A one-way ticket to the blues Source: Guardian Unlimited Music fans were this week warned of an explosion in the number of fraudulent gig ticket websites, with fears growing that the number of people likely to be ripped off this year may well exceed the estimated 30,000 people fleeced in 2008. Guardian Money can reveal that some of the sites offering tickets to events such as this year's Reading, Leeds and V Festivals are identical to scam websites that left many people out of pocket last year - yet the UK authorities seem powerless to act. The problem is these sites tend to be hosted outside the UK - with Hungary a favourite safe haven. In many cases the Met…

So Michael Eavis has come out today saying that he has the 3 biggest bands lined up to headline next years Glastonbury festival. "Glastonbury Festival organiser Michael Eavis confirmed to eFestivals that next year's Festival will be headlined by "The three biggest bands in the world. You won't believe who we've got." The farmer made the statement exclusively to eFestivals at Friday's Pilton Party 2010. His daughter Emily, who also organises the event, clarified to eFestivals that the third headliner is not yet a signed and sealed deal but everything is now expected to slot into place. Because Eavis made this new comment so soon after he revealed he hoped to boo…

pretty much the same thing that i did last year. but this year i thought i would add a new element and include debate/poll of what is the best line up of the year. here is what we've had so far this year. any and all help is very welcome. as opposed to last year i might restrict this to the biggest festivals. so maybe only the ones with an attendance of over 50 000. January Big Day Out - Tool, Rammstein, Iggy Pop &Stooges, Grinderman, MIA, LCD Soundsystem, February Soundwave - Iron Maiden, Queens of the Stone Age, Slash, Slayer, 30 Seconds to Mars, Bullet for my Valentine March Future Music - MGMT, The Chemical Brothers, Dizzee Rascal, Pendulum, Mark Ro…

Organisers of the Isle of Wight Festival have defended their decision not to allow fold away chairs to be brought on to the site. About 100 visitors were told they had to leave their seats at the entrance to the site at Seaclose Park in Newport when they arrived on Friday. The organisers said it was because of health and safety concerns and to improve the "audience experience". Some visitors said they were furious at the new rules brought in this year. Among them, Clive Woodford from East Cowes who said he needed to sit for medical reasons and there was no prior notification of chairs being banned. He said: "I'm absolutely furious. It's 175 quid down the dr…

Couldn't make it to this year's Coachella because tickets sold out too quickly or were too expensive? Well, you're in luck. According to its website, the three-day music festival will be held April 13-15 and then April 20-22 with plans to "produce two identical festival weekends. That means same lineup, same art, same place, different people." The message on the Coachella website continues: We know many of you were unable to attend this year's festival because passes sold out much sooner than anticipated. We were truly surprised by the overwhelming response and remain honored by your passion and enthusiasm. We also know some of you purchased through non legitimate s…

Where's Wally (and Paul and James and Alex....) Giant photo of Glastonbury crowd becomes world's most 'tagged' photo By Niall Firth Last updated at 5:45 PM on 22nd October 2010 Comments (3) Add to My Stories Like a real-life version of the famous Where's Wally? books, more than 70,000 happy, sweaty faces gaze out from a sun-baked field, captured in immaculate high-definition. But this image of revellers at this year’s Glastonbury Festival is more than just a snapshot of a crowd enjoying one of the many acts on stage that day. It is the official new holder for the unlikely world record of Most People Tagged In An Online Photo. Since …

The festival wellies that charge your iPod while you dance By Daily Mail Reporter Last updated at 1:40 AM on 10th June 2010 Comments (19) Add to My Stories The Orange wellies - perfect for wet festivals Music fans can use their mobiles at festivals this summer without fear of draining the battery - thanks to a new pair of wellies that charge your phone as you dance. Power Wellies have a power-generating sole that converts heat from your feet into electrical current. This 'welectricity', as the makers call it, can then be used to charge a mobile phone. Twelve hours of stomping through the muddy fields of festival sites will give…
