Mylo Xyloto (2011)

anyone remember that awesome song that never saw the light of day :(

When I looked at the release date of my preorded copy of the Mylo Xyloto CD at amazon.de,it listed Oct 21 as the release date. So i checked the release date at iTunes and it also said that Oct 21 is the expected release date... Is there an earlier release for Germany or Europe? (I always thought it would also be on Oct 24) Thanks in advance,Seppel :)

For those of you who like deciphering, here is a picture of the graffiti that was on the stage at the ACL taping. It was really hard to get a totally clear picture from where we were sitting, with the lighting and all, but you may be able to figure out quite a bit. Not sure how good this resolution will be from photobucket, but if you pm me, I can email a full resolution.

I've heard rumors, but I honestly think it is a possiblity. It's a Concept Album/Rock Opera and we have seen film adapations of Tommy, Quadrophenia, The Wall and even concert movies like Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. I'm just putting it out there. I would love to see a movie but what do you all think?

None of us have heard the album but my gut feeling is that this album won't be as good as Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends. I was just listening to that album again in all this craze over Mylo Xyloto and it struck me what they've got to live up to with that album. As it was their previous effort Viva will be used as a water mark for this album. For me it set a pretty high water mark. Both are relatively quiet, piano driven songs. Yet MTM has more depth, better lyrics, differing chord progression, unique chords. My point is, if we never got MTM on the ep (for those who argue for wanting new songs), should MTM have made the album instead of UIF? I know we just heard a live phone vid for UIF, but let's get real. It's honestly not going to be much different on the album, just clearer and crisper. I can imagine it already. Don't get me wrong, the song's alright, but it sounds more like a b-side. Lots of people have drawn many comparisons of UIF to previous Coldplay songs. Okay, so this is my belief, and I'm pretty sure it's right. Viva La Vida was basically a Pop Song. It charted #1 in many, many countries. Fix You is arguably Coldplay's most well-known song after VLV It didn't even top the UK charts, and in most places did not go top 10. THINK, PEOPLE, THINK. Is Hurts Like Heaven poppy? Charlie Brown? Christmas Lights has a great vibe.The harmony and the arrengement is fantastic. I wish LP5 was more in this style,more with this harmony's. Maybe then it would be the best Coldplay album. 'Moving To Mars' comes close to this kind of harmony.

I have been a die hard Coldplay fan for years now, and in the process have collected all their works. My buds and I all listen to Indie and Rock music where I live, and we all strongly dislike the majority of today's pop music. Every time I tell my friends Coldplay is my favourite band, they accuse me of liking crappy pop music!! Now I know that Coldplay is one of the highest grossing bands ever, and that they are extremely popular, but never did I listen to their albums and think they were crappy pop music. When taking in a brand new song do you prefer to hear it live first and then hear the studio version? Or do you like to have heard the studio version before you hear it played live? We have had an interesting mix of both on the path to MX but you can answer this question in reagrds to any band or artist. Does how you are first exposed to a song have an impact on your perception of it? Again... this question, while inspired by the build up to the new album, is not limited to Coldplay or MX.

What are your expectations for tonight's show? What new songs do you think they will play? My guesses are Up In Flames, Don't Let It Break Your Heart, Paradise, and possibly Princess of China.

I dont know if its me only who noticed it i hear some MX song titles in MX song's lyrics... LIKE: MM - Do-dont dont believe a word , its "Us against the world" PARADISE - " Every tear, a waterfall." and anything else you guys noticed?

I'm sorry, but I'm fed up of people comparing MX against old material. Coldplay are not returning to their roots. Coldplay are progressing into new territory. No matter what they do, they will always be the band that wrote Politik, Everything's Not Lost, etc, so logically, some of that will manifest in Mylo Xyloto. But if you don't like the new direction, don't listen to it. Listen to your old albums. Bands who are well-respected move forward; ie Radiohead, U2. I dunno about the rest of you, but I am quite frankly sick and tired of the whining and crying and complaining about Mylo Xyloto, ETIAW, Paradise, and Coldplay's new direction. So for those of you like me who actually happen to like the new direction, this is the thread to compliment it. No hating here, if you hate here on this anti-hate thread I'm gonna report you to a mod, no lie. Here's my compliment: I love the strings in Paradise. They are just so beautiful, and i find the story in the lyrics to be inspiring and hopeful.

So, MX has three different artworks. The colour one, the MX one, and the one where it's the whole album title spelled out with the letters coloured. Which one of these three is your favourite? Also, if you look at iTunes, the current artwork is the MX artwork, while during the first few days it was the colourful artwork. Think iTunes will give us both in the metadata when we download it or do you think we will have to add the other one manually? And finally, I'm a huge album art freak. So, does anyone have a high quality version of the artwork with the full MX title coloured in? I'd like to add that to the iTunes copy along with the other two.

Many "fans" have turned on the band ever since they start becoming really big. I love this band from the beginning and have defended them over the years. I never quite understood how anyone could not like them. I have never been disappointed with their releases until now, ETISAW was alright, I thought it worked quite well in a festival, along with all the laser lights but it lacked something, something which i could not figure out until they released Paradise.
