  1. Started by Sparky,

    New site wide poll :) Let's see if 'Politik' and 'The Scientist' come out on top, as they did in the past. Mobile link <div id="debate_1_2290053"></div> <script> (function () { var opst = document.createElement('script'); var os_host = document.location.protocol == "https:" ? "https:" : "http:"; opst.type = 'text/javascript'; opst.async = true; opst.src = os_host + '//' + 'www.opinionstage.com/polls/2290053/embed.js'; (document.getElementsByTagName('head')[0] || document.getElementsByTagName('body')[0]).appendChild(opst); }()); </script>

  2. It's a song for a movie from 2014. Can't remember the name... It's called "Wish I Was Here", features lead vocals from Cat Power, brief background vocals by Chris and has a haunting solo. If this is what we can expect from AHFOD, maybe there is hope after all... Any thoughts? Have you heard it yet? EDIT: the movie is also called "Wish I Was Here" and stars Zach Braff.

  3. Edit by Sparky - Track by Coldplay and Cat Power released - more info and links here Braff filled Garden State, his 2004 directorial debut, with infectious tunes from the Shins, Simon & Garfunkel, and Coldplay. Wish I Was Here, his directorial followup — which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and hits theaters across the country this summer — is similarly packed with cool music, including original songs from the Shins and Bon Iver. But Sundance audiences weren’t privy to the final piece to Braff’s eclectic soundtrack. “We also have an original song sung by Cat Power, written by Chris Martin,” Braff tells EW exclusively. “It wasn’t ready yet for [sunda…

  4. Even if it comes a day belated - Happy 13th Birthday, A Rush of Blood To The Head ! Coldplay's best album in the view of many people, and also best album ever according to a British poll. I actually meant to post it yesterday on August 12th, but completely forgot - sorry, blame it all upon a rush of blood to the head. ;) And not to forget some of the great B-Sides this Era spawned, like: Crests of Waves, Animals, I ran away, One I Love, I Bloom Blaum...

  5. Started by richmondn96,

Does anyone know why Animals was not included on the Clocks single in the 1999-2006 Singles Vinyl Box Set? According to Wikipedia the 7", 12", and CD tracklist is 1. Clocks 2. Crests of Waves and 3. Animals but the box set 7" single only lists Clocks and Crests of Waves. What gives?

  6. 15 years ago today, the band celebrated the release of Parachutes and their 100th gig by playing a special show at HMV in Oxford Street London. HMV broadcasted the show live to their website over dial-up so the quality isn't great ;) Notable moments include an impassioned plea for Brothers and Sisters from the crowd, which wasn’t on the setlist because (understandably) it was supposed to be all songs from Parachutes. Chris, in fairly typical style apologised profusely, before finally compromising with an impromptu Bigger Stronger. "We can do what we want, It's our album release day!" Don't you just love chris! Phil Harvey was also brought (with great reluctance!) on…

  7. Started by AHeadFullOfDreams,

Pretty straightforward, rank the tracks by the studio album they were released in. My favourites will be at the top of each list. (These lists are entirely opinion based) PARACHUTES 1. Shiver 2. Don't Panic 3. Everything's Not Lost 4. Yellow 5. Parachutes 6. High Speed 7. Spies 8. Life is for Living 9. We Never Change 10. Trouble 11. Sparks A RUSH OF BLOOD TO THE HEAD 1. Warning Sign 2. Clocks 3. God Put a Smile Upon Your Face 4. A Whisper 5. Daylight 6. Politik 7. The Scientist 8. In My Place 9. A Rush of Blood to the Head 10. Amsterdam 11. Green Eyes X&Y 1. Low 2. Square One 3. Fix You 4. The Hardest Part 5. White Shadows 6. A Me…

  8. Started by X2YandZ,

Over the past 6 albums, Coldplay have always opened the albums strong and powerful. The question is how would YOU rank them? My Opinion 1. Politik 2. Square One 3. Always In My Head 4. Don't Panic 5. LIT/COL (I'm combining these because I consider LIT a really long intro) 6. Mylo Xyloto/HLH ...Though 3, 4, and 5 fluctuate frequently.

  9. Coldplay named at #13 in biggest selling albums of the decade (UK), for 'Mylo Xyloto' ----------------- Link Adele’s 21 is the biggest selling album of the decade to date, the Official Charts Company can reveal. The singer-songwriter’s second studio album – which spent a massive 23 weeks at Number 1 - has sold just over 4,751,000 copies in the UK. Take That’s Progress earns the Number 2 spot with sales of over 2,374,000 since its 2010 release. The former Official Albums Chart Number 1 shifted an impressive 519,000 copies in its opening week and spawned three Top 40 singles: The Flood, Kidz and Love Love. In at Number 3 is Michael Buble’s festive album…

  10. After having recently buying some proper CD's (had all songs as MP3 only before that), I began wondering which CD booklet (of either all 6 studio albums or all 3 live abums) is your favourite, and why ? Of all the live albums, I think Live 2012 has the best booklet, with all those tiny lyrics/sentences scribbled everywhere and so much to discover if you look closely (and have good eyes ;)) As for the studio albums, so far I only have X&Y and VLVODAAHF. Don't like the VLV booklet, somehow I find the paintings ugly. I conceptually love the X&Y booklet, I just wish they had chosen less dark colors for some pages because I find it hard to discern who is on thes …

  11. Started by Sparky,

Which live concert film is the most special to you? Live 2003 or Live 2012? Both differ quite vastly from each other. Howyousawtheworld has posted an excellent article on Coldplaying.com, looking back at both of them Read it here: http://www.coldplaying.com/live-2003live-2012/ And vote away :)

  12. Started by KingdomCome,

What are your favorite lines from Coldplay lyrics? Doesn't have to be from one particular album - favorites of ALL time here. :)

  13. Hi all, I bought a used "Live 2003" CD + DVD set yesterday, and as much as I love the concert, to be honest I was a bit disappointed by the video and audio quality. Now I didnt expect a perfect quality since it is 12 years old and a live recording, after all, but I was wondering if in your copies of Live 2003, the video is very low resolution too and the audio a bit unclear ? Or is the stuff I bought fake ? Also, I was wondering what the best audio settings from those offered on the DVD is from your experience ? I didnt note differences between the settings, but I'm not sure....

  14. Started by AHeadFullOfDreams,

Similarly to the 'Best album opener' thread, let's see what people think the best final song is. I'll rank mine, from favourite to least favourite (entirely opinion-based): 1. Up With the Birds 2. Amsterdam 3. O 4. Death and All His Friends 5. Everything's Not Lost 6. Twisted Logic What do you think?

Does anybody know how the song was written, where it was recorded, production details or any other interesting facts about the song?

Hey guys, There's a copy of Safety going on eBay right now! I can't link in a URL but if you type Coldplay Safety in the search bar, it's the only thing that comes up.

I know people have talked about how they would change MX, but I don't know if there is an actual thread covering all 5 albums. If you could change the tracklist of any of Coldplay's 5 albums what would you do? You could just change one song if you wanted, or completely re-order an album. I would be interested to see people's ideas. For example, X&Y: Square One Moses White Shadows Fix You Talk Speed Of Sound Til Kingdom Come Low The World Turned Upside Down Swallowed In The Sea Twisted Logic Ladder To The Sun (hidden track) Viva: Life In Technicolor ii Cemeteries Of London Glass Of Water 42 Viva La Vida Violet Hill Death Will Never Conquer (f…

  19. Just google "Rolling Stones top 10 Coldplay songs". They've actually built up a pretty good list. It's not just hits (Amsterdam is above Viva la Vida!!!! :D). They also have a good list for Radiohead songs.

  20. Started by lsnacion,

I don't know if this has been discussed before, but anyway. How are the artworks for each album connected to the content of those respective albums? At first glance, they seem to be completely unrelated, with the possible exception of the last three albums. Any thoughts? Particular importance to Parachutes, A Rush of Blood to the Head, and X&Y. Thank you!

  21. Started by lsnacion,

So does anyone have any alternate tracklisting for X and Y? It's currently my least favorite Coldplay album - not that it's bad, just when I have to rank the albums I like it least. So I was wondering if an alternate tracklist will change that.

    1. Don't Panic 2. Yellow 3. Shiver 4. Trouble 5. No More Keeping My Feet on the Ground 6. Only Superstition 7. High Speed 8. We Never Change 9. Spies 10. Brothers & Sisters 11. Bigger Stronger 12. Sparks 13. Everything's Not Lost/Life Is for Living Bonus Hidden Tracks: 14. Don't Panic (The Blue Room Version) 15. Such a Rush Deluxe Edition: 16. For You 17. Help Is Round the Corner 18. Careful Where You Stand Bonus Hidden Tracks; Deluxe Edition: 19. Yellow (The Alpha Remix) What would be yours?

  23. Started by ciaA26,

For a long time now, I've wanted to make a list of every song on the 6 studio albums (not including Prospekts March or The Blue Room or EPS etc.) and rank them. I finally had a couple of hours to kill, so here it is. Remember that these are all my personal opinions, but I'd love it if other people had a go or debated my choices! Here we go (I'll list my top 10 at the end) 11 Warning Sign 12 Viva la Vida 13 42 14 Green Eyes 15 A Message 16 ASFOS 17 Everything’s Not Lost 18 Up in Flames 19 ETIAW 20 Lovers in Japan 21 Lost! 22 Til Kingdom Come 23 Midnight 24 ROBTTH 25 Clocks 26 In my Place 27 Shiver 28 Paradise 29 Charlie Brown 30 Sparks 31 Ink 32 …

  24. Hey guys I'm wondering it's everything so confuse right now about the "power" of Spotify in everywhere. I don't know anymore how to support properly I mean I buy all of Coldplay's CD's but I think it's really interesting the way streaming make possible to discover new artists and everything but at the same time I'm thinkin about a Vinyl collection... it's really confusing. I don't think the guys enjoy streaming but maybe I'm wrong. What do you think? If world turn streaming (predictions that will happen in 2019) what we suppose to do? :inquisitive:
