So yes, I have been thinking this on the last few days, and judging the songs we have heard until now, I think that lyrically LP5 is shaping up as a disappointment. I mean, starting with Hurts Like Heaven, I don't think the lyrics are very good, quite repetitive, just as Major Minus. Charlie Brown and Us Against the World are probably acceptable, but I still see all these lyrics as very abstract, impossible to decipher. In Viva we had great songs lyrically speaking, such as Cemeteries of London, Lovers in Japan and Violet Hill. And I'm not even gonna write about Parachuted and AROBTTH because that was Chris at his best. So basically this thread is to hear your opinion …

  5. Assuming Coldplay keeps up their 'tradition' of making the album name the same as a song on the album, what track number do you think the title LP5 will be? History gives us the following: Parachutes - 7 A Rush Of Blood To The Head - 10 X&Y - 6 Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Firends - 7 Or 10 Keep in mind I'm not counting hidden tracks (such as Life Is For Living, or Chinese Sleep Chant) in the track numbering. So DAAHF is track 10 of 10, not track 12 of 13.

  6. If you ignore the bumf about plagiarism etc there is a bit about more singles possible before the album in October. Who knows how reliable this is, but it will be interesting to see if it's true! :)

  7. I like the whole graffiti thing Coldplay has done so far. It's really cool. But I'd love even more x5 the UFO theme they've been hinting at along the way as well. Guy's really cool bass guitar sports the acronym, the Coldplay site is full of pink and blue colors, the MX paper opens up to UFO, and the sweet Live Transmissions sequence beams up a word. Other than that though we've gotten no hint of this theme at all. Not in any of the new songs. And of course there's at least half the album we haven't heard, if not more should some of the new songs not make it. But I can't help but wonder; how will they work it in as a prevailing theme alongside the graffiti theme that…

  9. If the songs they played live are anything to go by, it has it all so far. It has pop, it has more menacing stuff, it has some experimental stuff and some more ballad-like stuff. My favourite albums by Coldplay are Parachutes and Viva, this could join those as my favourite Coldplay albums. Does anyone else have a great feeling about the album? Hurts Like Heaven would be a good opener and ETIAW would be a good closer, like they've been doing at shows lately

  10. Has Your Opinions changed or stayed upon hearing the rest of the album? Just streamed Youtube and the new songs sound very very promising 'Us against the world' is abit AROBTTH era type - it just feels so good to be back from that time of just strumming and guitar and empty sound and their are the arena types - ETIAW - fun song to just shake off the nerves - despite some lyical simplicity its got a great vibe and melody as a song, its just spells out POSITIVITY which is why so many people love it because it just gives you hope and positivity esp. in todays world Charlie Brown - need to listen to this in studio version the LIVE version i just cant get the sound of it…

http://www.gq.com/entertainment/music/201106/coldplay-album-every-teardrop-is-a-waterfall-tracks GQ Exclusive: The (Totally Serious) Tracklist For Coldplay's New Album Don't ask us how we got it, but we did: The song titles to Chris Martin and co.'s new album. And you'll only find them here Last week, Coldplay unveiled the first single off their eagerly awaited new album: "Every Teardrop is a Waterfall"—an unmistakably Coldplay-ish name for a song. And yet it left us wanting more. So the music sleuths here at GQ went digging, and thanks to an anonymous source in the Goop camp, we managed to unearth the remainder of the track list for the new album. Here you go, C…

  13. Now that Major Minus was confirmed as a b-side my mind's starting to reel. No Coldplay b-side has ever made an album in the past so I don't see why that would change now. What if all the songs they're playing are just b-sides to forthcoming singles or songs they don't plan on putting on the record? As great as Charlie Brown, Hurts Like Heaven, and Us Against the World are I can't help but wonder. I'm almost lead to think ETIAW might be the only song of all the new ones that actually end up on the new album (and it's my least favorite of them). I read here someone say it might not even make it either, considering all the new songs Chris is writing and the 'hundreds' of …

  15. I know it's unlikely to add this song to LP5 since the song has been given to Natalie Imbruglia and there is already the unreleased version but i feel Coldplay has missed the boat big time with this song. I think it's an amazing song and has potential to be big, i feel like it should have been one of the tracks in LP5, heck, even though i love ETIAW i think Lukas would have been a much better single. What do you feel about it?

Hi guys, I talk to an admin of the site about a new poll idea and I should just try it. As you surely know we heard 5-6 new tracks at the festivals Rock am Ring and Rock im Park. If they are on the album what do you think with regard to the new songs? LP 5 is going to be awesome???

I know this is my first post, so i'll try and avoid posting rubbish, but, how about Coldplay just releases every song they have on the new album, just make it as huge as possible, 18 songs, or 20 songs. I don't think anyone here would have a problem with 20 brand new(ish) songs

  18. Martin describes the record as "personal within a big framework" Coldplay look to 'outsiders' for inspiration It has taken Coldplay four albums and 10 years to get around to it, but the band have confirmed they are finally on the verge of releasing their "concept" album. The as-yet-untitled record is being produced by Brian Eno and Marcus Dravs - the same team behind the band's last album Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends - the best selling album of 2008. "It's from the point of view of two people who are a bit lost," Coldplay frontman Chris Martin says. "Two like-minded outsiders who meet in a very difficult environment and therefore have a journey toget…

HAVE YOU HEARD HURTS LIKE HEAVEN Like Chris Said a couple of months ago, Johnny Boy shines on LP5. From what I have heard so far, he's sounding as ambitious as The Edge. Bring it on.

Hello to everyone! I'm an italian guy who is going to see the Coldplay live this Thursday, in Mestre! So excited about this! I just heard the new songs Chris revealed at Rock am Ring and they are AMAZING! Please, I kindly ask to you to be patient and write down the lyrics of the new song so that we can understand their meaning and even sing them during the live show... Thank you friends :)

April, "coldpatrix" asked Will in the bakery if it's true that the LP5 will be a concept album. He said: 'So, you know, it is and it isn't. It's hard to explain in a sense, it's a concept album, but not in the same way we're used to. Every song has a story behind, and all these stories come into a final one all together. So, it's not a unique story coming out, but a mix of stories linked to a final one'. Also, Will suggested that the LP5 would come out in autumn... http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?t=46010&page=88 Now the Pierces said in an interview to the BBC news: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-13459827 "We actu…

  24. Remember back in 2010 when Chris asked Roadie 42 to build him a "solar system": http://www.coldplay.com/newsdetail.php?id=619 Have we missed a trick here? Chris mentioned a concept album - and I remember around that time there was speculation this was for inspiration for the next album Chris has always showed an interest in science- "The Speed of Sound", "The Scientist" obvious track titles (but not much science) I know, but we know he has a keen interest in science-fiction - he's often been spotted in his Back To The Future T-shirt, and I remember reading a few years ago that Chris was a Doctor Who fan as well. More recently the Oracle did answer a question o…
