I'd love to see Coldplay work with guys like James Blake and Bon Iver as well. Can see some magic being birthed from that collaboration.
October 27, 20196 yr at the beginning of the lyric videos at the top there's arabic that means sunrise how cool
October 27, 20196 yr According to someone on the subreddit there'll be a Japanese deluxe edition with a bonus track called "Flags". I'M EXTREMELY HAPPY WITH THIS NEWS. All I wanted besides a new album was a new album with more new original bonus track(s) on a deluxe edition. So, more 15 New songs to come :D

October 27, 20196 yr And if the rumor is true, then we're actually getting a brand new bonus track again instead of something we've heard before :) (the bonus track for AHFOD was just a re-release of Miracles) I really hope it is true, the song is already listed on the japanese Amazon View: https://www.amazon.co.jp/%E3%82%A8%E3%83%B4%E3%83%AA%E3%83%87%E3%82%A4%E3%83%BB%E3%83%A9%E3%82%A4%E3%83%95-%E3%82%B3%E3%83%BC%E3%83%AB%E3%83%89%E3%83%97%E3%83%AC%E3%82%A4/dp/B07ZK94XCK/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?_encoding=UTF8&imageClass=hi-res&keywords=%E3%82%B3%E3%83%BC%E3%83%AB%E3%83%89%E3%83%97%E3%83%AC%E3%82%A4&phoneCarrier=wifi&phoneType=Android&qid=1572145134&rd=1&s=music&sr=1-1&view=Touch9#featureBulletsAndDetailBullets_secondary_view_div_1572146584758

I didn't know that, I thought it was War of the Worlds.
October 27, 20196 yr I translated the page and it confirms WOTW/POTP means Wonders of the World/Power of the People. I didn't know that, I thought it was War of the Worlds. I bet it will be an interlude
October 27, 20196 yr Absolutely no doubt there are at least 2 interludes on this double album, give the total length. I'm gonna say Daddy is one of them.
October 27, 20196 yr Absolutely no doubt there are at least 2 interludes on this double album, give the total length. I'm gonna say Daddy is one of them. it would be silly to have two interludes back to back. the other will be son of adam.
October 27, 20196 yr The album is 53m A and O take up 9m 13 tracks are 1m interludes Everyday Life is a 31m bounce off the wall funky jazz explosion ft chromeo
October 27, 20196 yr Was just looking at the new pics that we’ve seen of the band and the orphans video, and noticed Wills drum kit is simpler than a full drum kit, even on the video where he is playing drums... and arabesque doesn’t have much drum work per say, except the outro has a lot of crashes going on. But could it be all songs on the new album have minimalistic drums (excluding extra percussions). Or maybe more of a percussion driven album but not necessarily a traditional full drum kit? What do you think?
October 27, 20196 yr Everyday Life is 53 minutes. Removing the singles we're left with 44 minutes. Assuming the average song length is 4 minutes (some will be shorter, some may be longer) that leaves us with room for about 11 extra songs as a best case scenario. So there are either gonna be some super short songs on here, or there will be about 3-4 interludes. Maybe 2 interludes per side? Just a guess though.
October 27, 20196 yr I also suspect Wonders of the World/Power of the People may be a double track like Army/X Marks or Yes/CSC
October 27, 20196 yr I would think that with Wonders of the World/Power of the People, POTP would be an interlude. Though I’m hoping they’ll do a VLV style double track like Yes/CSC.
October 27, 20196 yr I'm surprised that the f-word isn't censored here as on another forum where I'm also active.^^ When I started out on this forum I thought it was really strict so I made sure not to swear or act out of order of any kind. TBH I'm kind of surprised this forum doesn't censor words like that either, although I'm also glad. Like others, I'd never heard of Jacob before but after listening to him for three minutes in this interview, I LOVE his voice. Excited to see what he brings to the album! Read some of these other people's comments for him. He's a REALLY talented artist who has a very good knowledge of chord and harmony, music theory etc. Don't get too hyped but he's even experimented with microtonality before, and I will be blown the frick away if there's a Coldplay song featuring that (however unlikely that is, but you never know, he IS Jacob Collier after all) Thought he looked familiar WHAT?!!?!!?! I've literally watched this video twice and REALLY like that he's able to explain all these concepts at each level. I always found it very interesting. NOW I know where my memory of the name came from. I NEVER would have guessed it came from this video, I could have sworn I heard some of his music before! THANK YOU! Though the entire album sounds like it should be experimental in some sense. It's "experimental" and "less experimental" I cannot express enough to you all how much of a genuine, in every sense of the word, genius he is. His knowledge of music is unparalleled, his grasp on harmony is unlike anything I've ever seen, and he knows every scale, in every key, in every mode that has ever existed.... And he can just sing it/play it straight up like it's nothing. For real? Like every single key that's ever existed and every mode and chord? Knows if OFF HAND? Any videos I can watch on this? I knew he was good. But I didn't know he was THAT good. According to someone on the subreddit there'll be a Japanese deluxe edition with a bonus track called "Flags". HYPE! Here's hoping for some more extra tracks this time around, good to hear that we'll have at least 15 more songs, and likely another full song as well if it only ends up being around 12 or 13 more actual songs. Wonder why it's always on the Japanese edition that gets more songs? AFAIK only Coldplay has done that, although others deluxe albums are just everywhere (although I think GS deluxe was Target as well......) Jacob also created a vocal-harmonizer with Bloomberg. Basically he sings into a mic which runs through a keyboard, and every note he plays on the keyboard is an extra note added to the harmony he's singing. He built this thing from nothing. So he's an electronic engineer as well?!!?!?!?!?!?!? I translated the page and it confirms WOTW/POTP means Wonders of the World/Power of the People. I didn't know that, I thought it was War of the Worlds. I always wondered what, and if, that meant anything for an abbreviation. Glad to know that it was (and to nobody's surprise it's the Japanese version of the site that gives us that information ) Was just looking at the new pics that we’ve seen of the band and the orphans video, and noticed Wills drum kit is simpler than a full drum kit, even on the video where he is playing drums... and arabesque doesn’t have much drum work per say, except the outro has a lot of crashes going on. But could it be all songs on the new album have minimalistic drums (excluding extra percussions). Or maybe more of a percussion driven album but not necessarily a traditional full drum kit? What do you think? I for one am excited for this. Hopefully it means that Will might be experimenting with taking more of a minimalistic approach to percussion, restricting himself in ways that might make him more creative. Even though it might be percussion driven. It might mean that he'll be using other instruments besides the standard drum set.
October 27, 20196 yr cp3176 !! The link below is the first video of a 3 part series where Jacob explains his thoughts on harmony, the overtone series and other theoretical aspects of music. It's really well edited (shows diagrams of the scales he's singing, as well as playing it on piano to support it) and you can see Jacob singing a multitude of scales in various keys, from memory, perfectly on pitch. It's quite remarkable. It's not just his sheer understanding, the guy is CREATING and REVOLUTIONISING: Here is a video of him explaining and using his vocal harmoniser too:
October 27, 20196 yr I just checked out some of his stuff. Holy shit. I can’t believe such a human exists. Cannot wait to see what he brings to the album.
October 27, 20196 yr This band is bi-polar AHFOD: “we’re getting stargate and Beyonce” EL: “Get me the modern day Mozart” Although, I’d prefer it was more of the band and less collaborations, good Collabs don’t bother me one bit. The hype train is full steam ahead.
October 27, 20196 yr I remember an old quote about David Bowie only being as good as the people he collaborates with. I think that’s a bit unfair towards Bowie’s own genius, he’s obviously brilliant in his own right, but there’s a reason why his album featuring Donny McCaslin and Maria Schnieder was better received than his record with Mickey Rourke rapping on it. The same idea is just as applicable to Coldplay I think. Obviously a brilliant band in their own right, but they need the right collaborators to bring out the best in them.

I really have no idea what to expect!
October 27, 20196 yr Obviously a brilliant band in their own right, but they need the right collaborators to bring out the best in them. Yes, they are brilliant in their own right and if they can only become even better by collaborating, that's ok. It's funny how the two songs of the new album released so far seems to make everybody happy. "Orphans is for the 'Newplayers' and 'Arabesque' is for the 'OldPlayers'. It's strange that they release a song as their first song which had only be created at the very last minute.
October 27, 20196 yr Hi guys! Now that we have the official track list, we are creating individual threads for each track, if you feel like discussing one in particular. We may build subsections, as for previous eras, but if that happens it will be a bit later. Since this is a double album we have a lot of tracks hence a lot of threads, so here's a recap for all the links - I'm also adding it the first post of this thread so it's easier to find. This might come in handy if more and more threads are created in the weeks leading up to album release. Sunrise 1.
