  1. At this point in time, Coldplay were an cult band. Living off the mild success of their debut studio album, 2000's Parachutes, they gained alot of attention as being the next big rock act. As the media shone the spotlight on major releases such as U2's All That You Can't Leave Behind, Radiohead's Amnesiac, and Muse's legendary Origin of Symmetry, Coldplay didn't seem like a big contender in the game of thrones, but then again they weren't really aiming for that to begin with. The band's hopes relied on them recording their second studio album for Parlophone, and they did so in a relatively quiet fashion, setting a release date for the follow-up to the acoustically centere…

  2. UPDATE: Hey Coldplaying! Chapter 3 at last :) ------------------------ Hi guys! Its been a long time since an update from me on this Medley project. As you might remember, this is a project I've started in order to help me get more practice at arranging, composing, performing and mixing and, as this is a prototype to an official version, I've been looking for feedback to make changes. Well, I got a tremendous amount of feedback since I've uploaded the vids to YouTube and I've taken time away to work on other projects, work in studios and take some lessons. Long story short (and thanks to a helpful reminder from TechnicolorMX), I'm going to be workin…

I don't think this has been mentioned. Coldplay, Enter Shikari, Embrace Sign Up for Tinnitus Charity Album added 21 January 2013 at 17.44 Xfm's Eddy Temple Morris is putting together a compilation album of artists who suffer from tinnitus. It's part of the Remix presenter's campaign to raise awareness about the hearing problem in his role as a British Tinnitus Association Ambassador. The likes of Coldplay, Enter Shikari and Embrace are all giving tracks to the I Am The One in Ten album. The title reflects the number of people who suffer from the problem - a constant ringing in the ears - in the UK: ten percent. Coldplay frontman Chris Martin last …

  5. 5 Common Criticisms Of Coldplay (And Why They're Wrong) Well, the people have spoken. According to the listeners of BBC 6Music, the best song from the past decade is Clocks by Coldplay. I couldn’t be happier with this outcome. Every generation appears to have a band that it’s not “OK” to like. Said band then becomes the butt of every single lazy criticism that can possibly be made of music; their very name a synonym for blandness itself. Criticisms of such bands become so commonplace that those who hurl the insults ironically become infinitely more boring and tedious than the music they so gleefully attack. As a huge Coldplay fan whose defence of the band cou…

Hey, let's try to make a list of all the references to The Beatles on Viva la Vida or other Coldplay albums. Here's what I've got so far: - Lovers in Japan hints at The Beatles song 'Lady Madonna'. - The intro of 'Yes'; inspired by 'I Am the Walrus'. ( ) (http://youtu.be/Hpg8Kg2L6NM) - The song title 'Violet Hill'. Violet Hill is a street in London that joins Abbey Road. The Beatles named some of their songs after streetnames too, like Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields (Forever). - Strawberry Swing. It's pretty obvious that Strawberry Swing is an ode to The Beatles song 'Strawberry Fields Forever'. Viva la Vida is literally packed with references to The Beatles, …

Coldplay and Kylie's label boycotts Google's music service Leading record label Parlophone, which boasts Coldplay and Kylie Minogue among its artists, has launched a boycott of Google’s new cloud-based music streaming service, Google Play. The company has refused to join Google’s new service claiming that it offers no clear benefit for its musicians, sources told the Daily Telegraph. The free Google Play scheme allows customers to take music they have downloaded on their computer and back it up in Google’s internet-based “cloud”, so they can then access it anywhere they go. Google declined to comment on the Parlophone boycott, …

  10. ----------------- Coldplay have just been crowned no.1 by Steve Lamacq (a fitting person) as voted for by the listeners in BBC 6 Music's countdown of the greatest 100 songs from the past 10 years! Will Champion was interviewed live about the achievement. Twitter tag #6MusicGreatest http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p014fjyc/live ----------------- === Here is the transcript (I have sore hands now) === Steve: Now: It won a Grammy for you, this track... but surely THIS is a bigger award! Will: This is extraordinary, I was totally blown away. We've been listening to 6 Music since it started so our band's career and this station's career have kind of grow…

Grammys Flashback '02: Coldplay's Anticlimax Some bands take a while to get recognized by the music community, but Coldplay wasn't one of them. The band that has become one of the world's most popular alternative bands for over a decade struck gold for its first album, Parachutes, at the 2002 Grammys. The British band was nominated for two Grammy Awards that year after their debut album took off thanks to their hit single "Yellow," which was nominated for Best Rock Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group. PICS: Stars Set to Perform at Grammys Without front man Chris Martin, the band's musicians Guy Berryman, Johnny Buckland, and Will Champion speak to E…

  12. So i'm trying to draw meanings relating to what White Shadows is talking about, but i'm drawing up blanks here. It seems like a part of it talks about growing up and leaving your childhood behind, but it often refers to someone else when it says "maybe you'll get what you wanted, etc etc" and in the last verse, where it says "See it in a new sun rising... see it breaking on your horizon...Oh, come on love, stay with me..." If he's talking to/about someone he cares about and/or loves, then what message is he trying to relay to her? Any thoughts?

  15. Do you want to be a safer driver? Then you might want to turn off the rap and metal music, and switch to the soft rock station. Researchers at London Metropolitan University have analyzed experiments by U.K. insurance price comparison website Confused.com that they say show the best and worst songs to drive to. In the experiment, four male and four female motorists drove 250 miles each, while their driving skills were measured. They then drove a further 250 miles listening to different playlists each. “Music that is noisy, upbeat and increases your heart rate is a deadly mix. Fast beats can cause excitement and arousal that can lead people to concentrate more on …

Here at Babble Celebrity we often write about what a celebrity is wearing, what they are eating (when they’re on a diet), or where they are vacationing, but we rarely get to discuss what celebrities are reading. Perhaps most of them keep their books in their Birkin bags or by their bedside. But every now and then we get a glimpse of what piece of literature they are immersing themselves in. And today, we got to see what Gwyneth Paltrow’s hubby, and leader of Coldplay Chris Martin is reading. The dad of two was spotted in New york City holding a copy of Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy. Perhaps he recently saw the movie version starring Keira Knightley, and Jude Law …

I'm looking for an old picture...I think it may been taken after X&Y. It's in black and white, and features all four boys reading The Sun (I think it was). The paper was announcing their breakup or retirement...something silly like that. They each have a newspaper and have a shocked face if I remember right...I've Googled left and right to no avail. Please help! (I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section...I'm an former member, can't remember my pass and the email associated with it is not working anymore...this place has grown a lot...)
