Coldplay Live

So, Randy, who I co-host 2Beats+ with, decided to spend the month of December reviewing every artist reviewed for the show this past year in a live setting, and since we reviewed Coldplay, here is his review of their live performance. Enjoy!

Coldplay's energy levels at Rock in Rio 2011 were perhaps the highest of any Coldplay performance I can think of right now. The band seemed to really embrace the rock aspect of the festival, with an even harder guitar/drum-driven performance than usual. At least, the versions of some of these songs seem to have their rock factor amped up higher than the band typically performs them. This seems to be a great basis for their Super Bowl performance. Easily one of the times I've seen the band at their best: (Full performance - sorry for quality.) The quality of this video is much better but it cuts out the first few minutes:

There are only VIP tickets for Germany and the UK now, that are no where near the stage. Am I really this late for concerts that are 6-7 months away?

I have already visited some CP concerts since 2005 and in last tournees it gets worse and worse. Instead of getting involved with the music/atmosphere (watching through your eyes), many visitors lift their smartphone idiotically high and try to record the whole concert. I noticed that even at the last promo appearances. I only can hope that Coldplay will mention this bad habit at their performances in 2016th before they start their concerts. That's just very annoying. For the visitors and for the band! Let your smartphone in your pocket, please!

What makes Coldplay think they should be charging so much to see them live? Including postage, it's £148 for 2 standing tickets. STANDING! I had to give in, any fan would, but come on Coldplay - not cool.

I think MX era is pretty much over so I've been thinking about what I want in a few years (or sooner I hope). I've made a top 5 list: 5. X&Y: More songs from X&Y. Twisted Logic would be a great addition. White shadows before Fix You would be amazing and all those songs. 4. Three MX songs only: I am going to get roasted for this, I know. But I want more X&Y songs a less MX songs. Take out Major Minus, Up in Flames, Princess of china. So, if there was a Ghost Stories tour :rolleyes: When do you think it would start? What would be the setlist? What songs would they leave out from older tours? Would they leave out from the tour setlist one song from the album (as they did with Twisted Logic, U.f.o, chinese sleep chant)? What will be the visuals? Will there be something special like the xylobands or anything else? What clothes will the band wear to play? New instruments? Will it be a stadium filling tour or something more intimate? I really missed out on the Royal Albert Hall shows – I had been to visit my Mum, who is not well, she has Cancer, and did not know about the sale and then when I got home and looked online I saw that they were sold out, which did not surprise me, I felt sad.
