. So, I wrote a letter explaining how much I loved Coldplay and I even stapled an invitation to the party to it... They have like an intercom thing and my dad pushed it and some guy named Toby was like "Hello?" And my dad was like "Is this Chris?" And the guy was like "No it's Toby" and then my dad was like "Is Chris there?" so Toby was like "I don't think so, but I'll check" so we were waiting and the gates to his house opened and I started freaking out and these two guys came RUNNING out a…
