Wow. I just heard this song for the first time and it's amazing. How the hell did this not make it onto X&Y? It's got a nice catchy verse and then that lovely, bittersweet chorus that reminds me so much of why I fell in love with Coldplay in the first place. Also reminds me much more of their AROBTTH days, I'm guessing that's why they never released it besides as a bonus track on the Japan disc... I'll never understand why some of their B-sides never made it onto the albums...they're so good! Songs like Murder, I Ran Away, Animals, One I Love, 1.36, are some of my favorites, out of any of their material. Does anyone else agree? To tell you the truth when I just …

What really pisses me off about other people is when they say that Coldplay suck. coldplay is the best band that we have today. their melodies are one of a kind, their lyrics are the best and you can actually understand every word that they are saying in each of their songs. when people say that Panic! at the disco and bands like that are the best i feel like rocking them. i know that everyone has a different genre of music and they may of never hear any of coldplays songs but dont say they suck then. one last thing. when people say that coldplay is gay that pisses me off the most. first of all 3/4 of them are married and guy just divorced. i hate to admit that i …

I remember reading an article a few months ago about Coldplay's next album, and Chris Martin said the band was working on what would be the "greatest song ever". Does anyone know what this song is or the name of it? Thanks!

If you play Violet Hill on a stereo system you will note that the vocals seem very reverb-ish...like the sound you would get if you recorded them in a huge open cathedral.... I'm sure we all remember when the big buzz was that the guys headed to Spain to do some recording in a Spanish Cathedral....I wonder if Violet Hill vocals were one of them...?

Share yer stories! I waited for nine hours on here. That's right, nine hours. During the early hours I went googly and ventured onto the "Messages for the Coldplay Team" thread and told Chris and Guy that they were "secksie". Which now I think is utterly hilarious (but true :sneaky:). So soon I stayed in the "Violet Hill Virgil" thread and the "Irritate the Person Above You using only an emoticon" thread. Soon it was afternoon and the people started to come in. TracieMorgan was having an overnighter so we talked lots obviously, lol. Tuned into XFM, had fun talking about the stuff on there. So then Stefan played a little prank and made us tune into Radio One (which did…

Now before anyone replies back trying to rip my head off... let me first state that I love the song. And if there's anybody who is obsessed with Coldplay, then it's me. However, I just wanted to state that I was surprised by some of the obvious production mistakes Brian Eno let slip through the cracks.... Maybe the reason I picked up on it is because I'm a musician who studies music theory as well as production work, and probably 95% of other people listening to it wouldn't even notice it. I mean this in an absolutely no-music-snobbery kind of way; I just simply mean if you're not looking for it and you don't have a trained ear, then there's a good chance you probably …

Apparently Violet Hill sounds a lot like a whole bunch of other songs, but I don't seem to follow a few apparent "similar" songs... my sister suggested "Strangelove" by Depeche Mode and "Take These Broken Wings" by Mr. Mister. :laugh3: What do you guys think VH sounds like? Personally this song reminds me a bunch of "Eternally Missed" by Muse. It's just the quarter note thing tho--and I have to admit, I think I like Eternally Missed a bit more, as much as I love Violet Hill...

Lucky Europeans!! Most of you get to hear it at a reasonable hour. But for the rest of us, who's going to stay up all night to hear the song? For me it'll be 7:15 in the morning, but I've decided to put the coffee on and wait. Anyone else??:D

I'm merging all the threads on how to listen to Violet Hill which I was going to put with this put I couldn't do it right, so they're here Basically this is all the info you will need. :) Where? Radio 1 (played on Jo Whiley's show, who has already heard the album) XFM (has the extra information) 6 Music and of course the free download on Coldplay.com When? I'd say start listening to the radio half an hour before scheduled time as there might be some extra info. 11.45am GMT use this link to find out your time zone by adding/subtracting the hours http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/ How? By clicking any of those links ;)

Coldplay Single Preview: Read About 'Violet Hill' Here Before You Download It On Tuesday! Track transitions from stomping guitar chords to hushed vocals, indicating the rest of the album's atmospheric sound. By the time Tuesday morning (April 29) rolls around, you're going to know what we're talking about. That's when Coldplay will post "Violet Hill" — the first single from their upcoming Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends album — on their official Web site for free download. (It's scheduled to happen at exactly 7:15 a.m. ET, FYI.) The move is rare for a band of such stature, not to mention a band of such major-label-tude. And while we applaud such forwar…

Just got an email from someone who works at London IMAX who tells me that Coldplay's new single, Violet Hill, will be released as an internet download in three weeks time, according to Chris Martin. Chris was spotted at the London IMAX cinema where he told the worker that the single would be a download only. Chris was on his way to seeing the Rolling Stones musical film "Shine A Light". [Thanks Max]

Theres no problem if you consider this thread should be merged with another that already exists. Here's the deal. There is a radio DJ from Mexico City ( The radio station is Reactor 105.7 FM) who happens to be a huge fan of britpop. He has his own website where he writes about several topics. Ive got to say that he has certain level of reputation and he is trustworthy when it comes an announcement of any show or news from some bands. He wrote some minutes ago about Coldplay and the NME vinyl thing. But what is important from all of this is that he mentioned that, according to a reliable source, the new single will be played next monday. The problem is that he did n…
