  1. Interview with MILES LEONARD, president of Parlophone (EMI), A&R for Tinie Tempah, Gorillaz, Coldplay, Eliza Doolittle EMI’s future may look ever bleaker following the news that Citigroup have wrestled control of the troubled music giant from private equity owner Guy Hands in anticipation of a future sale, but the label’s beacon of good tidings, subsidiary Parlophone Records, remains as strong as ever. Key to its ongoing triumph in the pop sphere - introducing Coldplay (UK & USA No.1) and Gorillaz (UK No.1, USA Top 3) to the global masses and more recently ushering in the breakthrough success of Tinie Tempah (UK No.1) and Eliza Doolittle (UK Top 3) - is preside…

  3. Collaboration News - Tim Wheeler and The Pierces hint at Coldplay album appearances Recently described by a tabloid newspaper as an "unofficial member of Coldplay", Ash front man Tim Wheeler has been setting the record straight on his contribution to Chris Martin and co's forthcoming album. Coldplay, who are headlining Glastonbury this year, have been working with regular producers Brian Eno and Markus Dravs on their new album, which is the follow-up to 2008's 'Viva La Vida Or Death and All His Friends'. Wheeler admits he was in the studio with the band: "I showed up one day at the studio and they were starting to work on a song that, actually, I think had a bi…

In 2008, Chris Martin hinted at the dissolution of the band, he said he was not sure he wants to continue in music over the age of 33. He said that by the end of 2009 they'll that's new studio album ... Namely decay. :\ Well ... Now Chris Martin had 33 and this year is not 2009 is the 2011 album supposed to come out this year I'm not sure but there is a situation Shkeoldpali fall apart it would be very sad are my favorite band and I follow everything they do if someone can be this crazy ... I am, but you think it would be an album Friday? Really? Maybe? Nice discussion :)

  5. Many of us has speculated that the "Guy's Old Photos" competition is the artwork for Apparatjik - but here are some other suggestions! - The background for his antiques shop. He no longer wants a rock and roll lifestyle and is opening an antiques shop in the Cotswolds. It will sell Four Candles and be situated in the town of Chipping Norton - both for its track record for hosting antiques shops for retired celebrities, and so he can have a natter with Jeremy Clarkeson about fast cars. Who will be Mrs. Overall? :) (see: Acorn Antiques!) - More seriously - none of us have considered that the artwork for LP5 will be done by Guy given his love of photography. We all …

If NME is to believed then Spanish Rain (also known as 'Don Quixote') is apparently appearing on LP5. They did put up this song on the so called "Preview of 2011" list. Source: http://www.nme.com/blog/index.php?blog=10&p=9610&2011_albums&more=1&c=1

  9. I suppose my thread title asks it all. Some of you may shudder at this and think I'm doing another U2 to Coldplay comparison. I'm certainly not. But I'm not sure if you guys are aware but U2 are looking to have their album out by at least May. Even if Coldplay didn't care when they released theirs in comparison (although I think they may), do you think the record label would want to have both coming out at the same time. U2 aren't the band they used to be, but they're still serious players in terms of sales. Viva compared to No Line... sort of put to rest U2, but I have to feel if both albums were released in the same month they could affect each other.

Coldplay Are Getting "Risky" On Their New Album November 25th, 2010 at 2:41 PM Coldplay Are Getting "Risky" On Their New Album Coldplay have nearly completed work on their new album and frontman Chris Martin has revealed some of the songs see the band getting a little "risky" compared to their previous releases. Speaking about their recent studio sessions, the singer says: "We're down to 15[songs]. I'm trying to make sure there are three songs that start with the same letter. On the last album it was 'L'. It might be 'U' this time. "One of them is Up With The Birds. It might be a duet, but we don't know who with yet. The other two might change." Chris ad…

  11. I didnt see a thread for this so I just copied and pasted it from the main page :shy: I hope this is okay with Ian!:nice: During a fan meet in London Coldplay have confirmed that their new album will come too soon for a 2010 release, and have still a lot of work to finish before their cash-strapped label EMI take over the reigns of marketing it. The band also had time to mention the timing of the early stages of a new tour. According to Coldplayer Craigie-J who spoke to the band yesterday in London, LP5 won't be out in time for presents. He said: "There ain't gonna be a release for Christmas now that is for sure. Chris (Martin) said that although they are close t…

In my opinion, this is the opportunity for the band to cement its legacy. There are points in any artist's career when things just click. I truly believe this is Coldplay's time. Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends exceeded the quality of the first three studio albums. Prospekt's March proved the band has reached its songwriting stride, producing great songs that could not make the cut on the LP. The intent of this thread is to discuss LP5. What will it sound like? When will it come out? Does this represent that pivotal moment in a band's career where it either delivers or fades back into mediocrity? Let's discuss the impending album....

  13. Viva la Vida as an album was highly influenced by Arcade Fire, the influence is even apparent in their wardrobes for the past few years. Will Lp5 be another nod to a band that chris once called "the greatest band in history"?
